"Poll question: OKParanoids: Who is Stern fixing the lotto for this year?"
Some good choices this year, and with a (relatively) weak field, it makes all the more sense for David Stern to pull off one last signature Rigged Lottery.

Because the best player on the board imo is McLemore... who plays the same position Waiters plays.
Yet center is a huge need, and Noel is right there... but he may not play for a while, and certainly can't contribute right out the gate, especially on offense, and Ky needs some help from someone who can put the ball in the bucket.
Maybe McLemore's length can allow them to play a 3 guard set.
If I'm the Cavs, I draft McLemore 1st and maybe use that mid-first round pick they'll get from the Lakers to trade up into the late lotto and snag someone like Austin or Dieng. Get a wing guy at the top of the second: hopefully Crabbe, more realistically someone like Solomon Hill or Deshaun Thomas.

Long, athletic, tall for his position, fast. Shot nearly 50% on the season, despite 3s accounting for nearly half of his attempts! As a freshman! He shot 42% from 3!
Beal and Waiters went third and fourth last season in the draft, and they both actually looked pretty good towards the end of their rookie campaigns. They're both shorter and less athletic than Beal, and they both shot notably worse from the field and from 3 their freshman years in college... and they went third and fourth in the draft.
He shot a higher percentage from 3 as a freshman than Ray Allen or Stephen Curry did in their freshman campaigns.
A shooting guard who shoots that well right out of the gate, plus all those physical gifts? Those don't come along in every draft class. His ceiling is awesome to think about.
As much as you and Ba watch ball I can't believe how much y'all love BMac. He's super talented but dude has a weak handle and I'm not sure he's going to be THAT much better than Dion. Can he get to the rim? Can he finish against contact? Can he defend at all? I do see all star games for him if it breaks right. Does that win any more games?
Nerlens is a beast though. Everyone ignores the assist numbers he put up at UK in an offense with no shooters. He did good work on the elbows facilitating. His hands are GREAT. He made tough catches on the run, he blocks shots and keeps them inbounds, he slides his feet so well on the perimeter. That's all skill-based stuff that translates even if he only comes back at 85% of his 18 yr old athleticism. He'll still be fluid even if he loses some athleticism.
His absolute floor is a more offensively-adept Tyson Chandler. You don't pass that up. Ever.

Because the Wolves are in the 9th spot, one of the teams below them will jump up into the top 3. It's a fact. I'll say Orlando, Dallas, Cleveland, with Portland as the dark horse.
