"FILA retros Kevin Johnson shoes"

KJ is the most likable politician I've ever seen. He will be Governor of CA someday.

The latest development of FILA’s comeback to the sneaker game is a reported re-release of the “KJ7,” signature sneaker of former NBA guard and current Sacramento mayor Kevin Johnson. FILA will release the KJ7 in Suns and Kings colorways. More details, from Jonathan Santiago of Cowbell Kingdom:

Johnson also announced today that FILA would be donating $25,000 to Think Big Sacramento, which would be used for “fan experiences” in the Sacramento community. The sportswear and apparel company is planning to use proceeds from the 2014 re-release of the mayor’s KJ7 shoes, which Johnson wore during his playing days in Phoenix, to fund their contribution to the arena task force.

“This really is bigger than FILA and really bigger than Mayor Johnson,” said Mike Zinn of FILA at today’s press gathering. “It’s really about the the city of Sacramento and what you all are involved in right now. So as what the mayor mentioned, in lieu of royalties to him specifically, we are donating the $25,000 to the Sacramento public policy foundation and that is our way of supporting not only the city, but your efforts with the Kings.”

Think Big and FILA are also partnering on a contest, asking fans to submit a one-minute video detailing why they think the Kings should stay in Sacramento.

Several years ago, around the time Nike acquired them.

They did the LJs, too, Aero Jams I guess they were called.

i bought a pair from ross for $20 lol, the one in the gallery 8th n market in philly. i recently pulled em out of storage and sold em, some guy paid 110!

they were just OK. aero jams were better quality retro. those were hard, i found several OG pairs at a chicks outlet almost ten years after they came out and made a killing. i kept a couple pairs but noticed that they wouldn't be wearable, too much foam and crap in the midsole. that's the thing about 90s shoes, they could just fall apart on you without notice because age is a bitch for anything with foam midsoles.

And you will know MY JACKET IS GOLD when I lay my vengeance upon thee.

The React Juice shits, I guess he was with Fila prior to that.

Those are kinda wack. I saw they did the Grant Hill 2, I bought the black pair but I haven't worn them yet. I had the white/navy back in the day.

I guess Stackhouse, Mashburn and Webber cannot be far behind. I only remember one Webber shoe (called the Fila Ship or something) but Stack had at least three, including one that looked good. I fucked with the black Mashburns with the yellow React Juice.

And you will know MY JACKET IS GOLD when I lay my vengeance upon thee.

people want storylines with retros and KJ is not remembered as a fila guy. i remember he wore nike before converse and he had the big marketing push with cons.
and those filas don't even look good/are a shoe that people been waiting for.
i can see kids buying this riding the 90s wave tho.
