I sent a link of my soundcloud to a well-liked OKP MC and he picked 3 of the 8 tracks I smashed Bartek with.
That and there are also a couple of smaller but known artists I’m in contact with who are open to submissions, so that’s something to look forward to. I reinstalled Cubase and Hypersonic and created a couple of sketches that I really liked, so I decided to get back on the grizzle.
My major issue now is, what platform do I use?
I’m sticking with Cubase, possibly updating to Artist 7 so long as the workflow debacle of 5 doesn’t remain. 3 is still very usable though.
I’ve got a request from said OKP mc to do a sampled track, and that really hasn’t been a hallmark of mine since I left the MPC because I’ve never been able to replicate that sample-based workflow using software.
It’s a brave new world now, where hardware and software integration is beginning to come into its own and I definitely want the hardware experience again. So I’m down to a couple of possibilities:
-Maschine/Maschine Mikro, which is the leader from what I’ve seen. It seems to be the best of both worlds overall.
-MPC Studio. I love that work flow, but I don’t know that I trust Akai on the VST front just yet. Maschine can act as my VST host and I’ve used Kontakt and Massive for years, so that tight integration seems to nudge me closer to Maschine.
Any Maschine/MPC Studio users in here? Any pertinent things I should know? Most of the reviews and videos I see might as well be written by NI themselves and the anti crowd seems largely made up of people who simply didn’t stick with it, didn’t get it, or expected Maschine to do the work for them.
Also, if anyone has experience on both full sized Maschine and the Mikro, any major control differences with the smaller controller will be helpful.
I’m excited, personally.
Oh, and I may as well offer up the SC link. These are all older tracks but if anything piques your interest, let me know. I’m open to working with quality MC’s.
