Cause I'm going to go with my #1 - Toronto Blue Jays

when I was real young, you couldn't tell me shit about this team.
you think the Eagles fandom is out of control, I rocked that snap back like Chuck D (you never saw me without it) back then.

1) George (Jorge) Bell
2) Joe Carter
3) Jesse Barfield
4) Roberto Alomar
5) Roy Halladay

Hon. mention

- Bautista
- Doyle Alexander (when I first noticed this team)
- Dave Stewart (NOPE... he counts)
- Tom "Accountant" Henke
- Dave Stieb
- David Wells (even though Spanks and Sux fans prolly like him more)
- John Olerud (Helmet Head)
- Tony Fernandez
- Devon White (NOPE... he counts)
- Pat Hentgen
- Kelly Gruber
- Fred McGriff (double, triple NOPE)

I'm not sure dudes like Frank Thomas (though LOL @ him hitting that grand slam on a game bitch-ass Beckett left) and Rickey Henderson count, but I enjoyed their brief stays with the team.

Yeah, Fernandez was a True Blue Jay. I was glad he came back for that '93 season... it was bad enough they got those chips w/o George and Jesse.

but in the end I was a much bigger fan of Bledsoe in the 90s. I'd put Brown 6th. Vincent Brisby is another favorite of mine but that's just because I got a chance to hang out with him and his fine ass girl a few times back in the day.

That's like me with Bake McBride or something: love the fro, the nickname, World Series ring, a few headfirst slide clips & web gems but I don't actually remember what it was like to watch him play.

1. Barry Sanders
2. Jason Hanson
3. Calvin Johnson
4. Mel Gray
5. (rotating cast)

Barry...nothing more really needs to be said. More than any player in NFL history, he was truly one-of-a-kind. There has never been another player who can do what he could do, and I can't think of another player who can make that claim. He's easily the greatest back I've ever seen play (peace to Jim Brown). He helped shape me as a man, no joke.

Hanson is a fucking G. If we go into the season with David Fucking Akers instead of #4 because of a few hundred thousand geld, I will mutiny. We need to get him a win in Lambeau before he hangs 'em up (0-21 in Green Bay, I believe).

What few people seem to appreciate about Calvin is how much of a fucking pro he is. He works as hard or harder than anyone else on the team. He plays hurt and never mentions it. He is a class act on and off the field, and represents the team in an era where we can't seem to stop waving guns around and driving drunk and naked through Wendy's drive-thrus.

Mel Gray was Barry on special teams. Just electrifying. As a young cub, it struck me as amazing that we could have 2 guys who were the best in the league at their respective positions. Two! What a bounty of riches. ::sigh::

Stafford will be on this list in a couple years, or I don't know shit about football. Other names considered for the fifth spot were the two-headed monster of Moore and Perriman, Scroggins, Porcher (truth be told, it's probably Porcher), Spielman, Boyd, Utley, Blades, Ball, and Steady Eddie Murray. The fact that I could have filled 3 of the 5 spots on this list with Special Teamers tells you all you need to know about the recent history of the Detroit Lions.

Truthfully, my admiration of Rivaldo comes mostly from second hand tales, World Cup '02, Fifa, and the youtube era. I couldn't've watched Barcelona in 97 if I wanted to.

I got nothing but love for Puyol though.

No matter how much he pissed me off. I was so happy when he came back in that trade.

I actually would have Reggie 3rd but I forgot about him and just added him in at 5. Devastated when he passed away. I always remember where I was when I heard he collapsed and when he passed.

Rondo over Paul Pierce, interesting. How did it feel to see Antoine do the shimmy in that Heat jersey and what do you feel about his somewhat recent financial issues?

My list should be this:
>1. Larry Bird
>2. Antione Walker
>3. Reggie Lewis
>4. Rajon Rondo
>5. PP

I thought of Reggie too late and just adding him at 5. Rondo is starting to wear on me though and I think I appreciate PP more as he gets older so those could easily flip flop.

Like I said above, I loved Antione no matter how dumb he was or how ill advised he played. Sad to see him struggling though.

The Heat thing didn't bother me, doesn't hurt to see my favorite guys move on too much as I now realize its business more than anything.

Reggie White (#1)
Brian Dawkins
Donovan McNabb
Randall Cunningham
DeSean Jackson (it was a hard pick over B-West, Shady et al... but the Giants Ether Game placed him there)

Trott and Watters are good choices. Though the latter kind of has a bit of that "T.O." rep, he was the best RB the Eagles had for a long while until the days of Duce, B-West and Shady

Jason Avant is actually an honorable mention. He isn't a league leader by any means, but the catches he does make are ridiculous. He also had a pretty understated role in the aforementioned Giants Ether

I left off Dawkins, Jerome Brown and Westbrook who would be on many people's top 5.

My honorable mentions would be Keith Jackson, Keith Byars and Seth Joyner.

And that DeSean Jackson play maybe my top favorite Eagle play ever. Not only was it a great play, I take great in seeing rivals in agony. Coughlin lost his shit which made that play even more wonderful.

actually, that rebound from the team was the GOAT.

the one game that had me drinking the Kool-Aid. All that time in the Eagles history under Reid... if Andy ever let a rival get the Eagles that far down the hole... it was over.

Everyone, Vick, the defense... and especially DeSean with that impossible run. He muffed it at first.

I'm surprised more Eagles fans don't have Seth Joyner on the list. He was a beast and the linchpin of those monster Buddy Ryan defenses.

I didn't want the list to be overrun with Buddy Ryan's guys (or even Andy's guys), but I debated putting either him, Jerome, or Clyde on that list.

and he's dropped multiple balls in the end zone while calling bullshit meetings when being sure-handed was his hallmark early in his career.

He's past the sell-by date with this team.

Made some crazy catches (I was actually in person for the grab in San Diego-the lefty one-hander sideline one......sickest catch I've seen live) & was a solid possession receiver early in his career but we didn't keep Greg Garrity around for seven years plus make him a captain.

Think that's more a commentary on how little actual leadership this team has had in the last couple Reid years.

Anyway tho, your list reminds me I probably should have put Desean on mine.

but I am glad to have had him as an Eagle. he was what Freddie Mitchell stubbornly refused to be, a possession receiver. DeSean is what Freddie Mitchell was supposed to be.

But Andy sucked ass at drafting WRs, in general.

Starting in '06's draft Avant was good value in Round 4, Desean was an absolute steal in '08 in Round 2 & Maclin (while I wasn't crazy about it plus there is folks under him you could make cases for) was at least a solid pick.

1. Brian Dawkins
2. Randall Cunningham (probably strong memories as a kid clouding my judgement here)
3. Eric Allen (ill never forget his amazing '94 season)
4. Brian Westbrook
5. Troy Vincent

6. Donovan McNabb (greatest Eagle next to B-Dawkins since the early 90s, but kind of a flaky personality that makes it hard to really love him like that)
7. Sheldon Brown
8. Duce Staley
9. Tra Thomas/ Jon Runyan
10. Shady McCoy

I've got a soft spot for a lot of other guys like David Akers, Bobby Taylor, Byron Evans, Chad Lewis, Fred Barnett, Jeremiah Trotter, Brent Celek, Mark McMillan, Leonard Weaver, DJax, and so many others. I only remember Reggie White for about 2 seasons so I kept him off despite him being one of my all time favorite players.

If we were to include guys before our time, but have studied, than I'd probably have Concrete Chuck as #1.

Bonus: Olerud/Ordonez/Ventura, to round out the Greatest Infield of All Time.

I was slower to grasp the intricacies of baseball than i was football, so my memories don't go back as far. As a young man I thought Howard Johnson was so good that they named hotels after him, so he always held primacy on a team that included Doc and Daryll.

When I was throwing a handball hard and low at the stoop and trying to field the comeback, I was imagining myself as Rico Brogna. I have no earthly idea why. His name sounds vaguely Italian? Apparently he hit 24 dingers for the Phillies one year, which should disqualify him, but fuck it, nostalgia.

90% of fans would have the same exact list. Maybe someone puts Andew Toney or Mo Cheeks in and maybe some old schooler puts in Wilt but that list is pretty set in stone with AI, Chuck, Doc & Moses.

We are talking favorites, not best here, too. Think about Wilt, Greer, Walker, Billy C, Luke Jackson, Mo Cheeks, Bobby Jones, Lloyd Free, Doug Collins, George McGinnis, Darryl Dawkins, Moses Malone, Dr J, Mo Cheeks, Andrew Toney, Barkley and then at least AI. Aaron McKie as a through and through Philly cat was super popular. I always loved Snow, man, that guy played incredible defense. He never got his due. Deke, Ratliff, those type of cats if you are looking more recently. Depending how old you were and what your style was, I could see picking any five from that group or even more. The organization has had some great players, almost all of those guys were All Stars. Not McKie or Snow, but 6th man of the year and all-defense selection respectively at least.

Of course Bomb secretly put Dildo Baggins as NUMBER 1,2,3,4 and 5! (c) KRS.

And you will know MY JACKET IS GOLD when I lay my vengeance upon thee.

How do you feel about his tenure with the Mets? I don't follow baseball that much, so I don't have an opinion either way really.

He was the last good manager they had...and the collapse that wasn't entirely his fault, they pinned it all on him

And the WAY they fired him, I hated them even more
I wanted him to do well, but I hated the Mets, so I was conflicted

Now, fuck them...and I'm stunned that he hasn't gotten another manager position

As for Manley, one time i saw him in a bookstore around the way like "the fuck you doing here?"

Never been the same.

Mitchell was before our time and I restricted my faves to guys I actually saw play.

Williams always got a place in my Skins heart, but he wasn't with the team that long.

When I was a kid, Dexter signed the placemat at the restaurant we were at and wrote "Don't Do Drugs". Two weeks later, he was out of the league.

I basically just went off gut feeling.

I just like Muresan cause he was a character and remember when he won most improved player....

And I saw Bogues play in the first Bullets game I ever went to, so there's sentimental value there.

And I liked Webber ever since the Fab Five.

Gil was at one point an emerging NBA Superstar before boneheadedness kicked in, and I was truly rooting for him to win.

But superstars have basically been non-existent for our team.

Players you'd rather see retire than rock another jersey.

Pat ewing.

-The Knicks’ coaching search still includes a lone frontrunner, Kurt Rambis, whose qualifications for the position include a strong relationship with Jackson and a willingness to take the job.

Spree only played 2 seasons in MN; one was the greatest season in franchise history, the other was torpedoed by his and Cassell's bitching for extensions. I considered putting Cassell on my list just for the big balls shot and celebration. I never even thought about Spree.

-The Knicks’ coaching search still includes a lone frontrunner, Kurt Rambis, whose qualifications for the position include a strong relationship with Jackson and a willingness to take the job.

Peyton.

Edge would've been one of my favorite players of all-time no matter what team he played for. aside from being a complete back who worked as hard as anybody, you also got one of the rawest interviews in NFL history:

"I missed voluntary camps this offseason, and people thought I was mad at the Colts. Voluntary means voluntary, man. If your boss made tomorrow voluntary, you might not damn well go to work either."

"Let the haters get down there in goal-line situations and feel what I have to feel to make my money, and then we can talk about selfish. We're not the only ones here making money, you know? There are a whole lot of people making money off us, and they ain't risking their knees."

Harrison was the opposite personality, seemingly a polite introvert who may in fact be a psycho these days. whatever the case, his catches and routes were poetry on the field.

Faulk ended up playing more years in St. Louis, and will be known as a Ram in history, but I loved watching him in Indianapolis. his 1998 season is one of the more overlooked performances in recent memory. still vexed the Colts could only get a second rounder for a 25-year-old Hall of Famer without a contract.

Captain Comeback.

Honorable mention: Reggie Wayne, Jason Belser, Ray Buchanan, Bob Sanders, Marcus Pollard and Tarik Glenn.

knew they were going to be doing it that offseason.

Which is why it would have been cool for the Eagles to swap picks with the Eagles in that year's draft & give us Faulk plus still be in position to draft McNabb at #4 anyway.

It may be mildly absurd to do this for a team that's going on its 9th year of existence, but I'm the guy who has been wearing a Senators hat since 1996 so I'm cool with absurd.

Bengals

1. Anthony Munoz
2. Boomer Esiason (the player, I hate Boomer as a commentator though)
3. James Brooks
4. AJ Green
5. Chad Johnson
6. Corey Dillon (didn't always like his attitude, but he was the only reason to watch the Bengals in the late 90's)
