-The Knicks’ coaching search still includes a lone frontrunner, Kurt Rambis, whose qualifications for the position include a strong relationship with Jackson and a willingness to take the job.

see the knicks could have bought out chauncey for 4 mill.
11 mill off the cap.
moved pieces around to sign Tyson.

BUT NOOOOOOOOOOOO

they picked up Chauncey's option.

Only to Amnesty him that same summer

cause of course Amar'e was going to play through his contract without majory injury.

right?

We missed out Bron and had to sign someone to get the ball rolling / attract people

They waited two years for that free agent year
It had to happen
The current coach only went there for that FA money that year
He was going into his 3rd year as the HC

I bet Felton doesn't sign if Amar'e doesn't come
Felton was in the Melo trade

Melo probably wouldn't have desired NY without him either and Tyson also said that Amar'e is one of the reason he was willing to come to NY

this is why you have never heard a Knick fan complain about Amare or his contract... they would still be an irrelevant team that nobody wanted to play for if not for overpaying Amare... it led to getting Melo and Chandler, those chips don't fall if not for Amare signing. I'm no knicks fan but with Amare healthy and beasting like he has the past few weeks they are the only team in the East who could at least truly scare Miami in a 7 game series. Don't tell me about the pacers, when the pacers had Miami's back against the wall last year we all knew what would happen, same shit will happen this year. Knicks match up well with Miami because they don't turn it over a lot and when Melo is on they can keep up with them offensively. If Amare was in late last Sunday knicks would be 3-0 vs Miami this season. Knicks problem is, will they beat someone else in a series to even get to play Miami.

last yr...and get that ass whupped even worse than the pacers did
so we're supposed to discount the pacers actually making the heat work at some point in that series and give the knicks the benefit of the doubt even though they still look like their consistently inconsistent selves right now?

but I think the Knicks, if playing the series of their life, and with Amare going 20 & 10 which he has been doing the past few games before injury, could have given them a serious run

with a healthy amare.

Miami's aggressive defense, doubling the pick and roll etc, fits into the knicks plan of getting up alot of 3's. Its how we won the first 2 games. Granted, the likelihood of the knicks shooting 20-40 from deep is as probable of them shooting 4-40 and getting blown. But if the knicks get hot, which they can and have and Melo plays like a superstar, which he can and has, it coulda been a long series.

Indiana doesn't have someone like melo to carry them (see Paul George last night) and people conveniently forget that Indiana saw only half a game of chris Bosh last postseason.

-The Knicks’ coaching search still includes a lone frontrunner, Kurt Rambis, whose qualifications for the position include a strong relationship with Jackson and a willingness to take the job.

Gallo, Willson Chandler, Fields, Mozgov, douglas & Felton (at his best.)

I was kinda OK with that little group b/c they were I think 4th or 5th in the east and young. Could have had plenty of $$ to make a run at a FA without mortgaging the farm. But still I like where we are just know we could have been a bit younger and more pieces to flip if we Gallo/Wilson didn't step up to be a #2 option.

Wasn't phx max deal gonna be 3 yrs...the knicks went 5. Who else was offerring 4?

That being said it did get the ball rolling and know we just gotta roll with this.

That dude fell of a cliff as far as relevancy. Granted some of that has to do with his play not meshing well with Melo's but the point is at this point it's not a huge loss for NY.

He was a role player now bc he was on minute restrictions but Knicks don't go anywhere with him playing 23 mins a night.....unless you want to rely on Felton and jr as your 2nd and 3rd options.

And the rhetoric that amare and melo don't play well together was false as well

playing a significant role. Would a healthy Amare be helpful? Sure, I won't dispute that, but it seems to me that they haven't had that yet this season and they could still finish as the 2 seed. They should be able to make it to the ECF without him, and if they can't, than they aren't good enough anyway.

In response to Reply # 40

after an 18-5 start, they are 20-18. The way they were shooting the 3 early in the season was not sustainable. Granted, the 3 pointer is still a big part of their game, but kidd/melo/felton/jr ain't gonna shoot >40% from deep every game like they were early on. You need that 2nd scorer who does alot of damage down low, especially in the playoffs.

Knicks need that and will miss that.

a lot of that was based on Woodson having no choice with Amare being out. I hope he picks up Woodson's defensive schemes during practices and in turn will earn Woodson's trust.

and plan to watch all the West Coast games to completion this week, you're going to be less rested than the Knicks. Assuming all the games start at 10:30, that means the games most likely won't end until after 1 in the morning.
