He wants people to think athletes pay attention to what he says. So when athletes get butthurt and scream back at him or try to "ether" him, it gives Skip literally the exact thing he wants.
There's no point to it, really. Obviously Sherman is better at life than Skip. Everyone knows that. Saying it aloud and getting mad at Skip on TV just helps Skip win.
In an ideal world, everyone fucking ignores Skip and his bullshit, he goes off the air, and life goes on. Then Skip loses.

You're right that you can't win a discussion with Skip Bayless because his simply being involved in the discussion is a win for him. I doubt many people will watch this clip (I could only make it through a minute or so) and think, "That's right. I'm going to stop watching First Take." Most will tune in tomorrow in hopes of someone else beating on Skip like he was Iron Mike Sharp.
This clip will get more hits than an insightful look at the Seahawks' secondary which is why ESPN is the shit that it is.

i actually applaud sherman for taking a shot at bayless and, by proxy, a whole class of entitled, dickhead sports 'journalists' who feel empowered to make a living at knocking what they (and a lot of society) perceive as entitled, dickhead athletes down a peg.

from how it looked he didn't do that, so he went too hard too early. it was like he had a bunch of bullet points of ways to shit on Skip and was trying to get through them too quickly.
and i'm not sure what skip said, but whatever it was was probably in reference to sherman comparing himself to revis. then skip brought up revis and sherman deflected. if he didn't want that comparison he shouldn't have made it himself.
it was also weird how quiet he was. you can't mumble "I'm better at life than you." you gotta say that shit confidently.

When you say "I'm better at life than you" (which means nothing) how can someone respond to that in a way that satisfies you? Sherman was acting like he was starting a legitimate debate when he was really just mad. All Skip had to say was "Okay, and what else?" and then he won. Really poorly thought out plan by Sherman.
For Skip's part, he did ask legitimate questions. Idk what he's said about Sherman in the past, but Sherman was the one that invoked the Revis comparison, Skip was just asking him to defend it. Skip asks a lot of awful questions, but that wasn't one of them.

At any rate, Skip actually comes across looking good in this one because he never takes the bait. It's pretty obvious Sherman's entire interview was in the can when he showed up. Skip could have said pretty much anything and Sherman would have made the exact same comments.

Answering the question with confidence and asserting his own belief that he's the better player would have been a W for him. Some might have gone in on the details of his favorable comparison, however it would be nowhere near the roasting he's getting as a result of his tantrum.
Basically, he spoke like an Okayplayer posts.

I don't court co-signs from anyone so your statement is wrong. When Richard asked Skip to backup statements made earlier he couldn't. He also exposed Skip by goading him into discussing his agendas. Rich did speak like an OKP posts.

Mark Cuban was right about everything but one thing. Saying people don't care about what Skip says is just not true. If they didn't you wouldn't get the self-ethering performance Sherman gave us.
