Parker

Lin
Conley

Vasquez

Collison

Conley/Lin are interchangeable at this point.
Vasquez putting up decent number on an ass team.
Collison sucks.

-The Knicks’ coaching search still includes a lone frontrunner, Kurt Rambis, whose qualifications for the position include a strong relationship with Jackson and a willingness to take the job.

Im fine putting Grievis in Group B. Between him Lin, and Conley they all have different strengths and weaknesses. Conley may be the better player now, but has less upside.

seasons ago. We're talking about now. Lin has less nba experience than both conley and cololisson and he's still getting better. Are collison and conley?

You asked a dumb ass question and interjected age like it was the only relevant factor and came back with an even dumber retort.

you go from southphillyman to lowermeriongentleman and code switch to your smart persona--type out much longer responses.

Thats why I dont get into the same back and forths cause they all lead in the same circles. Its fun to sit back and watch you try and troll and get ruffled though.

you either said he'd be or he belongs in the d-league.

both were obviously wrong.

DC has had his chance at a starting gig. This is his 3rd season as a starter for a team. His first season he put up similar number to Lin's. Last year was a pretty bad year for him and he dropped off to 10 pts and under 5 assists. This year hes putting up similar numbers to Lin but lower pts, assist, and rebounding numbers.

Not to mention hes already ended up in Carlisle's doghouse and is on the bench to close a lot of games in favor of Mike James.

Jeremy has more upside, he's had more double doubles, bigger career highs and overall just bigger games. Collisons played more than double the games Jeremy Lin has and has 10 more double doubles and most of those came that year he subbed for CP3.

Collison is who we think he is at this point. Rarely do you see a player who starts 3 seasons playing 30 mpg avg similar numbers accrosss those 3 years and then suddeny take a jump.
Jeremy still has plenty of room to grow and is getting better even this season. Will he get there? We'll see but most logical people would agree.

He's still wildly inconsistent and the numbers bear that out. Will he ever pull it all together? Who knows

And thats fine, I agree Conley is 100% more steady. With Conley you pretty much know what youre gonna get night in night out and that can be good or bad, but I will say more often than not its good.

When did Lin get benched again? He sat out a couple of 4th qtrs? Is that getting benched? Ive seen plenty of games this season alone where a coach rolls with whoever is playing well--especially if a bench unit brought a team back.

Lin was never close to getting benched the way Collison has been this season. The only place that narrative exists is right here on this board.

A) I said rarely. and B) Nash didnt have 3 seasons of 30 mpg. It was 2 short bursts, then the first season he had more than 50 games started there was a big jump, and then going to phx led to another jump--but weve already see you in past years blame that on the D'antoni system when arguing against Nash's MVP--so we wont revisit that for you.

No argument from me here. I think he does put it together, but I can see how someone doesnt.

Right today though, he's a player that can put up big games--sometimes its better to have that home run hitter who might strike out rather than the guy whos just gonna slap singles around all day. It really depends on your situation

what you fail to mention about collison and conley, both guys I like, btw, are that they've had years of starting in the NBA. Not to mention been playing elite level basketball since college.

and thus far, 4 and 6 years in, they are what they are. and that's not bad.

Lin is an unknown. as I've stated, how bout you evaluate him fully all star break next year. after a full year where he sets a statistical baseline? after a full training camp w/ the new pieces?

I know we get all agenda-y and silly wit it, and that's fine, but it's too early to determine what Lin is off 60% of starts.

except for the fact that he doesn't suck. and isn't worth the money. that's pretty much done at this point.

NBA games as those guys, "because he's not that good", he looks halfway decent some games because Harden so good at penetrating and teams usually have to double off Lin to help and he gets a ton of wide open looks but he's still one of the least efficient starting pg's in the NBA. There are a hundred guys in the NBA, D-league and overseas that could put up 12&6 alongside Harden in the backcourt.

I try to engage you in some thoughtful basketball dialogue then you go ham with that drunk 67 yr old uncle schtick. So before harden came if he was good its cause he has nobody else--now anything he gets is cause of Harden? You clearly aren't watching.

If I were to agree with you and say collison and Vasquez were better than lin--at the least it's still close and thats and there's also 100 guys in the nba and dleague just as good as them

>NBA games as those guys, "because he's not that good",

his first nba season he was signed for marketing. he had a european/d-league skillset @ best.

year two he's cut for cap room, and if not for desperate need on D'Antoni's part, is out the league. then he's hurt.

now he starts. please don't make it seem as if he had EVERY opportunity to play and never got the chance cause he was bad. it's not true.

he
>looks halfway decent some games because Harden so good at
>penetrating and teams usually have to double off Lin to help
>and he gets a ton of wide open looks

there's no way you watch rocket games. no way.
here's how lin scores
transition @ the rim off of misses
transition @ the rim off of turnovers
off the dribble @ the rim in the halfcourt
foul shots
jumpshots

he's not paxon/kerr/armstrong/hornacek waiting on passes wide open. he's at the rim, off his dribble, constantly. there's no way you watch the games and come up with this "ton of wide open looks" bit.

but he's still one of the
>least efficient starting pg's in the NBA.

his first year as a starting pg
with a high usage 2g who he had no time w/ in training camp
a first year starter at C
a 2nd year starter @ SF
and the youngest team in the league.

what do fast paced young teams do? turn the ball over and be inefficient.

if that isn't a recipe for efficiency, I dunno what is. how do you breathe in the vacuum you create your arguments in?

There are a hundred
>guys in the NBA, D-league and overseas that could put up 12&6

in golden state he wasn't getting tick because he was behind curry, ellis, acie law, reggie williams, and charlie bell. unless he was the second coming he wasn't going to play.

don't confuse "good" with "ready."

Larry Bird referenced Lance Stephenson as being the pacer's best player. he didn't play a lot his first 2 years. Didn't mean he wasn't good enough. He just wasn't ready at the time.

Houston, Morey has stated how much he didn't want to let Lin go. He needed to for Dalembert.

Peep D'Antoni and his stubbornness. And the fact that Melo has to repeatedly campaign for Lin to play. Not a question of talent.

so there's never been a time where it's been determined "Jeremy we can't play you because you stink."

one place he wasn't ready and there was a logjam
one place had to let him go
one place the coach was a fucking idiot (and continues to be)

and now he's here about to make the playoffs in his first year in the L.

that clear it up for you?

those last 3 dudes aren't even in the league any more, lol

That kinda supports my point that there are dudes in the D-league and overseas that could put up 12&6 like Lin if given the opportunity

depending on whether or not they like a guy
if a dude is horribly inefficient they either just completely bypass their core analysis method
or add hella qualifiers

i'm not going go as far as saying d leaguers would put up 12 and 6
but you'd certainly expect a player as good as they claimed Linsanity was to put up more than that on a team that plays at the pace the rockets do

basically any starting PG getting 30+ minutes a night is going to do that especially playing with a scorer like Harden. Jarrett Jack is doing that off the bench with the Warriors.

I knew you werent saying Collison was better than TP, but you really want to put him in the same boat as the other guards? Have you been following this season at all besides box scores?

That being said, Greivis is better than Lin.

Better rebounder, better passer, both got broke ass j's.

Vasquez damn near leading the league in assists while Lin ain't even close with a top 5 scorer on his squad.

Lin just got more hype, I'll take General all day.

In response to Reply # 87

Theres a whoel Agnda war going on over there between guys who joined the board in the past year who get labelled LOFs or Lin only fans and the guys who have been on Clutch forever who are the LOH = Lin Only Haters.

Its hilarious cause a lot of the LOFs are Chinese or Asian and english isnt their first language and the LOHs troll the fuck out of them.

Only time there is peace is in a game like last night where the Rockets win and Jeremy has a good game. Otherwise theres always some madness.

A lot of the Lin only fans think Mchale has some conspiracy out to get Lin cause he cut him last year and Morey bringing him back was an insult.

Mchale on Jeremy Lin from last night:

Jeremy has had a ton of good games from us. That’s the high end but any time you’ve got 8-14, 21 points, nine assists and 2 turnovers that’s the high end for anybody – that’s the high end for Chris Paul. But he’s had a lot of games where he’s had high end games. It’s like with all of our young guys: as you get older you just get more consistent. I think what Jeremy proved last year is that with his high end ceiling, he can get on a roll and sustain it for a long time.

The other thing about Jeremy: He didn’t play the fourth quarter last game but he didn’t care because he was so excited for Patrick (Beverley). He’s a great teammate as well.
