"Dwight is committed to playing!... in the All-Star Game."

The sound you hear is everyone who has defended Dwight's desire to stay off the court and heal slapping their foreheads simultaneously.

lmao @ D'Antoni's awesome 'bliminals.

Dwight Howard wants to play
Updated: February 11, 2013, 7:22 PM ET
By Ramona Shelburne | ESPNLosAngeles.com

EL SEGUNDO, Calif. -- Dwight Howard said he intends to play in this weekend's NBA All-Star Game as long as he doesn't aggravate the torn labrum in his right shoulder during the Los Angeles Lakers' final two games before the break.

"Hopefully I'll be able to play," Howard said before the Lakers practiced Monday. "If I were to re-aggravate my shoulder in these next two games, I'd probably just play a couple minutes (in the All-Star Game) and sit the rest of it out."

Howard has missed six games with the shoulder injury this season, most recently three contests on the Lakers' recently completed seven-game Grammy road trip.

Lakers coach Mike D'Antoni said he doesn't have a problem with Howard playing in the All Star Game, despite the injury.

"Resting is not going to help it, so he might as well play," D'Antoni said. "He can get hit and need a couple of days to get the pain away and he'll be back. But he can do it. Obviously we practiced today and he can do it in practice."

Howard said that playing in the All-Star Game is important to him because of what it means to the fans, but that he won't risk further injury if he doesn't feel healthy enough.

Instead of sitting out completely though, Howard likely would start the game alongside teammate Kobe Bryant, Los Angeles Clippers Blake Griffin and Chris Paul, and Oklahoma City's Kevin Durant, then come out after a few minutes.

"It's important but at the same time, my health is more important," said Howard, who is making his seventh All-Star appearance. "I just want to make sure I'm healthy for the rest of the season. All-Star Game is one game and it doesn't really count for our team. So if I'm healthy enough to go out there and play as long as I can, then I'll play."

1. If you're on the court, you can get hurt. We've seen players get hurt in the All-Star game before.

2. It's not even about whether he can get hurt. It's about telling fans you need every second of rest possible, including missing games... and then not taking All-Star Weekend to rest.

3. The life of a Washington General is very strenuous. They lose ALL THE TIME. That must weigh heavily on your soul.

and leads the league in rebounds with a fucked up back and one shoulder, while playing on a shitty team and a fucked up coach.

Let that man live.

Lakers ain't goin NOWHERE this year, so him playing in the annual guard exhibition ain't hurting nothing

I don't think I imagined that.

And was the last media frenzy about how Kobe said they needed Dwight on the court, and Dwight made it a point to not publicly agree, saying he needs to think about his career when it comes to his injury?

Again, I don't think I imagined that either.

And is this not a market with a "super team" of talent that expects a title every year, who is wildly unlikely to let this man live in the court of public opinion?

The more Laker fans I talk to, the more I hear question whether Dwight even seems like the guy you WANT to be The Guy. He's now shown multiple times when shit hits the fan, he's not looking out for the franchise or the fans, he's looking out for Dwight.

And things like this kind of underscore that basic dilemma.

dwight's missed 6 games this year. SIX.
Coming off a backiotomy.
Still leads the league in rebounds.
Getting used like he's Will Perdue by the Lakers.

Him sitting or not sitting might cost the Lakers 10 games from this point on. In any event, they gonna still be sorry. And he ain't nowhere near the top five problems the lakers have.

Him playing at the ASG is completely fucking irrelevant. The lakers won't be better if he doesn't go. And they won't be worse if he does.

D'antoni still the coach, and the team still slow.

Let that man live

But he is, however, hurt enough to need to rest during Laker games with a playoff spot in jeopardy.

If you don't think Kobe's throwing dishes in his house reading this report, you're wrong.

U guys are mixing apples and oranges here...

Further more...this whole "bitch" storyline is weak at best...

Howard's problem isn't that he's a bitch...It's the fact that he's not too smart when it comes to his media game and he wants to be loved by everybody...
