Handchecks constantly. Im pretty sure I even read that he admits he fouls all the time because he knows they cant call everything. Flops and tries to sell everything. Maybe he's a good leader but he just seems WAY too pressed out there, almost like he's being a "leader" for show. He's annoying. I don't like hackers/floppers who act too pressed.
And this part is not his fault, but the way the announcers often make him the story/focus of the game is ridiculous.

you have to decide if you can exploit a team transitioning to D after a missed FT or if a play out of a timeout is better. I don't think you have to take a timeout there & Craft did get all the way to the rim. Honestly, I thought Craft made the right decision but it just didn't work out..

... you need to realize that foul, even if you draw it, is unlikely to be called.
If that's the case, crossing mid-court, calling the time out with about 5.5 seconds left, and setting up a shot seems to me to be the right call. Worst comes to worst, you can STILL have Craft go hard to the hoop.
But then again, the "rightness" of that call is moot, since if he makes the shot or he draws the foul, people would view the decision differently. I'm just never really in favor of leaving timeouts untaken at the end of a game.

Obviously "lousy" is an exaggeration, but I judge coaches heavily on their ability to adjust strategy mid-game. Cuz if shit is hitting the fans in the first half, that's when the kids lean on their coach the most. And Matta simply isn't very good at that.
Replace "lousy" with "worse than his record indicates."

He's draftable in the pros solely for his defense, no lie. Insanely stifling. Put him in the hands of a coach who knows how to develop PG talent and let him grow. I'd take that flier on him. With it becoming more and more of a PG-centric lead, teams need the "stoppers." Craft can be that.
Florida is playing a Duke style of ball this year. If the 3s aren't falling, they won't win. The 3s weren't falling and Arkansas couldn't miss. Not really an indictment of Florida's squad, which is really good... but it does speak to the general vulnerability of a style of play revolving around the 3. Which I am all too familiar with.

While obviously it would be better if he was a dynamo on offense AND the best defensive point guard I've seen in recent memory, as he'd then be a lock for a lottery draft pick, I still put tremendous value on the one stellar thing he does bring to the table.
Yes, his tendency for hero ball when offense isn't necessarily his forte likely cost them at the end of a game... yet they wouldn't have been remotely in that game without Craft doing what he does best.
