"Today in Bad-Dadding: Allen Iverson"

Um. Them conditions? Um. I don't think that's gonna happen. The first and last sentence of this swipe are lol worthy.

http://www.tmz.com/2013/02/03/allen-iverson-divorce-custody-finalized/

Allen Iverson -- once considered the best player in the NBA -- is a terrible parent ... a horrible, irresponsible, pathetic excuse for a parent ... this according to an Atlanta family court judge.

Iverson just officially became a single man -- after the ATL judge signed off on his divorce from Tawanna Iverson ... the mother of his five children.

But in the final divorce decree, the judge UNLOADS on A.I. ... saying:

" does not know how to manage the children; has little interest in learning to manage the children and has actually, at times, been a hindrance to their spiritual and emotional growth and development.

For example, he has refused to attend to an obvious and serious alcohol problem, which has caused him to do inappropriate things in the presence of the children while impaired.

He has left the children alone without supervision. He has left his young daughters in a hotel room with men who are unknown to the mother."

The judge has awarded Tawanna legal and physical custody of the kids. Allen has some visitation rights ... but ONLY if he abides by certain conditions.

Among them ... Allen must NOT drink a drop of alcohol for the next 18 months. And there's more ... until all of his kids become adults , he can't consume alcohol within 24 hours of the times he has the kids.

He's also been ordered to see a shrink and attend AA meetings for a year.

We reached out to Allen for comment -- but he wasn't there for us when we needed him.

I was hoping for at least one reasonable comeback effort for him, let him retire somewhere actually in the league. All this stuff I'm doing is just extra to poke at the agenda flames. Other than that, I really do feel for the guy.

AI was coming to the hearings drunk or something?

it's a divorce proceeding dumbass
the wife is going to bring as much dirt as possible
and the woman is going to get the benefit of the doubt the majority of the time as it pertains to custody
her lawyers used his rep against em to ensure their client receives x amount of dollars going forward
not mad, cheaper to keep her

on top of all that unless the mom is batshit crazy like wade ex
ain't a judge in america giving custody to a current or former nba player
u think kobe was getting them two girls if vanessa had left his ass?
u think shaq had a chance in hell of getting them kids from his square head ex wife?
its a reason why u got this shit from TMZ
now go head and call me mad or emotional or some other dumb shit
meanwhile yall weirdo niggas got RSS feeds set up to track the downfall of a man u don't know
shit just a lil sadistic and weird at this point especially since shit ain't got nutin to do with ball (or agendas) and the nigga been out the league for a minute now

And personally, it's very sad to me, and parts of your argument I agree with. I doubt if he was THAT terrible of a parent, and I think some of that is his ex being over-emotional in the courtroom.

BUT

When Zeke was called a bad-dad, this board PILED on, cracked NUMEROUS jokes...it's AI's turn now. Only thing that makes this unfortunate is the alcohol problem (which I don't believe fully, otherwise that would have been reported WAY BEFORE a divorce proceeding)

So you're saying you've never seen one of your parents act inappropriate under the influence of alcohol

c'mon

leaving his children with people unknown to the mother, doesn't really sound like a valid complaint

how old are his kids now

if we're talking about infants, I might be concerned

but I think his kids are closer to teenagers by now

I think they should be able to be left alone

but great reporting by TMZ

and everything SPM said above

got deleted

Bomb actually posted it in GD, where this will probably get the attention you're looking for

"it's news"

I'm saying it's not news

I've seen my parents act inappropriate (kind of an arbitrary word for a court proceeding) while under the influence of alcohol

and it is far from an indication of them as parents

if you haven't

I'd guess you don't spend enough time with your parents, they don't party, or something like that

I looked up his kids' ages

I think his oldest is 17 Y.O.

is a 17 Y.O. being left alone or with people her mother doesn't know news?

without specifics

like an account of the individual incidents

establishing a history, etc...(whether alcoholic or parental wise)

this reads like shock journalism

and I question the motive for it being posted

.

she chose the person with whom to make babies with

that doesn't give you license to chose what kind of person that person should be

IMO

as far as all that extra stuff, there's a lot more that we don't know than what we do know, so I'm not going to jump to any conclusions about him based off a snippet from TMZ. And let's not kid ourselves, I don't think anyone figured Bubba to be the type of father that comes home to his wife and kids every night, plays some catch in the backyard and falls asleep watching TV. So none of this should be shocking. At least he had all five kids with one woman, that's more than a lot of athletes can say.

Thats funny because AI didn't give a statement to TMZ about his divorce and custody ruling? And they make a snarky remark about it?

first: http://25.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_m8rjb3rteY1qa7gyjo2_250.gif

- everyone gets the bad dad treatment @ OKS. jason caffey, scott skiles, travis henry, zeke. Let's not act brand new.

- I coulda folded into the D-League post, or stated how his possible alcohol issues might be what's keeping him out the league. I made a bad dad post.

- this judge, and the words "bad, dad, and iverson" are going to go viral. Now either the judge wanted some shine and overstepped like shit, which leaves iverson's team fantastic grounds for appeal, or between the law guardian for the kids, a likely forensic psychology exam of all parties, and witness testimony, there was enough merit the conditions set. that's a huge risk to take on the judge's behalf, unless there's something concrete.

- Allen Iverson ain't broke, as #TeamGOAT loves to shout from the rooftops. So either he hired mike tyson's rape case attorney, which is dumb, or doesn't have the paper for proper representation, there's no way his shit should be in the street like this, whether it be fabricated or justified.

- and I found the first line funny cause who ever thought AI was the best player in the league during his career. That's TMZ getting MVP fucked up with best player, AND their last line was just petty and shitty, which are things that make me laugh.

or he had well paid people that argued on his behalf.

there's a reason Wade and Usher have their kids, and millions of Dads don't.

so if the issue is "the mother set him up to look bad" then it's in his teams best interest to counter that, so a restrictive custody order like this can't be put in place.

so either he hired bad representation. OR he didn't have enough coin to get people to do the job right.

clear?

exempt from TMZ reports & lawyers leaking information or accusations from divorce proceedings when that happens to billionaires.

LOL @ the horrible OJ analogy or the citing of a couple of the only major examples of male celebrities who've won custody (both with women who had a history of instability) as if every other man who didn't just didn't have enough scratch.

money's made a shit ton of things go away.

wow that Cruise-Holmes thing sure did get put to rest quick, didn't it?

If done right, it doesn't get like this. and yeah your biz might be in the streets, sometimes that's unavoidable.

but if you need to be alcohol free for 18 months, and not have a drink within 24 hours of seeing any of your kids til 18, either the judge has overreached and is super biased, which is grounds for appeal, your representation let you get railroaded, your fault for picking the wrong people or not being able to pay the right ones....

or you might just be super fucked up, which is why you're likely to never again play in the NBA.

I just made a Bad Dad post. If it was Korleone Young, I doubt anyone would give a shit.

That said, the larger issue of father's rights, court, bias, finances? Not for this board, and definitely not on a sunday.

it has nothing to do with basketball

alot of what you're using to prop up your argument is not what you posted

you posted a TMZ report

what's more

you posted it on SB Sunday

the biggest sports day in the US

it comes off like an agenda

sort of like the deer antler story breaking during SB week

that AI scar must have cut deep into your soul

especially with is name being in actual basketball convo this week

as you are well aware

you should have posted this in there

I guess you can't have enough AI dogpile posts on OKaySports

party on Wayne

even cooler when he stepped over tyronn lue like he was dog shit

and since then?
I really havent given a fuck about dude. check all the iverson/kobe agenda posts. not me, jack. don't give a fuck.

i came across it in my sunday morning news reading. OKS has a running theme of bad dads. I posted it. It also may shine a light as to why he's not in the league.

other than that, mean's jack shit to me, B.

You gotta understand, AI was SPM's nigga...I hardly ever saw that muhfucka talk about ANYONE ELSE for my first 3 years posting on this board. he been fucked up since AI fell off.

Shit, I got mad when niggas tried to say Zeke tried to kill himself and blamed his daughter. Ain't nobody above gettin emo. It's obvious muhfuckas care by the way we post.

All I'm saying is from a personal standpoint, seeing AI go from lost prodigy to #1 pick to MVP...becoming a husband and dad...back down to THIS?!?!? It's sad as fuck and way beyond any agendas.

I just find it hilarious that spm stay talking bout melo being a bad dad cause he leave his son with weed carriers, but now that its ai, the rationale is what's this got to do with basketball? lolz.

In response to Reply # 0

since OkaySports is so concerned about parenting

can we talk about these parents FORCING golf on their kids

first of all

I don't even think golf can be enjoyed by any person under 12 years of age

it's so mental

requires so much attention and repetition

and you don't have any team mates

you're completely on your own

When I see a parent FORCING golf on their kid

it feels cruel and unusual

and I want to run over to the parent and tell them to let their kid be a kid

STOP TORTURING YOU KID

Do you really want your kid to turnout like Tiger Woods?

Really?

There are overbearing Little League parents, soccer parents, basketball parents, football parents, and yes, probably golf parents too. This has been well documented. There are countless essays, articles, and news programs about this problem. Are you saying that somehow overbearing golf parents are worse than in other sports?

I'm sure Iverson has his demons like anyone else...And I hope that if his relationship with his kids is indeed that troubling, he gets his shit together...

But folks jumping on this like some tabloid shit need to slow down...If you have ever gone through a divorce or if you know anyone that has gone through a divorce, you know that it can get pretty rough in terms of he said, she said...And the "she" usually has the upper hand...

You can read this type of gut-wrenching back and forth on any divorce case for Mr. and Mrs. Joe Public...

It ain't that at all CRAZY....

GOAT of his era......long live Prince.....God is alive....
