is it me or are saturdays scheduled a whole lot better than they used to be 4 or 5 years ago?
interesting games on the slate.
Syracuse vs Pitt - Noon Carolina vs VT - Noon Duke vs FSU - 2pm Ok State vs Kansas - 4pm NC State vs Miami - 4pm Kentucky vs A&M - 6pm Ole Miss vs Florida - 7pm Michigan vs Indiana - 9pm

McAdoo's doing a nice job attacking the middle of that zone. I don't think we want to encourage him to shoot MORE 15 footers, but he's been solid so far.

This is by far the best I've seen Adams look offensively. I've only been able to watch maybe half of their games this year, though, so I could be wrong.
And as I write that he leaves the game with an eye injury. Hope he comes back quickly.

that record would be more noteworthy if ya'll were playing challenging non conference games there, which ya'll don't(and that goes for road games as well).

Also please report back Uconn's last 14 home games vs the top 10 Big east teams and let me know if it's 13-1 or better otherwise you're just mad and making no real point since it's not that easy to do it.

whining about the 13-1 isn't impressive because of this or that, meanwhile some of the wins came over your squad and your squad doesn't have a similar record against the same competition at home.
But keep telling me why the 13-1 is less impressive and how I'm upset.
I was starting to get really frustrated with Paige this season, but his scoring ability is going to be huge for us. Also, he is just a freshman. Great game for him.
Reggie's shot isn't always on, but I like how he has stepped up and been more aggressive.
When McAdoo faces the basket and plays aggressive he looks great. When he is tentative and is taking fadeaway jumpers he looks terrible. I can't stand the fans hating on him, he plays hard out there (although not always smart).

Dex is a senior and Roy is loyal to his guys (like when Ginyard started over Green). Dex has not grown in anyway since he joined the team and I hate to say that because he tries as hard as anyone else out there. But you just can't have 2 out of 5 guys in your starting line up who can't score (and usually 3 out of 5 when Paige isn't on). I am going to have nightmares of Dex's 16 foot wide open fade away jumpers that never go in.
When PJ recovers from his concussion he needs to get at least 25 minutes a game. If not Roy is either stubborn or has lost his damn mind. I will say that I thought he was insane for giving Jackson Simmons minutes and while he can't score like Brice he is always in position on defense, for rebounds, and in the right spot on the offensive end of the floor.

FSU is young and got caught looking on D a few times, but we moved the ball beautifully, didn't force shots, and made our good looks. Plumlee didn't need to do a thing. Felt great to see us play intelligent organized basketball at both ends in a venue where we traditionally struggle.
K bringing them to Tally a day early to practice paid off.
I'm also laughing my ass off at Marshall Plumlee traveling all the time and taking awful shots exactly like Miles and Mason did their freshman years.

Talking in the post-game about how K used Jefferson and Murphy to replace Kelly. Did Murphy even play today after that airball 3 pointer? Except for the Miami game, in which he played cuz K punted early, he's gotten like 5 minutes or fewer, if he plays at all.

that said, can we just avoid reminiscing about Pearl? yeah, he was great for Tennessee, but dude spilled the milk himself and let it sour. Pearl basically quit the program, and several of the current issues can be traced back to that exit.

McLemore is studly at a position where there aren't many elite players right now... but Noel is one of those will-to-win guys. Ferocious on defense, unafraid to hit the deck, one of the best shot blocking bodies and hands I've seen in college ball... he's like Joakim Noah's bammaness with a Marcus Cambyesque effect on defense. That's such a game-changing combination.
Not that I'm saying anything surprising. But when I see mocks with Cody or Shabazz ahead of him... why?

NBADraft.net has LaMarcus Aldridge, which is dumb. I see him as closer to like a Luis Scola Jr. Which, you're right, merits at worst Top 10.
It all depends on whether the team drafting wants a win-now piece or a piece that's more raw and can develop more. I think Zeller's ceiling is lower than, say, Otto Porter, MCW, Marcus Smart, or even some of the other more raw bigs like Len. But he works hard, so he'll stick, and he's smart, so he'll do well for himself.
I disagree that this draft is weak btw. I think it'll be a lot like last year-- only a couple of guys ready to contribute big time right away, but plenty of guys in the late first round and early second that can stick and be guys off the bench. With so many freshmen with talent, a few of them (the UK guys in particular) will take a few years before we can tell.

Poythress, Harrow, even the usually reliable Wiltjer... insane how this team's youth has minimized their talent's potential so far this year, minus Noel.
This could all change by tourney time, obviously. But the difference between last year's freshmen and this year's freshmen... couldn't be greater.
I think y'all will win this though. Especially with Harris now out.
Davis and Noel are similar in composure... but I'd value MKG over any of the freshmen at this point, no question. Sure, he's a better player than any of these guys, but Poythress, the guy who should have the second highest ceiling IMO, is super inconsistent.
You're right that the age helps. This team doesn't and won't have that... and since I'd still value Goodwin, Poythress, and WCS as first round picks, next year might not really get it either (though Harrow staying would help).

And their responsibilities weren't as huge as Noel, Goodwin, Poy & WCS.
If they 3 out of 4 of them don't play we'll we can't beat mediocre teams.
2 out of the 3 last year could not have great games and we could beat good teams.
A.D. Didn't have to defend bigs on the ball like that because Jones. Noel has more responsibility.
And last years team picked up the habits of the returning players.
The biggest difference I see between the two classes are the players personalities. Where MKG & Teague are tough as nails and not passive....Archie, Alex, and Ryan are quiet and keep to themselves. They have to be prodded to show emotion.

Poythress last night was still sleepwalking through stretches.
Harrow still made a few lame-brained decisions.
Don't get me wrong, these guys are too talented for me to bet against. Depending on matchups, I'd still bank on an Elite 8. Too many pros.
Just saying. I woulda thought by this point in the year, Cal woulda had these guys rolling against a team like A&M, especially considering what happened earlier in the year. There's no reason matchup-wise, on paper, for A&M to hang with these boys.
