>I know people look at Nique a certain way because we grew up >watching him & MJ facing off in dunk contests but the reality >is Iverson is better than Nique in pretty much every area >aside from field-goal percentage/rebounding (both should be >adjusted for position & it'd be closer) and dunking. See, here's the thing You say adjust for position, but below you say stay objective. If that's the case, you should also adjust for era.
>There is literally no individual accolade or team >accomplishment 'Nique has that AI doesn't have more of besides >Slam Dunk titles. > >All-Star Appearances (11 to 9), First-Team All-NBAs (3 to 1), >Scoring Titles (4 to 1), PPG, playoff series wins, ROY, MVP. The scoring titles AI wouldn't win if he played in Jordan's era, neither would he have won an MVP And if the MVP is the case, should I list Nash and KG as better as well? Back to Wilkins, if you want to count playoff series wins, fine. But I dare you to say that AI would get far at all playing in Nique's era. The fact that he got anywhere with that ATL team is incredible. The scoring titles, he finished 2nd to Jordan 3 times, and won when Jordan missed the season. AI wouldn't win scoring titles in the 80's either, in Jordan's era. The ROY you win, as well as the all NBA first teams (although Nique had to contend with Larry Bird)...but Nique was far more effective as a shooter, and did his scoring in a much tougher era.
It's way closer than I thought, and I'll give you the Nique memories, but to say adjust for position and not adjust for the era which includes Magic/Michael/Larry is crazy
>AI/Nique is really not close by any objective measure, >meanwhile Bernard King vs AI isn't even a conversation except >in Knick Fans' minds. Nique was a better player...closer than I thought but he was. No way AI does what Nique did in the 80's, but I could easily say Nique would be just as dominant in the late 90's/early 2000's. As for Bernard King, eehhh
