Dude routinely talks about team defense and sharing the ball offensively. I mean this dude is coming off back surgery, wasn't supposed to be back until January, and outside of J Hill, Clark, Metta, and Nash has given the most effort for his respective conditioning.
If you ever watch us again, watch how frustrated he gets with the lack of team defensive support. It's like they just expect him to alter every shot and get every rebound afterwards. I've seen him frustrated after WINS because our guys do not help the helper man. Compounded with him still regaining form after the surgery, he has every right to be frustrated...but has done a good job of focusing it into team play.

Pau doesn't have the footspeed, lateral movement, or energy to give us what we need from the 4 spot, defensively or on the boards. While Dwight is on the floor, we need a versatile high energy man at the 4....and that's why both Clark and J Hill have played well alongside him while Pau hasn't.

Kobe and Shaq worked because Shaq was a beast and made life easier for Kobe. Kobe and Pau work because Pau's offensive game on the inside makes Kobe's job easier and Kobe has faith in giving Pau the ball in the post. Dwight just takes up room and fucks it up for everyone because his offensive game is not evolving and no opposing teams respects it. Trade his ass and gets some role players that can hit open 3s and play defense, like the Lakers used to have.
The Lakers really don't have time to sit here trying to reinvent how this team is going to flow. Kobe, Nash and Gasol have major mileage. But the thing is, they are all smart enough to play together because you have to respect all of them and they can all play off of eachother. Plus, keeping Dwight and resigning him doesn't do anything, because you can't build around Dwight. Orlando has shown us that he's not franchise. So what happens later when you still have Dwight after Kobe, Gasol and Nash are gone, and he's still looking for somebody to spoon-feed him the ball because he still doesn't have any post moves 3 years from now?

You trade Pau, and there goes your low post threat...cause Howard ain't that. If you don't have a low post threat, what does the offense look like? Kobe jacking shots, that's what it looks like. Or Nash/ Dwight pick and roll. Does anyone really want to see that? Laker fans bitch about the shots Kobe takes, but the only thing that has shown to prevent that is a big man in the middle that commands some sort of respect on offense. You're not getting that with Dwight, and on top of that, Pau can't work with Dwight there. Which is why Kobe is probably shooting so much.
You can replace what Dwight brings on defense, but who is going to replace what Pau brings on offense (while Kobe is there)?
It's much easier to find a guy who can get you 10 - 12 rebounds a game, than a guy that you can work through on the block. Plus the guy that works on the block, gets you tons of open shots in the process. Dwight does block shots, but I'd much rather have good perimeter defenders so that the guy who's supposed to be grabbing my defensive boards isn't out of position on every defensive play, because no one can keep their man in front of them.

and don't forget, aside from some games where Kobe absolutely forced the issue, he's having a great season. He's by far the best player on the Lakers. Pau needs the ball more in the post. Plain and simple. The Lakers need to get him about 18 shots per game. If D'antoni can't do that, fire his ass.
Howard needs to play like the best center in the league and anchor the defense, and don't complain when the team doesn't feel the need to run the offense through his broke ass post game. He needs to also imnprove his overall offensive game. If Serg Ibaka can make a huge leap in one off-season, this nigga should be capable of hitting a 15 ft jumper consistantly after all these goddamn years. Shit's ridiculous.
Steve Nash, Dwight and Pau need to stay healthy or learn to play through injuries like Bean.

If you watched this dude play D off the ball the entire game, you wouldn't be sure what sport he was playing. He puts our defense into scramble mode because someone has to run out onto his man or it simply results in a layup.
