"Trade Scenario: Dirk to the Lakers for Gasol and Clark"
Thu Jan-17-13 04:28 PM by all stah

http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=bbv6n5s

lakers: nash/kobe/mwp/dirk/howard

mavs: collison/mayo/marion/clark/gasol

dirk to the lakers for pau gasol and earl clark. Lakers are not into developing young players. That has never been their thing. They always role with veteran players. Dirk would be able to reunite with nash, and the lakers would get another offensive threat.

Dallas would get more rebounding through paul, and get a josh smith like player in Earl Clark....The financial language works out, and both parties would get a fair deal.

how is it nonsense?

it's just a trade scenario. pau is making 19 mil( 2yrs)...dirk is making 20mil (2 years)

clark is making about 1 million

Dirk is dealing with a rebuilding situation in dallas, and we know he is not going to win the chip anytime soon. lakers still got some pieces to push for a chip, and Dirk would be able to reunite with Nash in high output offense

Pau is not happy in LA land, and we all know that his days are almost numbered in LA. Dallas needs rebounding, and pau is a great rebounder, and dallas also need some strength and athleticism at the PF position.Clark would be able to bring that.

with dirk and howard in the paint, I think la would be able to make a strong push for at least 2-3 years.

After this year, earl clark will be a free agent. Dude's stock is through the roof. Will they be able to resign him, because they have to resign dwight?

We all know about the gasol situation ...his days in LA are over

Dirk aint for the rebuilding mode that is going on right now. He said the other day that he didn't want to be on a team that only fights for the 8th seed.

Dirk wants to win, so sending him to LA to unite with nash while playing with other star players wouldn't be such a bad idea.

>because they have to resign dwight?

Was it through the roof when he played on three teams in three seasons? I thought it was a great pick by Phoenix and I'm glad to see him getting some burn. But let's not get overly gassed here.

And if he is that key of a player, why do the Lakers move him? If they trade him and Gasol for Dirk, what are they gaining? A scorer? They have plenty of scoring. Meanwhile they lose two solid rebounders who are also versatile offensively.

>We all know about the gasol situation ...his days in LA are
>over

Sure but who is going to take him in a trade that would actually help them?

>Dirk aint for the rebuilding mode that is going on right now.
>He said the other day that he didn't want to be on a team that

Right, because the Lakers are running away with a top seed! If he goes to the Lakers, he'll be on exactly that, a middling team fighting for a road playoff series.

>Dirk wants to win, so sending him to LA to unite with nash
>while playing with other star players wouldn't be such a bad
>idea.

Dirk will probably retire a Mav, dude. You think Cuban is making a deal with the Lakers like that? What do they get here? The rights to a guy who probably be on the open market next summer anyway and a year and change of a beat-up Gasol?

And you will know MY JACKET IS GOLD when I lay my vengeance upon thee.

I don't see dirk retiring as a Mav. He said that he didn't want to be on a team that only fights for the 8th seed, and he said that he wants to play for 2-3 more years......That means he wants to contend, and dallas is not going to be contending anytime soon.

Dallas' man problem is REBOUNDING, and paul is an excellent rebounder and so is clarke

dallas pf/centers: brand/kaman/sarge/wright....all crap in the rebounding/defense department

because Dirk is semi-superstar....so you got name, history( nash), and the potential to have a high potent front court with dirk/howard in Mike's offense.

teams don't always make trades based on needs.

it's not that serious. it's just a scenario.

This shit is simple logic: We are excellent on the offensive end and need defensive help + footspeed. Henceforth, it makes absolutely no sense to trade for a plodding, defensive liability. Shit is pretty simple.

you're not excellent on the offensive end. that's for got damn sure, and the rating is overrated.

we just agree to disagree

and you talking defense in a D'antoni system is a WASTE of time, because he does not focus on defensive players.

you don't score when you need to score, or when you should score....

more delusion, just like the beginning of the season when you guys told me that the lineup was going to be the best in the nba, and that I didn't know what I was talking about.

i told you that the team was going to be shit and old on paper

look at you now.

i feel sorry for you guys

And thus, we need to address our defensive problems. It's simple but as is the norm (and as this trade offer and your subsequent replies only serves to reinforce), even simple logic and basketball is somehow too obtuse for you to comprehend. Thus, no point in me wasting more keystrokes.

Based on your edit: If the team is old and slow and shit, as you said it would be, then why would we trade youth and athleticism in E Clark for more old and slow? Good grief.

your fucking coach is mike d'antoni.

Offense is defense to him. that is the system that he works

0-0

you had a defensive coach, remember?...maybe you are still caught up in time.

but you are going to still yell and scream at the tv hollering defense because you are delusional.

Dirk is a better defender than pau, but pau is the better rebounder. ..even though both are not known for their defense.

However, dirk provides a toughness that pau does not possess, and pau just needs a change of scenery

and there is no such thing as too much offensive.

You can never have too much offense, and sometimes a potent offense can be a great form of defense ....

that's D'antoni's scheme anyway. Keep the attack up with offense, but he needs highly skilled offensive players to run that system.

he does not have the right players to run his system. That was talked about on NBATV the other day
