you gotta at least attempt a 20-plus yard pass.

If you miss it, the Hail Mary is still almost the same amount of likelihood.

moving up/around in the pocket before he delivered the pass he made.

They also could have tried a middle & time-out but that would have been more risky timewise if the refs don't give them the call right away.

Either way, they got a gift & the only way to actually have a non 'miracle' shot at it was to use that first play to get into reasonable FG range.

Trying to do so statistically would probably be worth the risk.

Of course, if Carroll hadn't fucked up in the first half it's a non-issue & we know it always comes down to those kind of errors in the final score.

along the sideline perhaps.

Russ moved in the pocket, settled, then went sideline but short while leaving time.

poetx could draw up a play in that scenario.

that they ended up going with, which was after a couple full seconds moving in the pocket.

That left them with two seconds when he got out of bounds for the final play as it was.

give himself up and call timeout.

but you're dependent upon the refs recognizing the call and ruling the receiver down. but still.

w/ 6 secs, they had to throw the hail mary.

peace & blessings,

Even if you had Seabass or Legatron, it would have about a 5% chance of going through, but a record breaking game winning FG to win a playoff game on the road after you were down 20 in the 4th? I'm sorta wishing it happened now.

Pretty sure he was trying to get Al to fire him at that point (the overhead projector press conference came shortly thereafter as did his refusal to pay the rest of the contract) but he claimed with a straight-face post-game that he really thought he could hit it because he kicks 70+ in practice.

Asshole shit on all sides but that episode was classic comedy.

-The Knicks’ coaching search still includes a lone frontrunner, Kurt Rambis, whose qualifications for the position include a strong relationship with Jackson and a willingness to take the job.
