"What deals are out there for MVPau?"

he makes $19M for this season and next. he's 32 and has tendonitis in his knees. at this point, he looks like he has to play center, not PF. and the lakers are looking for athleticism and 3-pt shooting in return.

a deal for rudy gay would be cool, especially to reunite the gasol bros, but they've already got z-bo. so that's probably a non-starter.

lol amare

philly could give up some combo of thad, j-rich, hawes and wright, but not sure where that would leave the sixers with the bynum situation. it would clear thad and j-rich off the payroll, which is something. they could do a year with the former lakers front court, then have pau's money come off. the likely combo would be hawes, wright and either j-rich/thad.

what else?

If Jeff Green would step up and be who he is supposed to be then this wouldn't be the case. All we need is for someone to step up and be the #1 scoring option. That way we rely less on nightly all star contributions from Paul Pierce and we can give less minutes to "offensive spark plugs" who are inept on the defensive side of the ball (jason terry)

I said all like thats some easy shit to come by, but still. Also, a rapid speed up on Fab Melo's development wouldn't hurt.

Run D12, Hill, MWP, Kobe, Nash to start, and bring Pau off to run with the 2nd unit.

But Rudy Gay? Nah.

As bad as Bargnani is, he's no worse than guys like Tim Thomas. All he would need to do is knock down shots.

To me a trade with Toronto is perfect for both teams.

Bargnani & Landry Fields (lol) for Pau?

Like you said, Memphis has no need for Pau. The Lakers could really use Gay's very good perimeter defense, he would fit well in Pringles system, and most importantly they can afford his absolutely ATROCIOUS contract.

But they need a 3rd team to take Pau. Candidates that I see:

Timberwolves (Derrick Williams, filler, not sure if the money works tho)
Nuggets (Gallo, filler)
Raptors (Andr...lol I can't even finsh it. Not fucking happening.)
Rockets (probably can't make the money work now, but have the cap space in the offseason to do so)
Celtics (would Jeff Green be an acceptable replacement in Memphis for Gay?...believe it or not maybe since he would save them $8-$10 million)

gasol for gallo/wilson chandler/mozgov

which team turns that down?

i think d'antoni would love to have gallo and chandler back. but the nuggets would be worried about losing their only real perimeter threat -- plus they already have faried, mcgee and koufos at the PF/C position. dumping two four-year contracts in gallo and chandler might have some appeal. anyway, denver is a possibility in a multi-player deal, as kajun pointed out.

For MVPau...not sure if the contracts work off the top of my head, but it helps the Lakers get tough, with another athletic wing, and the Pacers stay competitive in an up-for-grabs division. Plus, the Pacers still keep their best player (Granger)

That's it. Every purple Kool-Aid induced proposal on here overvalues Pau and assumes Jerry West is the GM of the other team. FOH.

If there was anything better out there for a C w/ bad knees on the wrong side of 30 he would already be gone. Kahn wants him, but I don't even think he'd do DWill/ AK at this point. Maybe DWill/ Brandon Roy's gimpy knees, but I don't think the money works.

Honestly, I think the play of Pek this year has tempered any urge Kahn had to get Pau, and acquiring Pau (w/out giving up Pek) would hurt their ability to resign Pek this summer. Pek is younger, cheaper, and arguably better at this point. Minny isn't in unless the price is cheap, and if the Lakers don't want Williams as the centerpiece, it won't happen.

but it would be stupid for them to say yes.

not because pau sucks but because they have two decent prospects at the 4 and 5 that haven't had much opportunity to play together (jonas is back in what? 3 weeks?)

and because they aren't going to do shit anyway.

and because they avoiding paying andrea 25 million by paying pau 30 million is also stupid.

Their promising young point guard and their best trade chip for one year of overrated Lowry and the pleasure of being stuck in the ass with BARGNANI and his top 5 worst contract for 2 more seasons??

because you have to love both teague and lou but they should rarely be on the court together.

and then their next best guards are scoring points and combo guards too.

joe johnson isn't a black hole in atl any more but his shadow's still sitting over the roster until they can draft or trade for a decent wing.

Though I'm not sure if Lowry is really much of an upgrade at all.

Regardless it has nothing to do with them taking on Bargnani. The ONLY reason to take him on right now is if he bundled with valuable draft picks to make it worth it (the Raps traded their 1st this year for Lowry...oops).

The Hawks will have the most cap space in the league moving forward. This would be beyond asinine for them.

just to do something if this smith situation gets out of control.

but the best thing to do is just be patient on finding some wings and roll with lou as a 6th man.

Lakers get George + throw in, send Pau and a piece to the 3rd team, 3rd team sends Indiana compensation for George.

what could a 3rd team give Indiana to make them give him up?

There are probably less than 10 players that Indiana would take for George right now. Absolutely no reason to trade him short of an established superstar coming back.

He is their franchise player in the making. Granger could probably be had for the right price though.

I mean, we'll see. Right now he's still learning and has a ways to go.

But Indiana is MEGA high on him.

22 years old wing players with his skill set, defense and potential are very rare.
