There was a runningback for the Skins a few years back that would fit this description perfectly. He never really had a breakout season or stood out - just ran hard as fuck. I think it was Rock Cartwright, but I may have him mixed up with someone else. I just remember dude was always ran like it was his last carry ever.

Charlie Garner -- actually was a fine back, but was a little scatback posing as a feature back. Plus he was kinda a knucklhead ass nigga...perfect for the Raiders
Justin Vargas -- He was actually a huge underchiever at USC who timed well pre-draft and the Raiders liked him for that reason.
Wheatley -- HUGE underachiever with the Giants. Couldn't break a tackle from a middle school safety. Got with the Raiders, was tryna eat
Dickerson too...was such an enormous dick nobody wanted that nigga towards the end...he was trying real real hard at the end

Alstott wasn't even much of a bamma. He was strong and a very good athlete
Now, some great players like Adrian Petersen are DEFINITELY still bammas, even with the natural ability
But Ricky Williams? He was just a naturally gifted back

Adrian Peterson (the one who went to Oklahoma) definitely has some bamma to the way he runs, but if he ran like Ryan Matthews, he's still in the NFL. He's half as good, but he's still in the league. Same Earl Campbell and a lot of these guys.
But even though Marshawn Lynch has talent (1st round pick after all), he's probably out the league after his rookie contract if he ran like Beanie Wells, not the guy having a career year 7 years into the league. Marion Barber is 3rd string back at Minnesota if he doesn't run like a bamma. Toby Gerhart is a shitty receiving fullback at Stanford if he's not a bamma.
