Buyer's remorse.

I hope the new CBA leads to less of this. But I doubt it.

Gay is a good player, but I'd sooner have Andre Iguodala and he is not worth the max either.

And you will know MY JACKET IS GOLD when I lay my vengeance upon thee.

gay is not a good player. He is a chucker, and he provides no defense.

he is set to make 16 mil this year, 17 mil next year, and 19 mil after that

Iggy is more all around, and has a better IQ . I agree with the iggy part.

Put him on the right team and make him understand he's not a no. 1 option, Gay would be fine...

He thinks waaay too much of himself...But I'll tell you what...If the Bulls can get their hands on dude that would be interesting...

That contract though is a KILLER...

Nah...he's not...That much is clear...

>2 great bigs, solid pg

He needs to be on a team in which he can work outside in and instead of inside out...And that solid PG just became "solid" last season...Just saying...

>that's how you know he is wack.
>
>8-22, 18 point game Rudy..lol

When your best player (Z-Bo) just started commanding double teams a season and a half ago, and when Gay was getting doubled team A LOT when he became Memphis' go-to guy, then yeah...he's little more than a fake 1'st option...

But put him alongside a true franchise player that actually commands a double team (Rose) along with a defensive coaching genius (Thibs) that has the Bulls over 500 with Kirk H. starting? I'll sign up for that...

As I said in another post, it's not about Gay scoring only 18 or 19 points a game...It's how he scores them...

On the Bulls he can get the block more (there's no room on the post for him in Memphis with Zach and Big Gasol there) and post up SG's if he was with the Bulls...

The Bulls would not need him to drop 24 points a game...Just give them the ability to get off his shot without set plays, something the Bulls need from a perimeter desperately...

No Gay boner...just looking for a perimeter player that can get his own shot to pair with Rose and Deng...That's all...

And the fact that Memphis is not really asking for an expensive, long-term chip back is intriguing...The problem is the Bulls don't have much to give back (i. e. a huge expiring contract and cap friendly players)...

So it won't happen....

You could trade for Deng for Gay but you'd have to send another player PLUS a #1 to get it done. But I see how that would make sense for both teams....

However...your cap situation is essentially fucked because Memphis ain't taking Boozer Back and anybody who DOES decide to take Boozer is going to want to rape our war chest to do so.

>The Memphis Grizzlies and Phoenix Suns are engaged in trade talks centered on forward Rudy Gay, league sources told Yahoo! Sports.

Rudy Gay is averaging 17.8 points and 5.8 rebounds this season. (USA Today Sports)The Grizzlies have been shopping Gay to multiple teams, and found an interested trade partner with the Suns, sources said.

There's no framework of a possible deal in place, but the Grizzlies have expressed a strong desire that any package involving Gay include Suns forward Jared Dudley and future first-round draft picks, sources said.

In an effort to avoid paying luxury tax in the short term, as well as get off the $17.8 million and $19.3 million owed Gay in the 2013-14 and 2014-15 seasons, new Memphis management has aggressively shopped Gay. The Grizzlies have made proposals on Gay to several teams, front-office sources told Yahoo! Sports.

Gay will make $16.4 million this year.

The Suns have been mindful of their financial state under Phoenix owner Robert Sarver, and there are still doubts within the organization they will ultimately be able to absorb the remainder of Gay's contract.

The Suns own the Los Angeles Lakers' first round picks in 2013 and 2015.

gay is a poisonous offensive player (low FG%, bad shot selection, never goes to the line), a good perimeter defender and a decent three-point threat. playing that dude $17M a year is obscene. hollinger is lobbying for a gay/dudley deal with every ounce of his soul.

I've hurt my finger tips typing on Hornets boards to idiots who want us to trade for this guy. I consider his contract to be one of the 5 worst in the league based on return of investment. I called this when he signed that deal that it killed Memphis' legit title hopes.

And yet it still makes sense in a perverse way for the Suns. They whiffed on Gordon last summer and Sarver is such a joke he just wants a name player to suit up. Its only 2 more years on his deal, and really Sarver would rather be a middling team with a quasi-star than a full on tank-rebuild one.

If Memphis got Dudley and picks for Gay Hollinger deserves a fucking medal.

Ass

Like why are you so invested when it's obvious NO isn't going to be better than Memphis

You clowning PHX on this deal and they will be instantly better than your squad if this deal goes through.

Phx has Dudley and potentially 4 lottery picks to shop from a team that is currently better than you.

You should be trying to ship off Rivers and the oft injured Gordon for Gay

you get MAD AS FUCK over that suck ass team lol...

yall dumb asses are paying Rashard Lewis to get a ring in Miami lol...

next season you don't have ANYONE on the payroll...you can afford Rudy easily.

He only has 3 years of "bad" contract, but you still are under the illusion that people will want to come to NO for some reason.

after next season, LA and a host of other teams will have money free and be competing for free agents

My Bulls are straight homie, so forgive me for talking shit, but you guys fucking suck and will suck unless you make some sort of bold move.

of course I don't understand how basketball works and New Orleans certainly does, running off their coach who is grooming Kyrie and running off their best player, who MAY be facing Rashard Lewis in the finals this year...

>gay is a poisonous offensive player (low FG%, bad shot
>selection, never goes to the line), a good perimeter defender
>and a decent three-point threat. playing that dude $17M a year
>is obscene. hollinger is lobbying for a gay/dudley deal with
>every ounce of his soul.

One thing i was surprised at when looking at Gay's stats a week or two ago is that he gets to the line 4 times a game. Its by no means great or even good for a player with his athleticism and ability to get to the rim, but I thought it would be 3 something. It should be around 5 at least though.

better shooter from everywhere (especially 3pt) and a much higher TS%. doesn't give you the same rebounding or defensive length on the perimeter.

You're smoking crack.

If that is on the table, they better take that with the quickness. The object is to dump rudy's toxic contract, and if the suns are that foolish to take it, then the grizz better jump on that as soon as possible

It's not even up for debate. The focal point is to get rid of the contract. they are not looking to get equivalent talent. ...

Also, those 2 picks could be utilized to make future deals

You aren't trading just his on-court contribution, which is overrated anyway.

You are also trading his astoundingly bad contract, which completely obliterates cap space for further improvements. Keeping him restricts any chance for you guys to add meaningful pieces.

You should be PRAYING for Dudley and 2 picks, it would be a heist.

"the Warriors have been after Gay for some time, dating back to before the 2012 draft, when the Dubs were actively seeking a veteran wing. The Warriors have money to dump in the form of Andris Biedrins and other players. The Grizzlies are said to be pursuing a cash dump only, with draft picks as the only value in return."

they want picks or young players with no huge contracts.....this is a dump and bail, homie!

he's an outrageously destructive offensive presence. look at that offensive rating!

http://www.basketball-reference.com/teams/MEM/2013.html

it's like paying someone millions to ruin your team! pondexter is vastly better. any team that considers taking on gay's contract has no idea what they're doing (unless they have a plan to dramatically change his role) or is desperate to pay for a couple comically-expensive wins.

he'd be fine on a team like the Bucks
but he plays no defense on a team based on defense all while taking away shots from our more productive players. he literally adds nothing to the program.

If not maybe the tweet was saying that as bad as attendance is in Memphis, it was even worse last night in Sacramento where half the lower bowl was empty.

but i think mostly they're just fucked on salary. i mean i tried to work out some kind of kings trade and both zbo and gay make three time as much each as anyone on the kings.

you trade cuz because you don't know what he'll do in a year and you don't want to have to pay him eventually.....

trading for a guy you already HAVE to pay who prob will not respond well to sac, that doesn't make sense.

Rudy? Not so much. Zach is like how Shane was when he was here. He's heavily involved with the community here and is very well liked. I remember when they traded Shane, people were up in arms and he wasn't as much of a contributor, box score wise, like Zach. But I guess having Speights and a healthy DA makes Zach expendable *shrugs*. I wouldn't do it though.
