Reid is considered a shoo-in for Arizona because he's a proven winner that brings stability to an organization across the board. He's rumored to bring Chilly as offensive coordinator, Juan Castillo as offensive line coach, Pat Shurmur as an assistant and Tom Hecket as GM. If Horton stays that legitimizes the cardinals as a stable organization.

Lovie just won 10 games and took the Bears to the Super Bowl with Rex Grossman. He overachieved last year. Therefore, he's in demand.

Ken Whisenhunt took the cardinals to a Super Bowl and that's all that matters.

Mike McCoy survived games with a fullback playing out of position and successfully made use of backs most of us thought were done.

I'm clueless as to why Doug Marrone, Horton and Chip Kelly are considered for any position. That Oregon offense might not work in the big boy league. Horton's defense sucked this year. It was horrible.

Lovie is a football's guy, football guy. Everyone he has
coached speaks to his impact on their professional development.
He's HIGHLY regarded by players, not for being lax, but for
being respectful yet demanding. Guys like Urlacher, who are
always outspoken and critical of people (he barked at Gale
Sayers, for god's sakes) always had great things to say about
Lovie.

Cuse had become one of the worst programs in the nation at the time he took over, and he turned it around. .500 career record doesn't look great on the surface, but look at what he inherited and where the program is trending right now.

In a league where guys like Chan Gailey, Norv Turner, Dave Wannstedt, etc. have gotten multiple head coaching opportunities and failed at all of them, what's wrong with hiring a guy who had success as an NFL OC and college head coach?

I kind of see where you're coming from. Everyone needs a shot at some point. FWIW, he might turn out to be a great head coach.

However, the Browns need someone who can do more with less. Drew Brees ain't walking through that door anytime soon so IMHO we need another guy.

>Horton's defense sucked this year.
>It was horrible.

they were the second toughest defense to convert third downs against, were second in interceptions, 12th in yards and 17th in points allowed per game* -- which is amazing, considering they played with the most inept offense in the NFL.

*if you subtract the seven (!) touchdowns opposing defenses scored by interception and fumble returns, Arizona would've had the sixth-best scoring defense in the NFL.

Chip Kelly isn't in demand because of his offense, he's in demand because everybody that comes out to watch him coach and operate his team/program is blown away by what they see. He is meticulous, competitive as hell, and everything about Oregon football right now is made in his image. GMs are interested in him because they've visited Eugene, and been amazed at how practice is conducted, and how his players respond to him. (And obviously his belief in tempo as a weapon is starting to spread to other coaches in the pros, which plays a big part in the hype.) Kelly won't run the Oregon offense in the NFL unless it makes sense based on the personnel available. He's a football coach. He coached defense for years, and he only started using spread-option stuff at New Hampshire after they realized they weren't able to find fullbacks anymore.

>That Oregon offense might not
>work in the big boy league.

Can't stand this win a title or you're worthless BS.

Titles are the #1 thing, not making any excuse for anyone, but not having a title does not mean you have done nothing.

14 years with a good record, lots of division titles and playoff wins is a big deal, especially in today's NFL and especially for a team that does not have a winning tradition.

You are factually incorrect anyway.

Lovie took an overachieving squad to the NFC Championship game 2 years ago.

That's "not even close"?

Andy Reid had more playoff victories in his tenure with the Eagles than the Oilers and Texans have COMBINED in franchise history (Reid with 10, Oilers with 8 and Texans with 1). He went to FIVE title games and a Super Bowl. He is easily one of the ten most successful coaches in the NFL and, as you'd imagine, most of the others are not available.

And you will know MY JACKET IS GOLD when I lay my vengeance upon thee.

unless he already has someone in mind. That's what made the Reid/Johnson Dynamic work. He let Johnson run the defense while he ran the offense. I seem him returning to that style.
