"Eric Dickerson Appreciation Post"

In honor of Adrian Peterson NOT breaking his record I'd like to give a shoutout to the dude who's name doesn't come up often enough in the GOAT discussions. Maybe it's because his career flamed out somewhat early and contract disputes and injuries throughout his career hindered him somewhat but he's still right there with the all-time greats. As great a season as AD had it still wasn't quite as good as ED's. ED not only has the greatest rushing season ever, he also has 3 of the top 20 rushing seasons in NFL history. Dickerson is still the fastest player to 10,000 yards for a career in 91 games, nobody will probably ever touch that either. He also has the single game playoff rushing record.

Was only his 2nd year in the league when he set the record
Did not have ONE 50 yard run all season
Fumbled 14 times
Rams ran the ball 60+% of the time
Averaged 5.6 ypg
Week 3, only rushed for 49yds
Week 9, only rushed for 39yds
Ran for 100 yards 12x
Contract issues the very next season (1985)
Traded just two years later, during strike-season (1987)

was one of those athletes that was so talented he made it look easy. He was the perfect combination of size, speed, vision, and power. He just looked like he gliding out there when he was running the football.
