Looking back at the last two drafts with loads of big men, here are guys from the 2008 and 2010 NBA Draft:
2010:
Greg Monroe: Rookie- 9.4 and 7.5, 27 minutes per game Now- 15.1 and 8.8, 32 minutes per game
Derrick Favors: Rookie- 6.3 and 5.3, 20 minutes per game Now- 9.4 and 6.4, 22 minutes per game
Larry Sanders: Rookie- 4.3 and 3.0, 14 minutes per game Now- 8 and 8.4, 25 minutes per game
Kevin Seraphin: Rookie- 2.7 and 2.6, 10 minutes per game Now- 10.8 and 5.4, 24 minutes per game
2008:
Robin Lopez: Rookie: 3.2 and 2, 10 minutes per game Now: 12 and 5.7, 26 minutes per game
Serge Ibaka: Rookie: 6.3 and 5.4, 18 minutes per game Now: 14.2 and 8.5, 32 minutes per game
JJ Hickson: Rookie: 4 and 2.7, 11 minutes per game Now: 12.5 and 11, 29 minutes per game
Today, Thomas Robinson: Rookie: 4.5 and 4, 15 minutes per game
I'd say those numbers are relatively comparable, and it's way too early to assume that T-Rob will bust because of his first 30 games, obviously. I guess you could still call some of those dudes busts, or maybe not due to relatively lower draft position, but team changes or simple increases in minutes made huge impacts on these guys' stats.
Obviously there are players like Demarcus Cousins, Brook Lopez, and Kevin Love who made big impacts right away who are outliers from this pattern... but even they all got much better than their rookie seasons. Kevin Love "only" did 11 and 9 his first season.
