Kirk, dem white boys in general, are basura but there will be plenty of free agents to float around.

Taj is still coming off the bench, Basa...And let's be real...It's obvious that the kid flourished by playing next to Asik...It's no coincidence that once dude left Taj struggled...

But "sorry"?...Again, you are the master of hyperbole...lol

He's doing just about as well as you would think a bench player is supposed to do...Unfortunately, Taj is not having the same impact as last season...And that has A LOT to do with the fact that the second unit he played with is no longer there...

Not everything is a Duke agenda, homie...I've been a Bulls fan since since the Dave Corzine days....I'm Bulls all day...And an NBA fan...

Hit me when the Final Four hits...That's the only time u will see me engaging in college related b-ball talk...I'm worried about this Bulls squad...Not who went to Duke, Kentucky, Memphis, ect....

Basa...when will you realize? Nobody was worried about Boozer's basketball skills...You know what fans were worried about? Whether or not he had enough lift in his legs to make a simple lay-up or dunk...Or the ball going between his legs for yet another turnover...Or dude getting torched on D...

Boozer is doing what Boozer did in Utah...And what he did a lot during his first year with the Bulls...He was an All-star, Basa...I'm not shocked because this is what I expect from an All-Star...Dude was/is a star...

You are trying to compare an all-star with a dude that has been coming off the bench all of his career...The truth is, Bulls fans overrated Taj...

I believe his success was connected to the fact that he was playing with a beast of a bench...It's easy to see that he's not ready to be the man...

I'm glad Boozer is killing it...He's a good dude...Always have been...

But again, even if Boozer was struggling he would be the last player to point a finger at...

GOAT of his era......long live Prince.....God is alive....

Nah I never bought taj being better than Booz
The 7 and 5 is mostly from coming off the bench

But boozer is much more seasoned in the post
And is a better rebounder
He better cats just got mad at that first playoff series
When he was hurt and never got over it

But fuck it
Booz been ballin and I'm gonna talk about it

Omer ain't super balling but he playing better than Taj (given the PT). If dude don't start putting up better games over this season, I'm gonna get worried cuz we all know Booz prolly getting amnestied cuz JR is a cheap bastard.

The reason why most folks ain't talking about it Basa is because he's coming off the bench...

To me, it's not about his rebounds its about his shooting percentage...And yeah, I agree with your point on that aspect...43 percent whether starting or coming off the bench just won't cut it for a big man...

Omer is averaging a double double (10 and 12)...And he's saved a few games for Houston because of his defense...I'd say he's super balling...Notice, there's no talk of dude being overpaid now...

And you are right JR is cheap as fuck....

He pulled down about 5 off the bench last season and the Bulls starters are rebounding like crazy. Booz and Noah are around 10 boards a game each and Deng is around 8.

27 boards a game out of 3 players is great!

Taj is doing just fine given his minutes and contribution.

He just needs to work on his shot, and given our PG woes I can understand the second unit not getting the same looks they got last season.

We good

Nate need to start though

No...we are not "good"...

And no...Nate doesn't need to start...You take him off that bench and the Bulls would REALLY flatline....We would go from a 7th or 8th seed to not even making the playoffs...

Taj is basically a less productive version of Kenny Thomas on the Sixers.

You don't pay dime-a-dozen dudes who don't have a single elite skill or facet 9 million a year & have it work out for you.

Yep...I think they figured that since Noah was already there, there was no need to pay the back up center that much loot (a mistake in hindsight)...

People were ready to get the pitchforks ready for Boozer after the last playoffs...So the Bulls panicked and re-signed Taj for a pretty high amount...

It's a roll of the dice and the Bulls crapped out...But really, they fucked up by switching out the entire bench beyond Taj...

Omer = 11.2 pts 13.1 boards 1.4 ast 1.4 blk
Taj = 11.8 pts 7.8 boards 1.3 ast and 2.7 blk

Taj is gonna make 7mill next season and 8 the two seasons after that...

I could only guess that he is poised to play a bigger role in the Bulls plans after this season and considering Asik will make 5 next year and 14 the year after...we good.

two seasons from now, if Taj doesn't improve, then we can discuss it, but its not like Omer would have the same minutes here that he is getting in Houston, nor would paying him a balloon salary be justified.

Taj is about to get Thaddeus Young Money and if he puts up the 13 and 7 that Thad does with increased pay, then I am cool with that.

Too much stat jacking for my taste...Sometimes your eyes tell you everything you need to know...Beyond Asik averaging a double/double I can actually "see" that he is better/more impactful than Taj...I can see that we gave the wrong dude the money...I now eat my words about Houston overpaying for Asik...

I get why Taj got his money...The Boozer hate was at its most high...And he plays PF and at times can slip over at C, a factor, as others have pointed out, gave the Bulls some major flexibility...The dude simply played his ass off in HUGE spots...

But what's flexibility when you can't even put the ball in the basket on a consistent bases?

I'm willing to see what Taj can do with more minutes...But the steady play of Asik has been one of the biggest stories of this year...

like, this guy is not getting *that* much better. and he's been pretty average this year.

he needs to be able to knock down a jumper to contribute as a starter next to Noah. unfortunately he has failed to knock down jumpers with any consistency so far.

Point is, it's going to be hard to amnesty Boozer and his ability to hit open jumpers and dominate Ersan Ilyasova if Taj continues to be ineffective on offense. And Booz gonna need to be amnestied if we're looking to bring in a respectable two guard this offseason.

In other words, we may be in a predicament (again).

There are options out there

and truth be told, we are better off with Taj than Asik for one reason alone...

flexibility

We already deal with Noah not being an offensive force, so having a backup C that can put the ball in the fucking hoop is great considering our backup PF is defensive minded.

We amnesty Boozer and get Al Jefferson to run the 4 next to Noah, and we get THAT much better on the interior and Taj is off the bench at the 3 or 4 trying to get jumpers to fall while Jefferson could slide over to C and spell Noah.

There are a variety of options and Boozer isn't the only PF out there than can score and board.

I appreciate him doing well, and maybe we can trade him instead of Amnesty considering other teams need a PF and have young talent we can rape.

My hope is that we can find a suitor for Boozer by All Star Break, send him back to Utah for Jefferson or Milsap...Utah can't afford both them dudes and might lose both to FA

then we can Amnesty Deng and bring in Iggy or Josh Smith and lock down D for the next 6-7 years

The only way we amnesty Boozer now is if we know we have one of those guys in the bag....Because I don't think Taj is going to be coming off the bench getting that kind of money next year...

The Jazz ain't letting Milsap walk...Al is most likely to leave....

But I'm hoping D'antino continues to misuse his big men in Laker land...I would love to see D Howard in a Bulls uniform...

Of course, the reality is our cheap ass owner will probably not make any those moves...lol

Second, Booz is balling out because he wants to go to a good team next year.

Third: Both of these conditions should tell you how despicable boozer has been during his time in Chicago, he plays great only if he wants more money or if he is in the spotlight.

Thats it, Taj is not going to get any better and we will be in the same predicament soon.

Asik is playing good I do miss him
But Nate is 100x better than jl3

Korver was a huge disappointment for us
I'm glad he is hitting shots here in the A tho
But he was for the most part s bust for us

And Kirk is bout even with cj Watson
Ill give an edge to cj cause he actually can hit shots

Other than that
I'm not convinced we lost THAT much

Ill say brewer and aseik def tho
But neither one of them really contributed on O

and O was our biggest problem last year
Someone other than d rose had to create shots
ESP off the bench

And Nate will def help that out
We still are one to two pieces away
But it's not like we are a lotto team

I'm not mad at this squad anymore

What did we lose?

Our bench, defensive stability, versatility at a myriad of positions....maybe?

Versatility....CJ's ability to play both point and SG on offense

Brewer...ability to play both SG and SF both on O and D....

Korver....even at his most off and on shooting wise, his height added an extra dimension...And again...I liked the fact that he could play two different positions with positive results...

Listen...Bottom line is we are missing a lot...This 2.0 bench is mediocre at best...Asik's departure clearly is huge...And it's even had a profound affect on Taj's play (Can it be that he took a lot of heat off of Taj when he was on the team?)...I would take CJ over injury prone Captain Kirk AT THIS POINT IN HIS CAREER in a heartbeat...

When your best player off the bench is Nate Robinson (the kid has always had a lot of heart, but he should be a luxury, not a player you depend on in BIG spots) you have a problem...

A non factor on offense

Just being able to play multiple positions is fine
But you gotta create some sort of mismatch
Which neither did

They allowed teams to leave them open and crash down
On rose drives or Booz post ups

>A non factor on offense

Korver was a problem for opposing defenses though in terms of his shooting height...A potent 3 point shooter that's close to 6'8...Even on his shaky days he's a better option at what we have as our "sharpshooter" now...

As for Brewer, dude made offensive plays when he had to...he got to the hole when he had to...He shot a clutch 3 when he had to...i'm not much for stat jacking...Watching the actual games, though, I can tell he's better that the SG/SF options we have coming off the bench right now...

>Just being able to play multiple positions is fine
>But you gotta create some sort of mismatch
>Which neither did
>
>They allowed teams to leave them open and crash down
>On rose drives or Booz post ups

We can go back and forth on this all day...But I told you early on that this bench was going to be a huge problem for this team...

JR's cheap ass made his motives known...He runs the team like we are OKC...No, we are not just two players away...We have ancient players at key positions (Hamilton and Kirk); we have a shaky bench...And now we have a future issue on whether or not Taj can live up to the hype of last season...

Sometimes it's not about individual greatness...It's about chemistry...And the Bulls have seemingly fucked that up with their off season moves...

Sure we will be a mediocre/above average team...But being 5 games over .500 is not what I want as a fan...

asik is the biggest loss, followed by korver and brewer. korver was sorry i'll give you that but defenses HAD to game-plan for him. brewer was all hustle. cj was trash but at least he wasn't a midget.

defensively, the 2nd unit had literally ZERO drop-off from the 1st. In fact, the 2nd unit was arguably BETTER defensively.

now? we have one of the worst defensive benches in the league and virtually NO offense due to nate canceling out his offense on the defensive end.

don't underestimate the power of injury. w/ thibs running deng and noah into the ground every night, one of these niggas is bound to go down. plus, boozer is one banana peel away from chipping his pinky knuckle. point being, we're one/two injuries away from full-on tank status.

noah, rose, and maybe deng?

yes boozer should have gotten that board, or at least tried to save the ball. but he was also one of our best offensive players in the first half and got us the lead.

you can blame thibs for playing all the starters over 35 minutes, refusing to use the bench, drawing up a bad play for the last shot, and allowing a team to come back from twenty seven points. this was reminiscent of the kings game. the coach should be the first one blamed.

or you can blame management for going from one of the best benches in the league to one of the worst, signing a 6'9 27 year old average backup PF (who's gotten worse every year i might add) to a huge extension instead of a 26 year old 7'0 defensive stopper, and repeatedly proving their inability to sign all-star players and win championships without cheese eyes.

or you can blame all-star luol deng for having mediocre games where he simply disappears and being unable to create his own shot.

or you can blame kirk hinrich for having the worst FG, 3PT, FT, and PPG of his entire career this year. but really you should blame management again for giving up one of the league's best 3pt shooters for a washed up backup pointguard, sending us 3rd in 3pt FG% last year to 29th this year.

or you can blame boozer for one play...

the point is our shitlist is deep. i wish i could get excited about a 'pseudo-tank' but i don't see anyone in the draft next year helping us win a championship.

on top of that the bulls are boring as hell to watch. yes, i'm mad. i want rose back dammit.

He needs to put Reinsdorf and his bloated bank account in check.

Fucker needs to fall back on his baseball team a bit.

This team needs to make bold moves over the next two years. Can't be hindered by the historically cheap (and uninterested) Reinsdorf.

you know, the five free agents we signed in the offseason. i know they're not ideal but if you can't go to your bench when you're up 26 then of course your starters will get gassed and play lackadaisically.

Nate should've played more considered he can score and has shown his ability to run the offense. i'm not saying end the game with him but let him run the second unit. he could've won the matchup against doron lamb.

and i get not playing Radmon and Teague but Nazr and Marco are serviceable given the right situation (up by 26). thibs agrees with you and is scared to go to the bench but he refused to make adjustments as the bucks fought back and his players got tired. it's too early in the season to give up on the bench, and too costly for the starters.

luol played over 47 minutes! how can you expect him not to just stand in the corner at the end of the game when he's had one minute of rest.

i agree, our bench sucks. but thibs needs to figure out a way to play them and give the starters a break.

There's a reason why our starters played so many minutes...As you've noted this bench ain't that good...Thibs was able to make miracles last year because he had some diverse players off the bench..Players that at times could sub for big men, point guards and SG's...hell, even the PF outplayed our starter at times last season...

The funny part is I hear all the talk about Nate Rob. starting...I can only imagine how much worst this bench would be with Captain Kirk coming off the bench...

They just need to sit Thibs down and let him know this is a tank season...Tank it out, get some picks and keep it moving...And Derrick needs to sit down for the entire season...

But that's another post...

Who exactly in this draft is worth tanking for ??
Who exactly is going to help like that?

I don't see anyone
Now if it was this past draft
Yeah it was plenty of solid wing/ 2 guards that could have
Contributed (rivers,lamb,pjIII, etc.)

But I am not sure who is worth tanking for right now

But...normally, I'd be pissed.

Right now I'm all smiles at every close loss.

The team needs to still make an effort to keep the fans engaged and to have that "if derrick were playing..." cued in their head.

But they need to lose and miss the playoffs...seriously.

Jerry's not gonna dish out dough to help. They've already fucked up the bench and the only trade assets we have are Noah and Deng. Not sure how much we'd get back for both of them even but I know we need at least ONE of them.

So...lose. Get a lottery pick (there will be some good options in the top 14, trust me...even with them saying it is a weak draft, they said the same shit about the 2010 draft and that draft is looking surprisingly deep). And who knows...maybe lightening strikes twice and we end up top 3 with a shot at Nerlens.

But yeah...I'm not optimistic otherwise.

Ersan fucking Ilyasova should not get a rebound from Carlos Boozer when Carlos Boozer has position. Never should this happen.

More to the point, Carlos gets paid to hit open jumpers, outmuscle Euro's, snag gimme rebounds, and yell a bunch of dumb shit. When one of those things fails to happen
when it absolutely needs to happen, Ima talk about it. This is what we can expect from Boozer at this point. The assesment is fair and true hilarously sad all at the same time.

I can't clown about anything else because I expect so little.

now, this man obviously has no agenda regarding his team other than WINNING.

get at booz when he sucks...i will say not one word

but be an asshat and call him a bum because "he ain't get that loose ball" or "he ain't box out when we was down 3 with a minute to play" AFTER he done led the team in scoring and rebounding for that specific game you crying about...oh, you gots to get fried.

this common sense and i don't know why y'all been beefin wit me for 3 years about this.

We won't win a title this year
But we got my main man baby dirk coming next yr possibly
Nate giving is some shot creation

boozer giving us 14 and 10
And joe becoming a competent scorer
Deng being deng (17-5)

I'm kinda sad we lost brewer tho
Even though he sucked on O he was dependable
On D

I'm not mad we can be ok

Still not convinced...Bench has to be MUCH better and more importantly, we need a perimeter player to take major pressure off of Rose's knee...

Mayo would have been great...Maybe we can go after Rudy Gay next season...That's the kind of player we need to add...Having Rose have to be Mr. Do or Die every night is the reason he got injured in the first place...Maybe that gets us to the 2nd round...But a ring? Nah...

He will probably yield a Max deal
We have to get a second/ third tier scorer

I'm thinking more along the lines of a j Crawford
Or Lou willz even tho I doubt they will be avail

Nick young would have been perfect

We really just need a gun
With a dependable 3 ball

respect is due.

seems like him and Noah thrive off each other. both guys have looked really good over the last week or so.

if Booz somehow keeps this up there is no way we can amnesty him considering Taj's lack of improvement, and I think that means we are over the cap next year and/or can't spend on a two guard (unless someone pick him up in a trade, which is doubtful).

bulls put themselves in a weird position.

Can't have it both ways Basa......There's a reason why the kid was "overpaid"...

Shit happens...U roll the dice on a young kid who in the past has shown himself to be one of the better bench players in the league; someone who finished a lot of games when Boozer was struggling....And when paired with the starters from last season he thrived...But this is not the same team...And I'm still convinced that Asik and the rest of that bench played a big role in Gibson's success...The kid simply needs to be more consistent...

As for Boozer, he is doing what we all expected him to do...Anyone hating on dude or blaming him for the Bulls being mediocre this season are just on some hate shit...We all know that...No need to entertain them, homie...

But if you are expecting heads to throw a parade for Boozer because of his good, steady play, slow down...We are talking about a guy that was once a top 4 PF....A 20/10 dude that the Bulls paid like a 20/10 All-star...

Boozer is doing what Boozer should be doing...I'm just glad dude is healthy and having fun out there...

GOAT of his era......long live Prince.....God is alive....

Now? I can honestly say dude makes me feel confident about getting out the first round. I still think we're going to be a 4/5 team (given we still lose games to Milwaukee and Phoenix) without Rose. But the fact that we're even there has a lot to do with Boozer.

And I hope Thibs is paying attention that he doesn't NEED Rose to score 25 a night to win games.

If Rose is healthy an gives us 15-17ppg/8-9apg/3-4rpg/1spg for 30 games or so, I'd have a little confidence going into the post season that we could make a deep run.

A case can be made for him being the best PF in the East this year

So much for tanking...now it's up to Rose to adjust his game to what's happening with the rest of the team

Fuck y'all though (happy for Nate though)

Dude is balling....

He has to get his props as an All-Star...

If he can keep this up in the playoffs, that will help the Bulls immensely...Truth be told, Boozer's off and on playoff history and our shaky bench is the reason why I thought the Bulls would be a 1st round out...And why I didn't want Rose to come back this season...

We will see...

When props r due....they are due...If he does this in the 'Offs, then his redemption tour will be epic...
----

By K.C. Johnson, Chicago Tribune reporter

10:10 a.m. CST, January 17, 2013

BOSTON -- Shortly after the Chicago Bulls' disappointing New Year's Eve loss to the Charlotte Bobcats at home, Carlos Boozer shared a resolution to be more efficient offensively.

So far, so good.

Boozer continued his dominant January in Wednesday's overtime victory over the Toronto Raptors, producing his most points as a Bull and posting his Eastern Conference-leading 21st double-double. Boozer, who had 36 points and 12 rebounds, is now averaging 24 points and 10.8 rebounds on 55.9 percent shooting in eight games this month.

"I'm just hooping and trying to win," Boozer said. "We had a tough end to 2012 and we all want to play much better in 2013. So far we are doing pretty well in January."

Indeed, the Bulls are 6-2 on the month, although their two losses are disappointing home defeats to the Milwaukee Bucks and Phoenix Suns. They do have road victories over the Miami Heat and New York Knicks, games in which Boozer averaged 22 points and nine rebounds.

"There are tapes of what he’s done," coach Tom Thibodeau said when asked if this is Boozer's most dominant stretch as a Bull. "And he’s done it for us too. He can score in a lot of different ways. He’s in a really good rhythm. I think his teammates are really searching him out."

Indeed, the Bulls are establishing Thibodeau's preferred offensive philosophy of playing inside-out, establishing Boozer inside early. With his more aggressive post moves, Boozer isn't always settling for fallaway jumpers. And his passing ability makes double-teaming him foolish.

"Carlos is playing at a real high level," Joakim Noah said. "We've got to keep searching him out. He has been dominant for awhile, playing with a lot of confidence. We've just got to keep getting him the ball."

Boozer likes talking about himself about as much as Thibodeau likes skipping steps. But his teammates are talking about his game for him. That's how dominant his month has been.

GOAT of his era......long live Prince.....God is alive....

Boozer was playing like shit for february and most of march. he's been great in january and late march/april though. let's hope he plays like he did tonight during the playoffs. we need to be able to beat all of our opponents on the boards.

believe it or not people are still saying we should amnesty him this summer. expectations were probably too high for him coming in and yes he can be a liability on defense. but he's a good team leader and if he can play the way he's played in parts of this season then he should be our starting PF for the next couple of years.

I think he's following Reggie's advice. I wonder how bad he's going to itch to come back if we do get out of the first round, though (which I feel we will if we can grab that fifth).

In response to Reply # 130

And I don't want to slight Jimmy Buckets either cuz he's come along nicely so having Hendo be 6th man putting up 15-20 a night might not be that bad either since he was on a lotto team and would now have to do a 'job' for a contending team he'd be humble enough to do what's asked.

Having both means we could rest Lu more often too (thibs running dude into the ground).

McBob is cool but he'd be like 5th on my list. I'd rather try and get a guy like JJ Hickson, Mo Speights, Matt Barnes or Milsap (tho he's likely a long shot).

I'd love:
Rose/Kirk
Hendo/Jimmy Buckets
Deng/Barnes
Booz/Milsap
Noah/Taj

I think we could win a title with that team. But we'd have to spend.

Hendo would cost like 7-8 mil per, Barnes about 5-7 per and Milsap about 8-9 per. JR too cheap to get them all but I think we'd need at least 2 of them.

i like nate but with a healthy rose, he's redundant and entirely unnecessary.

teague has little to no trade value. he barely played this yr.

In response to Reply # 136

doubt he'll get many offers from other teams. although he can score (sporadically) he makes so many dumb plays, is too small to play defense, and can be a coach's nightmare.

however, as this season has shown, the bulls need an offensive sparkplug who can create his own shot. yes derrick will be doing most of that when he returns but he can't play all game and when defenses focus on him we need somebody else who can score.

kirk's great at running the offense and is a good defensive player. we should keep him and try to play rose off the ball with him. a rose, kirk, nate PG rotation will work pretty well.

i do think jimmy can be that 2nd go to scorer in the next couple of years. the comparison to taj is inaccurate. taj came in at 24 and frankly showed more regression in his game each year. in his second year, jimmy is only 23 and has improved a lot from last year. he's already a great defender and if he can add a 3pt shot to his arsenal, he might be the 2nd option we've been looking for. i'd rather keep him than hendo at this point. cheaper, younger, and more of an upside.

i mainly replied because i want to check out my new avatar.

you guys keep saying that, over and over.

the nba has rules. there's a salary cap. the bulls have exceeded it.
when you're over the cap, you can't just sign free agents outright.
you need cap space to do that.

you can use your exceptions. mid-level, mini mid-level, biannual (bulls actually have used these btw, on rip, kirk and belinelli)

you can sign vet-minimum guys. nate, mohammed, radmanovic, etc.

that's pretty much it. these transactions you're suggesting are literally not possible.

btw:

>Hendo would cost like 7-8 mil per, Barnes about 5-7 per and
>Milsap about 8-9 per. JR too cheap to get them all but I
>think we'd need at least 2 of them.

why on earth would you give gerald henderson (who i do like) $8M to play the 2 when you already have butler (a better, younger player) and belinelli under contract for $3M combined?

why in god's name would you spend $9M on another power forward when you already have $23M committed to that position next yr btwn boozer and gibson?

and why in the blue fuck would you pay matt barnes (a 33 yr old currently making the $850K vet minimum) 7 million dollars a year?!

good lord, man. i'm glad you're not the GM.

i like hendo a lot. him being better than butler is certainly arguable. him being "$8M vs $1M and change" better is not. and if you disagree, you're overrating henderson.

per 36 minutes:
hendo - 18.0 pts on 14.3 fga, 4.3 reb, 2.9 ast, 1.2 stl, 0.6 blk, 1.8 to, .537 ts%, 16.9 per, 109 off rtg, 113 def rtg, .081 ws/48
jimmy - 11.8 pts on 8.8 fga, 5.5 reb, 1.9 ast, 1.3 stl, 0.5 blk, 1.1 to, .560 ts%, 14.8 per, 119 off rtg, 104 def rtg, .152 ws/48

virtually identical shooting percentages (.450/.337/.823 for hendo vs .457/.322/.817 for jimmy)

you could argue either way. doesn't really matter which you prefer. it's beside the point. my intention wasn't to slight henderson. tho i knew you'd take it that way even as i was typing it. butler's still on a rookie deal and under the team's control for the next 2 yrs @ a little over $1M per. i wouldn't pay henderson $8M a season for similar, even if arguably slightly better, production. not really a smart way for the team to spend their money.

>you guys keep saying that, over and over.

Because it's TRUE. He gutted the best bench in the league for 2yrs running to save a lil over half a mil.

>the nba has rules. there's a salary cap. the bulls have
>exceeded it.
>when you're over the cap, you can't just sign free agents
>outright.
>you need cap space to do that.

Yes, the NBA has rules and there are ways to make those rules work to get guys you want. If ATL can move Joe Johnson, anything is possible. I KNOW we can't get all of those guys without making some sort of move to free up cap space. I never said we could get them. I said we needed 2 of them to be what I think we could be.

>you can use your exceptions. mid-level, mini mid-level,
>biannual (bulls actually have used these btw, on rip, kirk and

>you can sign vet-minimum guys. nate, mohammed, radmanovic,

^^^Currently, Bulls are 3 mil over the cap. Most of those smaller moves you mentioned are off the books this summer (rad, nazr, nate, bellynelly) Rip and Kirk will be in the final yr of their deals so their good trade commodities.

Hendo's agent gonna shoot for that 5-8 mil a yr range and he's gonna do it because of this:

Name/ppg/apg/rpg/PER
Hendo 15.4/2.5/3.7/16.96
Mayo 15.8/4.4/3.6/14.51
Klay 16.2/2.2/3.8/12.43
JJ 16.3/3.6/3.0/13.89
Monta 19.3/6.0/3.8/16.16

With the caveat that playing on a better team, he'd have a bigger impact. Let's say MJ don't want to pay him but Hendo's interested in the Bulls. We could offer up Rip's expiring 5 mil and negotiate 6.5 for 3-4 seasons for Hendo on a sign and trade. 1 down, 2 to go.

>btw:
>
>>Hendo would cost like 7-8 mil per, Barnes about 5-7 per and
>>Milsap about 8-9 per. JR too cheap to get them all but I

>why on earth would you give gerald henderson (who i do like)
>$8M to play the 2 when you already have butler (a better,
>younger player) and belinelli under contract for $3M
>combined?

1) Belly is a FA
2) Hendo is gonna net that on the market based on what I just put up top but might be talked down given we are a contender.
3) And Hendo+Butler is better than Butler+Belinelli+Rip. Mind you we paid 7mil a yr for Rip+Belly this yr...I'd gladly trade Hendo for those 2.
4) Butler's not better...yet and DEFINITELY is not a better scorer. Maybe a better rebounder and defender but Hendo is a good defender too who'd shine under thibs.

>why in god's name would you spend $9M on another power forward
>when you already have $23M committed to that position next yr
>btwn boozer and gibson?

This is a question of Milsap vs Taj. OR Milsap vs Booz. If I can drop boozers 15mil and get milsap for a lil over half that, not sure I don't do it. Milsap is younger and him+Taj doesn't lose us much from Booz. Having all 3 is a pipedream but I liked how it looked.

>and why in the blue fuck would you pay matt barnes (a 33 yr
>old currently making the $850K vet minimum) 7 million dollars
>a year?!

I might have overpriced Matt (though he could command that given his numbers - 10.3/1.5/4.5/15.40) but I'd still like to get him. If we could talk him down to 3 mil a yr for 2 seasons, I'd do it (which is possible given all the guys coming off the books this summer total about 3 mil).

>good lord, man. i'm glad you're not the GM.
Yet, I just effectively got all 3 while only losing Rip, Belli and Booz or Taj. Our only issue would be backup C (which in my pipedream, Taj could play cuz we could keep boozer) but we'd fill out the roster with min guys anyway (like Nazr).

Booz is the ONLY contract that doesn't fit. And even still, if we kept him, we could get Hendo and Barnes, which I think would be enough for us to win it all.

Rose/Kirk
Butler/Hendo
Deng/Barnes
Booz/Taj
Noah/Taj/Vet Min guy

That team is grittier on D, still has a decent amount of outside shooting, has edge (noah/barnes), is better offensively than we are now and doesn't have to rely on Rose to make everything happen.
