"Build the best under-25 NBA team you can and let's talk it out...."

1. They have to be in the L...prospects don't count.

2. Duplicate players are fine...Identical teams....NO!

3. Picks are based on potential AND current production

4. Please be ready to explain how your team is best, with respect to team chemistry and skillsets.

Mine:

PG: C'mon now...

SG: Professor James Harden, Af-Am Studies

SF: KD

PF: Love

C: Greg Monroe

^^^^^ I can't see another team being as good...at all.

I also think I take Paul George over Harden. Harden's a better scorer, but I don't need that for the team. Durant and Rose are enough scoring. George is a better defensive stopper.

Rose
George
Durant
Love
Monroe

yep. that's my team. still can't decide on Blake vs. Love in terms of team make-up. Let's just say that I'll put Blake/Harden as my 6th and 7th man for sure.

feed monroe in the post, move Love to the 3 point line and Monroe either scores easily because the other team's post defender just got sucked out to the 3 point line or feeds Love if his defender doesn't follow him to the 3 point line. i love that shit.

I don't need K-Love's superior jump shooting to Griff's, considering Kyrie, Harden, and Durant are probably the best shooters at their positions, and Monroe's jumper ain't broke itself-- I'll take the superior athletic prospect going forward.

Considered Lopez, but the injuries scare me.

I can't go against the rest of your picks. They're too good.

PG- Rose
SG- Westbrook
SF- Durant
PF- Love
C- Bynum

With Rose at PG and Westbrook at SG, there is no way these guys aren't getting to the rack and kicking it out to Durant or Love.

Bynum would have the easiest job in the world because you can't double him with Love out at the high post or by the 3pt line and Durant roaming the perimeter and slashing low post.

It would be layup city, and running the pick and roll with Bynum or Love or the Pick and Pop with Love and Durant...

Nah...I would put Russy at the 2 way before Rose...He has longer arms (think Wade), is more physical and is more of a shoot first player...

Stacking Ky, Rose, and Durant all on the same team... I realize it's a problem that you take and just fucking deal with when you get there, but I worry about a team where three guys on the outside want the ball in their hands to create. So I make Durant my main scorer, Ky my main creator, and Harden to keep Ds on the perimeter honest-- bigger than Rose and better at the 3.

I'd rather just put Ky OR Rose as my 1.

But how do you say no to the MVP?

Fuck. It's a tough call. Just put Rose as the most insane Sixth Man of the Year and have him sub in for Ky and Harden (and Durant, really, since Harden could switch over to the 3).

the problem with Rose and Russ at PG is that what they excel at won't be as needed on a team full of guys who can get 25+

All my players can knock down open Js and pass the ball.

I will say if Rondo was 25...yeah, I'd prolly take him over young 'Rie...real talk. Give Rondo all them weapons and let him play his floor games...3-Ds all day.

In response to Reply # 16

it would be like MJ vs Ron Harper (Cleveland)

Both are really good

One is CLEARLY better

One has a team that sucks so when the one that is CLEARLY better wins and wins their head to head, it won't seem fair

The Clippers are idiots, they should have drafted Kyrie to run with Gordon and Blake and Jordan and they would have been....NASTY

but oh well

Basa...

Rose can pass the ball...He can drop 11 assists....He can penetrate and kick out...And he can play the pick and roll with players who actually "roll" to the basket...

Your comment makes much more sense when it comes to Russy...Because dude is dropping 30 plus points and only dropping 4 assists in some games...And then he'll turn the ball over 4 times...

Apples and oranges, homie....

GOAT of his era......long live Prince.....God is alive....

20. "Monroe over Bynum?"
In response to Reply # 0

My 13 man roster

C: Bynum
PF: Love
SF: Durant
SG: Eric Gordon
PG: Kyrie

Second Unit
C: Al Horford*
PF: Blake
SF: George
SG: Harden
PG: Rose (I think right now he's better but I like Kyrie better with that top unit.)

End of Bench
Russy, Gay*, Monroe

*Gay and Horford are 25 so if it is under 25, I put Monroe in second unit and Brook Lopez on the pine. Replace Rudy with 'Reke at SF.

1. Give the ball to KD and get out of his way.

2. Give the ball to Big Cuz in the post.

3. Run pick and roll with Big Cuz.

4. Run pick and pop with Big Cuz.

5. Have John drive then either kick it out to KD or PG.

But I also plan on getting a lot of transition points with our speed, and defense.

We'll be tough to score on in the half court though.

I'd probably switch out Bismack for the best young PF in the game in a few years Anthony Davis though. He wasn't eligible first go round.

And with KD and any of the PG options, you want an off-the-ball 2 guard like Harden, EG, George over Turner.

PG - Steph Curry, 24 - for him to have the ball in his hands as much as he does, he don't have too many TOs. pick-n-roll with Ibaka? deadly. defensive liability tho'. but he got help in the paint with Ibaka and Hibbert.

SG - Nicolas Batum, 23 -- he playin' out of position. he really a SF. but at SG, he's long and could be a defensive nightmare for opponents. he can guard a PG, SG or SF. capable ball handler. can get to the rim. can hit a open shot. not quite the playmaker, but doesn't need to the ball to feel engaged.

SF - Kevin Durant, 23 -- you all ready know.

PF - Serge Ibaka, 22 -- he has a chance to better than Blake and Love. he only 22. very active shot blocker, rebounder. sometimes can get out of position, but normally plays under control. can hit an open 15-footer. pick-n-roll with Steph Curry would result in EASY buckets for either of 'em.

C - Roy Hibbert, 25 -- another shot blocker to patrol the paint. not as athletic as Ibaka. not quite the rebounder you'd want from your big either, but...he's more than capable of grabbin' a few boards. effective scorer in the paint. good passer from the block too; could come in handy when cutters like Durant or Batum go thru the lane.

this team has guys who can hit open shots (i.e. Curry and Durant) which will create space on the floor for the slashers (i.e. Batum and Durant). the bigs are skilled enough offensively to score, but not quite strong enough to command a double team. however, Hibbert is big enough to hold his position in the paint to get easy buckets which might cause the help from the weak side to slide on occasion. if he sees it, he can pass to the open man who has a high chance of knockin' down an open shot.

if Steph can keep the opposing PG in front of him, really hard to beat this team. if not, then switch him to guard the SG and use Batum for stretches to disrupt the opponents offensive. PGs who over penetrate would have to contend with two shot blockers in the paint. kickin' out could be a problem too b'cuz the wings are long and quick guys that like to play the passing lanes. they only concern would be Ibaka's over aggressiveness to commit to the ball and either block the shot or take a charge.

still, this a pretty tough team to beat.

65. "I like your line up but with Harden, you don't NEED 'Rie"
In response to Reply # 0

>PG: Rose - Speed, decent from 3, willing passer, tons of pressure on opposing teams D and has developed into a decent defender and CLUTCH

>SG: Harden - Can play point when needed cuz he's a good passer, deceptively athletic, good finisher, good shooter, decent rebounder

>SF: KD - Buckets, some rebounding, deep threat and CLUTCH

>PF: Bi-Juggs - Chose him over Love not for what he's doing now but his potential. He's just gonna get better (especially on D). Love won't. And him, Harden, KD, Rose on the break = MURDA. Plus with the 3 wings, I don't need my PF shooting 3's.

>C: Bynum - He's my half court answer to anybody. Durant & Harden will feast if you double him, Blake will eat glass too if you double him and both him and blake are oop threats. He has a good array of post moves, he's strong as hell and very efficient. Good defender and can anchor a D with shot blocking.

Thibs or Pop would be my coach for this team.

Honorable Mentions would be Paul George, Evan Turner, Monroe, 'Rie, Russy

with monroe and love, your team is letting everyone hit every layup. i'm not in love with any of the defensive skills of the under 25 crew, so i'd roll the dice with rook.

defensive skills are just too raw. i agree that who will be better in the future is shockingly open. i'd still take davis, ftr.

Derrick Rose would be the point guard...

Rose has missed this year due to injury...but he had 3 complete seasons....of course the Mvp year being one of those.

basic difference between Rose and Kyrie is that Rose has actually accomplished things on the court in the NBA as both an individual and leading a team to success...as opposed to flashes during shortened seasons...a nice all-star weekend...and representing your team at the lottery..

also...

Russy Westbrook is under 25....

no need to detail how much better and accomplished than Irving he is.

Kyrie irving is still living in the world of potential... he needs to play something close to a full season..and lead his team to success before he should be discussed with guys who have already done both.
