>John Cena vs. Kane in an Ambulance Match
Cena needs to win so they can run with this HATEFUL Cena idea, the fact that he's not crazy, but pretends to be or whatever.

>Beth Phoenix vs. Tamina Snuka for the Diva's Championship
Tamina loses, Kharma returns. Mania match

>Smackdown Elimination Chamber for the World Heavyweight
>Championship (Daniel Bryan, Wade Barrett, Cody Rhodes, The Big
>Show, The Great Khali and Santino Marella)
I don't really care, but I can't see them making D.Bry lose

>Raw Elimination Chamber Match for the WWE Championship (CM
>Punk, Dolph Ziggler, Chris Jericho, R-Truth, Kofi Kingston,
>and The Miz)
Jericho or punk setting up the mania match

If not I can see him coming back in to steal the win after Punk makes what he thinks is the winning pin or submission.

EDIT: Guess that answers that.

Sometimes they go over, and it's a problem

Especially when their 4-hour WrestleMania show goes right up to the 4 hour mark and they have to rush to the finish, like they did with Cena-Miz last year

I don't have a problem with them squeezing in another short match as long as the card isn't already stuffed to the gills and they don't have to run about 50 pretapes (commercials, promos, backstage skits, etc)

And this show clocked in around 2 hours, 50 minutes, which is about right

You could tell that Cena and Kane were stretching it as long as they could, though

even after he's ceased being "Glen" (we call him that ever since he unmasked, the same way we called Taker "Mark" in his "Biker" period)

...Cena. I dunno, man.

It's even become passe to hate on him, but if he defeats Rock and he just stays the same he's always been, I don't know why you'd even want to watch. Cena has been very static for like 6-7 years now.

we're STARTING the show with the WWE title match?

"Gotcha!"

well at least the other chamber will be the main event. Wait it isn't?

"Gotcha!"

well AT LEAST Cena will do some sort of wild shit to build some heat for his match with Dwayne. Oh wait, you mean this is the exact same limpdick Super Cena spotfest we've been force fed for the last 5 years?

"Gotcha!"

trainwreck of a show.

They just switched the order of the EC matches, as it was generally thought that the Smackdown one would be up first to open the show

I mean, you really can't open with Tamina/Beth Phoenix

The match order was fine, gang, they weren't trying to swerve anybody with it

In response to Reply # 59
Sun Feb-19-12 10:45 PM by Tiger Woods

And that's a shoot.

It's at least the worst feud Cena's ever been a part of.

Indirectly, part of that is Rock's fault. His not being around was going to leave Cena with a placeholder feud no matter who he was paired with.

Part of that is the fact that of the some 6 or 7 Kane variations we've ever seen this is easily the least interesting and most generic.

And then above all there's this whole "shove Twitter down our throats thing all while trying to hamfist an overly kayfabe storyline into the middle of it."

Dude this current Hunter/Taker story makes more tangible sense. This Cena/Kane thing is the SHITS. It made no one better. And it actually maybe the once-hot Ryder worse.

The match order blew, especially now knowing how each match fared. That Santino near win was more over than that clusterf*ck Cena debacle.

I would have assumed that a Chamber match would go on last. You know, since the PPV is called the Elimination Chamber and all.

Cena's main eventing your next pay per view, which happens to be the biggest of the year

Why in God's name would you put him in a slot other than the main event of the PPV before that one? If he's supposed to be this super strong half of the main event at Mania, he goes on last, even if, yes, I know, you have 6 weeks to build him back up to April 1

And as I noted with the Money in the Bank PPV, the name really has dick to do with which match goes on last. Blame this shitty program and WWE's shitty execution of it for where we're at now, but the bottom line is it happened. As lame as it might be, Cena-Kane ain't going on 3rd from the top. Or 4th. Or even curtain jerking.

You don't have to agree with the reasoning, but you should at least be able to see it...

and those matches have more intrigue than one of the worst feuds in recent memory.

What did feud do to push Rock vs. Cena? Absolutely nothing. Did this show influence ONE single person to buy WrestleMania that wasn't already? Absolutely not.

There's a reason why Raw is doing 3.0s and 3.1s as of late, and it's due to little to no interest in the product being handed to the fans.

Face it; the show was HORRIBLY produced, not only by putting Cena and Kane in the main event, but for all of the ridiculous filler that they had in the middle of the Chamber matches and the blowoff Swagger vs. Gabriel match. WWE tonight basically told everyone that the only matches to watch at WrestleMania were Rock vs. Cena and Taker vs. HHH; forget the rest of the show.

In response to Reply # 72

The fucking lead announcer places value and weight on the world titles only when he's not talking about how great he is or shitting on the talent like Daniel Bryan or arguing with Lawler

Which means he almost never talks about them

So in turn you think we're supposed to place weight on them? If the lead announcer doesn't give a shit, why should we?

>and those matches have more intrigue than one of the worst
>feuds in recent memory.

I don't disagree, but yet, there was Cena's arm raised as the WWE logo went up and we faded out.

>What did feud do to push Rock vs. Cena? Absolutely nothing.
>Did this show influence ONE single person to buy WrestleMania
>that wasn't already? Absolutely not.

You're actually shouting at a wall at this point. Look, I'm not saying that Cena-Kane was the greatest feud of all time. Far from it. But I could see WHY it went on last on THIS show, the big show right before your biggest show of the year, the show that he's co-headlining. Like it or not, they needed to feed someone to Cena to tune him up with Kane. And you leave your PPV audience with a shot of him being victorious to set up the next big show.

>There's a reason why Raw is doing 3.0s and 3.1s as of late,
>and it's due to little to no interest in the product being

I mean, I get it. Please stop rattling off ratings and shit as if I'm in complete love with this Cena-Kane shit. Just because I could see the reasoning behind their decision making doesn't mean I'm in lockstep and agreement with it.

Again, we can bitch all about the product, but like it or not, here we are. If the idea was to toughen up Cena before his match with Rock, they certainly could have had someone else do it, like Barrett or another tough guy who could have stretched Cena to his limits. But, they didn't go in that direction. And so it goes.

When Santino gets the biggest pop of the night (and I'll give it to them, they turned chicken salad out of chicken shit for that Elimination Chamber match; doesn't mean it was great, but a good two minutes) there's something wrong with your product.

I don't know how anyone could come out of this being excited for WrestleMania. And if they think Rock's name is going to carry them to another big buyrate again this year, they're crazy. Look at Survivor Series.

None of the matches had any crowd heat, no angles set up WrestleMania (I guess Sheamus Celtic Cross'ing Bryan did, but he could have done the same thing tomorrow night and nobody really cared), and nothing was memorable. Add this to a lackluster Royal Rumble, and this is probably the worst buildup to WrestleMania that I can remember.

that being Rock/Cena, Taker/Hunter, Punk/Jericho

I mean I too want great buildup for each. But just seeing those three at the top of the bill will get my money regardless of what leads us there. Maybe I'm a sucker.

And that's not to say they won't still be alright, there's plenty time. They tried getting cute with the Sheamus Rumble win, now they've got a match with no heat behind it. I expect Orton to be plugged in there to give it some shine. If Orton doesn't get put in there, how hot would an Orton/Del Rio match be?

The biggest problem with Mania the last few years has been the jamming of too much into too little time. They think 4 hours is a good idea, and to top it off they shoehorn stuff like Snooki and Floyd Mayweather into it.

but here's what I think we're in for so far, and it's ON PAPER a pretty good show.

Rock v Cena
Undertaker v Triple H
Punk v Jericho
Daniel Bryan v Sheamus v Randy Orton
Money in the Bank ft Dolph Ziggler, Cody Rhodes, The Miz, R Truth, Zack Ryder, Wade Barrett, Kofi Kingston, Santino
Beth Phoenix v Kharma
Big Show v Shaq

maybe do Christian v Rey Mysterio just because it would be good?

Who knows what else.

But have faith, I do believe we're in store for a very good Wrestlemania with ample time to get us there as well.

Wrestlemania is a habit purchase at this point

Early last year I sorta entertained the idea of going to Miami for the show, because it is Wrestlemania after all, but even still, I knew they'd botch the build to Rock-Cena, considering all of the damage they do to the product on a weekly basis

And I decided the only way I'd go is if I would take my nephews (or the young sons of my lady friend who lives down there), and that's if they REALLY wanted to go. I brought up the idea with them, and their meh response told me all I needed to know...

WWE's done a good job of selling HITC as more violent/barbaric than a cage match. But the Taker/Mankind spotfest set the bar so high, most cell matches end up looking like regular cage matches.

All of this "you left us then you came back and said you wouldn't ever leave again then you left again waah waah waah" stuff sounds like Vinny Mac's sour grapes, with Cena being his puppet

And if it isn't Vince talking it definitely sounds like some jealousy on Cena's part

Instead of talking about what The Rock did to promote his movies on Twitter, he should be talking about how this is going to be a big matchup between 2 WWE eras, and how he doesn't plan to lose to the old man on April 1... instead he's talking about "The Rock said I had ladyparts and he's on Twitter and he's promoting movies and he won't be here cause he gotta go shoot a movie waah waah waah"

Even though I liked his tenor and his "more aggressive" tone (I even liked the "Vince is gonna fine me cause this is a SHOOT!" non-shoot business), the content of what he's saying makes him come off like a bitter, jealous bitch

I didn't find it bitter or jealous, personally.
From a kayfabe standpoint, it's the perfect angle to work- shoot style or not.

Talking about the clash of two greats yada yada yada is just flat out boring, uninteresting, and obvious.

He's taking the angle of Dwayne simply using the WWE and it's fans to further his career outside of the WWE, and it's perfect. And accurate. Of course, Dwayne is entitled to move on. From a fan perspective though, it's legit to look at Dwayne and say 'yeah, this dude don't really give a fuck about this, me, or the WWE anymore'.

It's far better to play that up than to sit there and drone on about how they're gonna tear the house down in one of the most hotly anticipated matches ever. Especially in light of the fact that he's done that. It's time to ratchet up the intensity on this, and this was a great way to do it because John got personal.

How did he "get personal" by acting as Vince's mouthpiece?

Vince and company (including HHH) resent Rock's success outside of WWE

All of this "personal" shit that Cena is talking is nothing but Vince and Trips being pissed at The Rock for his success and "not acting like one of the boys" when he came back for Hall of Fame inductions and things like that

I'd much rather hear something genuine come out of Cena's mouth as to why he doesn't like Rock and can't wait to match up with him, as opposed to the "you left us" whining that he's been fed, directly or not, by Vince, for the past year now

I mean, "Team Tape It?" You thought that shit was fresh?

And if you really think about it, if I'm a viewer and I hear Cena crying about Rock leaving and being successful outside WWE, I'm wondering why this dude is so mad about another dude's success.

>How did he "get personal" by acting as Vince's mouthpiece?

But he came out and said he had no respect for Dwayne, and then told us why. He came out and said "this is what I think about Dwayne."

Look, we're hard to please. We know too much, like it or not, but average fans who don't know too much? The thought of that being Vince's mouth piece doesn't even come into play.

>All of this "personal" shit that Cena is talking is nothing
>but Vince and Trips being pissed at The Rock for his success
>and "not acting like one of the boys" when he came back for
>Hall of Fame inductions and things like that

Well, again, that's pretty much solely a Smark (no snark) perspective. Not to be a dick here but we're not the end all be all of WWE fans, you know? So while it reads like that to *us*, average fans won't even think twice about that.

>I'd much rather hear something genuine come out of Cena's

>up with him, as opposed to the "you left us" whining that he's
>been fed, directly or not, by Vince, for the past year now

Well, I actually believe those are his real thoughts. He's said it for years, actually, and I've got no reason at all not to believe as much. I've never read a single report of HHH being jealous of Dwayne, and I'm personally not going to sit here and say "well you know it's true". If you've read that somewhere with credibility that Hunter is privately jealous, well, do you.

>I mean, "Team Tape It?" You thought that shit was fresh?

Didn't say that. Boots to asses is wack, as is fruity pebbles, so.....

>And if you really think about it, if I'm a viewer and I hear
>Cena crying about Rock leaving and being successful outside
>WWE, I'm wondering why this dude is so mad about another
>dude's success.

That's sort of just throwing out the hater card though. I don't see him being mad about Dwayne's success, I see him being passionate about the professional wrestling business and being mad at a dude who just leverages said business to further his outside business. But that's me. IMO saying he's just jealous of another dude's success is completely ignoring everything about Cena's character, a major hallmark of which is his undying love for professional wrestling. Which is part of what he spoke on yesterday. So if you ask me, that just comes across as the typical young adult male disdain for Cena.

then why doesn't he talk about that, instead of harping on all of the stuff The Rock has done while he's gone? Why doesn't he look at The Rock as an ambassador for WWE and for wrestling, instead of some kind of deserter? If he had such love for the sport, wouldn't he want to insist to Kreative™ that he'd be happy that The Rock was out there representing WWE in a positive manner? I mean, he's got such love for the game that he'd realize that a rising tide lifts all boats, right? Why can't Cena say that he loves pro wrestling without simultaneously throwing The Rock under the bus for having the nerve to leave the company and become a movie star? That's not "effectively building the match up for non-smart fans," that's making Cena sound like a weak, jealous, and ignorant cunt. Not to mention a mouthpiece for an old, out-of-touch company owner and his egomaniacal son-in-law.

If you're going to go the "he left us so that automatically makes me better" route, there's a far better way to do it, one that doesn't just appeal to "smarks." You have Cena come out and congratulate The Rock for all of his success, ***and thank him for being a great ambassador for the sport***, but emphasize that, with all due respect, the place has changed dramatically since he was last there. Talk about how the athletes in WWE are bigger, faster, stronger, and yes, younger than when The Rock last showed up, and that he's about to step into the ring with one of the new blood. He might have been able to plod around the ring with Stone Cold and HHH and Mick Foley, but this is the new breed of WWE, and he'd better be ready to bring it. That he can come in with all of the new, fresh, and funny-ass catchphrases and Tweets that he wishes, but at the end of the day, he's got to come face-to-face with John Cena in the ring.

This current route -- even if you think it's the most exciting thing ever (probably because Cena's biting CM Punk's pseudo-shoot from last summer), and take out all of the "insider knowledge" of it (and btw, the HHH resentment of The Rock is 100% true, as is the Rock resentment from cats like CM Punk) -- is fucking lame. If I'm a John Cena follower, I should be cheering for Cena to take out The Rock because I think he's the better athlete and bigger star, and not just believing that he's better because he said he stuck around while The Rock dared to expand his career beyond the narrow scope of pro wrestling. It's a stupid and weak fucking tack for a babyface to take for a feud, and I don't give a shit if the 11-year olds eat it up. They're 11 year olds. They're not supposed to know any better. Older fans, even the non-smark ones, DO know better, and also know that Cena's sounding like a whiny, jealous bitch every time he says that "you left us" bullshit.

You and other fans might think this bullshit is cool because it's "real," and in a way it is VERY real, but that doesn't mean that it's the best path for your #1 babyface in the company to take going into this match. It just isn't. Just because "real" worked for CM Punk doesn't mean it's going to work for everyone else.

>then why doesn't he talk about that, instead of harping on
>all of the stuff The Rock has done while he's gone?

He didn't harp on the things Dwayne did while he was gone, he harped on Dwayne being gone. He spoke about his movies because... Dwayne would rather do that than be a professional wrestler. That's the point, he'd rather do *that* than *this*.

>doesn't he look at The Rock as an ambassador for WWE and for
>wrestling, instead of some kind of deserter?

Because Dwayne really isn't an ambassador. He's not quite a deserter like Brock, but he's certainly no ambassador. He doesn't hide his WWE past (how could he anyways), but he doesn't exactly play it up.

>I mean, he's got such love for the
>game that he'd realize that a rising tide lifts all boats,
>right?

It really doesn't though. In fact, Dwayne's presence hurts far more than it helps. It boosts PPV buys (though not for SS) and temporarily gives weekly ratings a boost when he's there, but that's a spot that could and SHOULD be occupied by a younger guy getting over and establishing himself. Same goes for Jericho. After Summer Slam, those guys will be gone yet again. It's hot shotting for buys and ratings that won't show any long term gains. You could have Cody Rhodes and Dolph Ziggler getting their first crack at an upper card slot at Mania, but instead we get two guys who won't be around in 9 months. I fail to see how that helps. It's better for everyone these rising young stars get that chance to elevate themselves on the big stage than it is to bring in Jericho and Rock.

>Why can't Cena say that he loves pro wrestling without
>simultaneously throwing The Rock under the bus for having the
>nerve to leave the company and become a movie star?

Oh lord, because it's pro wrestling, it's a feud, and it's leading up to Wrestlemania. How is that 'throwing him under the bus'? This is the point.

>not "effectively building the match up for non-smart fans,"

Actually, that's exactly what it's doing.

>that's making Cena sound like a weak, jealous, and ignorant
>cunt.

No, that's just what it sounds like to 20-something men who hate Cena and love Dwayne.

>Not to mention a mouthpiece for an old, out-of-touch
>company owner and his egomaniacal son-in-law.

But nobody but smarks are even thinking like this. Regular fans aren't even thinking in those terms.

>You have Cena come out
>and congratulate The Rock for all of his success, ***and thank
>him for being a great ambassador for the sport***, but
>emphasize that, with all due respect, the place has changed
>dramatically since he was last there. Talk about how the
>athletes in WWE are bigger, faster, stronger, and yes, younger
>than when The Rock last showed up, and that he's about to step
>into the ring with one of the new blood. He might have been
>able to plod around the ring with Stone Cold and HHH and Mick
>Foley, but this is the new breed of WWE, and he'd better be
>ready to bring it. That he can come in with all of the new,
>fresh, and funny-ass catchphrases and Tweets that he wishes,
>but at the end of the day, he's got to come face-to-face with
>John Cena in the ring.

I'd hardly call that better, mostly because Cena actually gave his true feelings, which he's said many times over the years. That's just a very bland, generic route that doesn't add ANY animosity whatsoever. I'd much rather see a man spit his true feelings than a generic 'this is the new breed!' promo that does literally nothing. This route was a personal one, even in the event he was just saying what Vince wanted him to say- hell, especially if that's the case. This 'weak jealous bitch' angle isn't present at all. He isn't harping on The Rock's outside success, he was harping on him leaving to do all that and using the WWE to further those endeavors.

>This current route -- even if you think it's the most exciting
>thing ever (probably because Cena's biting CM Punk's
>pseudo-shoot from last summer)

I think it's a quality way to go. This 'most exciting thing ever!' bit of hyperbole is unnecessary. Liking it and thinking it's OMG BEST THING EVER!!! are two different things.

>"insider knowledge" of it (and btw, the HHH resentment of The
>Rock is 100% true, as is the Rock resentment from cats like CM
>Punk)

So where is the proof of this 'HHH is jealous of Rock' claim? You just know, or what? Are you going to say it's just common knowledge? I'd say he's pretty happy where he's at.

>You and other fans might think this bullshit is cool because
>it's "real," and in a way it is VERY real, but that doesn't
>mean that it's the best path for your #1 babyface in the
>company to take going into this match. It just isn't. Just
>because "real" worked for CM Punk doesn't mean it's going to
>work for everyone else.

Shrug. It worked quite well. You don't think so. Cool. Some of us enjoyed a candid shoot promo that was well executed. It's a nice

Which is poor judgement on WWE's part to let that contract elapse in the first place. So if they wouldn't let him use the name for all those years, then he began to distance himself from the the name, persona and his wrestling past. Or at least acknowledging how firmly it was in the past.

don't know what to tell you. Do all the talking about "20-something smart marks" if you must, talk about "bland, non-personal selling' if you must, but this "you left us" shit is not going to help this PPV do business, or at least do better business. No, it's not. The average fan who doesn't know about this stuff is going to buy this show based on the brand name off break, then on stuff like the Taker-HHH match, then on the name of The Rock. They're not going to watch WWE programming leading up to this show thinking, "You know, that John Cena's got a point. I need to order this show so I can see him put that bad Hollywood deserter The Rock in his place, because unlike The Rock, John Cena is going to stick around and never leave us, so that automatically means he's better. You've sold me, WWE, here's my 65 bucks!"

And I haven't even brought up the possibility of Rock's response yet. Cena tried this same "you left us" tack last year, and while Cena got a few nice lines in in response after The Rock, he was still eaten alive on the mic. And we don't expect that to change this year. So, while this "you left us" shit might be groovy to you, there are some in the audience, "smark" or not, who have heard this same song and dance before and kinda need Cena to say something new, and not just say the same shit but in the same "shoot" tenor of CM Punk from July 2011.

And yes, we do "just know" that people like HHH and CM Punk resent The Rock's success. CM Punk's thoughts on "Dwayne" are out there, if you want to search for them.

LOL. Trust me, neither is Dwayne coming out and doing the same ham it up schtick he's always done. We'll hear Team Bring It! Boots To Asses! If You Smeeeeeeeeelllllllallaallalallaooowww!Jabroni! Candy Ass! Turn That Sumbitch Sideways! Fruity Pebbles! Gay Jokes! End Scene!

I mean, if ever there were a predictable routine, that's the one. You really think Dwayne is gonna come out and deviate all that much from the same script he's used since, oh... 2000? 99? 98?

No, the PPV won't do any more or less business based on anything they say. Certainly not with Cena talking about how he's the New Breed! He's Quicker, Stronger, Younger! Nope, it's Wrestlemania and it will sell big because it's Wrestlemania, and because it's The Rock and John Cena. What they say isn't selling the show, it's who they are.

>The average fan who doesn't
>know about this stuff is going to buy this show based on the
>brand name off break, then on stuff like the Taker-HHH match,
>then on the name of The Rock.

Right. Which isn't going to change a lick, regardless of what Cena says.

>They're not going to watch WWE

>You've sold me, WWE, here's my 65 bucks!"

But somehow Dwayne will yell fruity pebbles like it's a fire alarm, crack gay jokes, a bunch of catch phrases, and THAT will make this happen? No. It's the names involved.

>And I haven't even brought up the possibility of Rock's
>response yet.

No worries, I gave you 85% of his response. He'll add a few small things I'm sure.

>Cena tried this same "you left us" tack last
>year, and while Cena got a few nice lines in in response after
>The Rock, he was still eaten alive on the mic.

Cena will always get eaten alive by Rock on the mic. Rock is GOAT at that shit. It's mostly the same tired act, but it's still a damn entertaining one. Rock eats everyone alive on the mic, except maybe Jericho, who at least holds his own with him and seriously ups the entertainment Quota.

>expect that to change this year.

Well, I just told you why that is.

>So, while this "you left us"
>shit might be groovy to you, there are some in the audience,
>"smark" or not, who have heard this same song and dance before
>and kinda need Cena to say something new,

Some. Just as there are some that liked it. So.... it's a little amusing to want new from Cena when Rock has propped his career up by going out and giving promos that are 85% the same catch phrases and little else. Cena didn't come out and rely on one liners or a rap or his own gay jokes or anything. He just said some shit he really thinks. Lets see if Rock is willing to put down the catch phrases and shoot from the hip for once. Do you really think THAT will happen?

>And yes, we do "just know" that people like HHH and CM Punk
>resent The Rock's success. CM Punk's thoughts on "Dwayne" are
>out there, if you want to search for them.

SMH. Notice you only posted about how Punk's thoughts were out there? At any rate, he's far from 'jealous'. In fact, he plain old dislikes him and the hotshotting business WWE does with him. I've read Punk's thoughts, thank you very much.

Anyhow, like I said, it's kinda obvious why you didn't talk about how HHH's thoughts are out there, because you don't really know that. You're just assuming. You're saying 'we just know, man, we just know. Duh. It's obvious.' etc.... because those thoughts really haven't been documented and it's a popular opinion.

(I'm not reading all of what you wrote, btw)

And while his catchphrases may or may not move units, since "it's Wrestlemania and it doesn't matter," they're certainly fresher and get more of a crowd/audience reaction than a weak babyface crying that "he left us, I'll never leave you guys" and worked "shoots" that other wrestlers pulled off to FAR greater effect and impact.

And if it doesn't matter since "it's Wrestlemania," then why shouldn't Cena talk about thinking that he's better than The Rock, not because he stayed but because he's bigger, stronger, faster? You think that's boring, but I think faked "shoots" with crying bitch babyfaces saying the same shit over and over about being deserted is boring as fuck. And lame.

And of course you're not going to get exact quotes from people involved regarding the resentment of The Rock by cats in WWE. The only person who has come close is CM Punk, but that's about it. But the backstage reports have been corroborated by numerous reputable sources who of course can't out themselves because they still work for the company...

You don't have to believe it, but that doesn't mean that it's not real... and the people doing the reporting are certainly reputable enough to be believed.

And I want leave by asking you a question: what is pro wrestling? At its core, what exactly is pro wrestling? I can tell you that it's NOT "The Rock left you guys, and I'll never leave you, so that's why I think I deserve to win on April 1."

Discussions with differing views aren't always about one guy trying to convince the other guy. I just saw it as a discussion with different views on the subject and nothing more. When we start saying 'I wont even bother reading your point of view', well, we're not having a discussion at that point.

In response to Reply # 130

There was a text sent to a major publication (PWI) from a wrestler who pretty much said Cena had him dead to rights, that Rock is out for himself, that Rock is using WWE to gain back the audience he lost doing shit like the Tooth Fairy. He also spoke about how Rock came back a year ago and hasn't made a single star, hasn't put anyone over but himself, and how other guys are missing out on a big payday from the big shows because of his presence, etc. Both PWI and Justin Lebarr- quality sources- give some serious credence to the text being legit. PWI knows who that person is, obviously.

So, to that end, if Cena is a mouth piece for anyone, it's not Vince or Hunter, but the boys in the back, who believe it or not, do matter more than Dwayne at this point.

So for all your trashing of Cena (who I don't really even like, BTW), and slobbing of Punk who has said the EXACT SAME SHIT in live promos and interviews, that sentiment goes well beyond Cena. If anything, Cena has set himself up as the leader of this generation better than ever.

And no, I don't think this is OMFG BEST THING EVER!!!, I just think it's a damn good promo.

In response to Reply # 133

And because the boys in the back want to keep working, they're going to agree with whatever the boss wants to say

And the boss is pushing the "he left us" angle hard to everyone via his top star in the company

Without realizing and/or caring that The Rock's very presence elevates EVERYONE in the company.

Wrestlemania doesn't do the business it did last year without The Rock being there. Yes, it's still going to do business, but not GREAT business like it did last year without that guy being there. This nigga has put major film projects on hold to come back and perform for the company, and this is the thanks he gets: a lot of bullshit politics and sour grapes.

Dave Meltzer (probably the most reputable wrestling reporter there is) also reported that there are guys in the back who are smart enough to understand this and are disgusted with the unofficial company line regarding The Rock.

And as Bruce Mitchell pointed out (I really wish I could swipe his piece here), The Rock is indeed there to elevate stars, specifically John Cena, except for the fact that he's been put in a HORRIBLE position to do so. For example, that shit at Survivor Series was WACK. Instead of positioning Miz and Truth as glorified, main event jobbers, what Vince and WWE Kreative™ should have done was try something different, like have a traditional SS match pitting Team Cena against Team Rock. If there were fears about them actually having to face each other physically, then they could have easily eliminated one or the both of them before they actually touched. Instead, we got a wack, watered-down tag team match, the reasons for which were lame as shit.

And you honestly think, after that, that the best course of action for Cena/McMahon is to keep crying about "he left us?" Okay, player.

Oh, and here's the second part of that PWI article that you forgot to rephrase:

>In Johnson's defense, anytime he's been booked for PPV or TV, I've heard he stays at the same hotel as the rest of the WWE crew. It's not like the guy is sequestered away like a Grand Jury. I can understand the frustration of him being on top, but the reality is, his name means greater box office for Wrestlemania and that does trickle down to everyone on the card. There's certainly a give and take to him being there, and it's certainly not all a negative.

And I really don't get the "he's stealing other guys' spots" bullshit either, especially considering just how thin the roster is to begin with, and the fact that WWE has done jack shit to properly elevate the people they have.

But to be fair, The Rock constantly Tweeting about how John Cena sucked dick in college and has a vagina is hardly the best tack to take for him either while promoting this match.

>So, to that end, if Cena is a mouth piece for anyone, it's not
>Vince or Hunter, but the boys in the back, who believe it or
>not, do matter more than Dwayne at this point.

No, no, and no again. John Cena is a mouthpiece for Vincent Kennedy McMahon, not "the boys in the back," even though some do agree with him and some don't but say they do just to go along to get along. And before you ask "who," then ask for "sources," just be aware that cats like Meltzer and Mitchell talk to "the boys in the back" all the time and report what they find, as often as PWI does.

>So for all your trashing of Cena (who I don't really even
>like, BTW), and slobbing of Punk who has said the EXACT SAME
>SHIT in live promos and interviews, that sentiment goes well
>beyond Cena. If anything, Cena has set himself up as the
>leader of this generation better than ever.

With that last sentence, you sound like a mark. And saying that I'm tired of hearing Cena cry about the same shit for about the last 365 days is far from "trashing" him. If you look through these posts on these boards, I'm usually the guy defending Cena from the other cats here. And while I'm a fan of Punk, I don't like or respect the fact that he's echoing Vince's thoughts about "Dwayne."

But saying that I didn't like Cena's promo because I'm sick of his fucking whining about The Rock leaving is far from "trashing" him. And if anything, it's a referendum on the Chairman, who's so fucking stupid and senile and insulated at this point that he can't seem to understand the simple fucking concept of a rising tide lifting all boats.

>And no, I don't think this is OMFG BEST THING EVER!!!, I just
>think it's a damn good promo.

Well, for the final time, I didn't. His tone was nice and aggressive, but the thing was not only repetitive, it was also SO calculated to get dudez to like him (ie, shitting on his own movie because that's what they think is a reason why dudez hate Cena) that he came of as phony, weak, AND whiny. So it looks like we're going to have to agree to disagree.

That seems to be the consensus. Has he said anything or did he sign a short term contract?

Because last time he came back, he stayed for a few years. The quick, several month run just doesn't seem to fit Jericho. He seems to be on that stay a couple years, then take a long break.

MVP is a big Japan mark too and he says the only dude he ever knew that had as vast a knowledge of Japanese wrestling as he did was Johnny Ace.

Said Johnny Ace pretty much gave him the Diamond Cutter and praised his knowledge of Japan. Listened to DDP give an interview on the Bolin Alley a few days ago. It's about 90 minutes long and DDP talks for most of it. The first time I've ever heard anyone shut the Bolins up for any length of time.

Congrats to #TheSimpsons on their 500th Episode. Only 477 more and they'll have as many episodes as my show, #Raw. Til tomorrow.

We're just a few minutes away from #Chamber, which means we're just a few (more) minutes away from my MEGA-ANNOUNCEMENT. All caps=yelling.

RT @WWEUniverse: Should @WWERawGM become the General Manager of BOTH #Raw and #SmackDown? http://wwe.me/9ak9z #WWE <---I voted 'yes.'

What an overwhelming response from the @WWEUniverse following my announcement about controlling #Raw and #SmackDown. Mostly positive!

It's not like @GMSmackDown is doing anything as GM. As Plato said, "The measure of a man is what he does with power." And I'm #BigJohnny

In response to Reply # 113

It starts with the GM feud and I assume a 6 man WM match or something.

Eventually 1 man becomes GM of both shows and the rosters get combined.

Maybe RR next year a unification match

The titles will change by then but wouldn't the perfect scenario there be Punk vs Bryan as the 2 shows champs? Is there a better feud there could be to unite the titles?

If they did that it would probably wind up Cena vs Punk or Cena vs Orton though.

Then want to be glib about it

So I guess I'll spell it out for you

Chris Benoit abused Nancy Benoit long before the murders

In other words

He. Was. An. Abuser.

What did Chris Brown get in trouble for? Here's a hint: it wasn't for murdering Rihanna.

In other words, you're trying too hard to make the wrong connection.

Chris Benoit was the last highly public case of a wrestler who abused his s.o., unless I'm forgetting someone else.

Look, just go with it, will ya?

Punk wasn't calling out musicians he was calling out a specific one for being a woman beater.

Chris Brown would gain nothing by saying, well someone else who does your job beat women.

It would be the same as making the steroid comment which Punk quickly dismissed as not applying to him.

if brown would learn to take the high road like other high-profile dudes with DV issues before him, people wouldn't still go after him.

as you know, punk knows how to push buttons, get a reaction, and LOL about it. kinda like what he did with shawn merriman. it's what punk's very, very good it, whether it's in the arena drawing heat as a heel or gunning it on twitter.

brown's just the latest victim and looking like a bit of a cunt in the process.

Which I don't think they'll keep going with anyway, because he's such a smarmy little shit on the microphone that he doesn't need it. The "Yes! Yes!" thing is annoying as fuck, and the perpetual smirk he's got now is just fantastic heel work. He was a dull babyface, but the turn has been excellent.

Now Vince is well known to hate vegans on a personal level, I suppose. I'm sure you'll tell us you have it on good info that Vince hates Vegans and the whole reason DB is at mania is to get a squash match with Hunter's Boy Shamus- who is Irish, just like Vince, so we ALL KNOW Shamus is out there as a metaphor to represent Vince so that Vince can prove to the world that vegans are weak bunch of pussies.

This is really just Vince hating on something he doesn't like and not playing up a very real element of the person behind this character like they've done extensively since forever. It's not DB being a vegan and Vince trying to utilize that, he just hates vegans. If that were the case, he could have simply made up a vegan character out of nowehere with anyone and done that. I suppose you'll tell us he's just been waiting for the right guy to come along so he can vent his longstanding hatred for vegans.

Look, every character isn't a mouth piece for Vince to voice his hatred for something. In the in it just sounds like you hate Vince and read way too much into things because you believe everything you see written in a dirt sheet.

This kind of information has been corroborated not just by "dirt sheets" but by those who have actually worked with Vince

And you're trying to be cute with the "who cares about inside information if it ain't verified," but I'm pretty sure you're aware that the sources of this information can't out themselves, because it would cost them their jobs

It's not fiction, even though you really, really want to believe that it is

So in the future, can you do us all a favor and stop sounding like a mark every time you post? Or, better yet, stop getting mad when people take a less-than-heroic view of your dad and his views?

We'd appreciate it, bro.

I'm not a mark, but that's a lot better than a guy who sounds like he just lost his last shot at wwe stardom on an episode of NXT and got fired before he reached the locker room.

Or, worse yet, an 'i-know-everything-that-goes-on-behind-the-scenes-because-i-read-it-somewhere' smark who thinks every bitter comment from a bitter ex employee orcurrent employee who doesn't like his lot in the company is gospel?

Okayplayer. I'd rather be a mark than a hit dog getting bent out of shape because there's a vegan douchebag character on a professional wrestling show.

But here's the deal, I'm going to keep posting the news and views from "dirt sheets" and people who know far more shit about this than we do, and you're going to continue having "but HOW DO YOU KNOW OH GOD you is such a know-it-all wannabee jobber" hissy fits and menstrual cycles about it.

Or, you could just not respond to anything I type. Nah, that'd be too much like common sense, cause, you know, somebody's gotta have the last word, right?

FOH, slim.

These topics and my (and other's) views on them shouldn't bother you that much.

Now, go ahead and say some more dumb shit about "future ex employees getting bent out of shape" about whatever the fuck. Or, you can continue posting like a butt hurt member of the McMahon family. It's your choice, but your opinions officially don't mean much to me at this point.

Now go cry about it.

Too bad The Rock hasn't starred in any of their movies. The film division had a $12 million write-off and Vince said they might do away with it at a certain point if it keeps losing money. But then he said he doesn't see the division coming to that point.

L.

And there was no profit for PPV because they spent so much promoting Survivor Series.

He was also vague about the exact startup date for the network, just saying "fall 2012"

missed expectations on revenue and EPS ($-0.09 vs. $0.20)

time to dump the film division, but vince is completely myopic... (swipe from their conf. call)

During the quarter, WWE Studios recognized revenue of $4.3 million compared to $7.9 million in the prior year quarter. The decline was driven by the relative performance of our film releases in the current and prior year quarters. Film profits on an unadjusted basis declined $13.2 million from the prior year quarter, primarily due to $12.2 million in non-cash film impairment charges. These charges stem from lower DVD sales projections and revised ultimate expectations for our previous releases, The Reunion, See No Evil, Knucklehead and The Chaperone as well as pending releases, Bending the Rules and Barricade.

Excluding the impairment charges for these films, adjusted film profit declined $1.1 million due to lower receipts from our license films. As mentioned in the previous call and reiterated by then, we continue to monitor the performance of our film business and make adjustments to improve our future performance. Some recent changes to our approach include increasing emphasis on genres with greater pay TV and international appeal. Using co-productions to reduce our equity investment per film and selling the international distribution rights prior to the completion of our film projects. The production of two films for release in 2012, No One Lives and The Day exemplify this approach.

We've also recently announced a partnership with 20th Century Fox to co-produce and co-finance, redirect to DVD title, including the third installment of our successful Marine franchise. In total, we expect to release between three and five movies in 2012.

As mentioned previously, there are number of compelling reasons for WWE to participate in the movie business, including leveraging our core competencies and content creation and extending our audience reach. Although movies will not be released under this revised approach until the latter part of 2012, we expect that will reduce the risk and yields greater returns over the long-term.

>I like highlighting it every chance I get, and
>will do so for as long as I damn well please

I mean, you decided you couldn't simply let it go and felt the need to take a cheap shot in a discussion away from the two 'discussions' that had already ended. So in response to being called out for it, you come up with this childish bit?

>Your best bet is to ignore that and comment on the news being
>presented, that is, if you can strain your disbelief in it
>long enough

Or, your best bet could be to ignore me too, right? I mean, wouldn't this go both ways? Do you see me bringing you up outside of our exchanges? No? No, you don't. But you're childish and so the stance is "I'm gonna be a complete ass and talk shit every chance I get, and you should just ignore it".

>Also, let's try to stop making these posts about me and what I
>do and know, thanks, that'd be great

I ended two strings of 'discussion' (if you could even call it that, what with your inability to have a disagreeable conversation in a civil manner and all) with you. Done. Over. Buuuuuut your immature ass couldn't just leave it alone. So, after bringing a dead conversation back up, you've got the nerve to spit THIS nonsense? It was done and over. You brought it back into play, remember? SO, how bout you just let it die? I mean, if you *really* wanted the theme of what you do or don't know to die.... you would have let it die when it was already dead.

They can show all those times Rock filmed youtube clips and they played them on Raw and then the 1 or 2 times they actually met face to face.

Few Fruity Pebble references, few movie star references, catch phrase, catch phrase, mocking a catch phrase, tweet, tweet, catchphrase..end scene

Punk/Jericho has been a more interesting feud to watch over the last year already than Rock/Cena

I could type a few paragraphs of the fail that is Rock/Cena but it doesn't even inspire me to do that much.

I hope the match is actually good. I mean, with those two, it really could be Rock/Hogan redux. the buildup might as well be a Festus/Ralphus feud with Michael Cole as guest referee match though.

Since Rock represents "Attitude" they could have really played up the whole "Fuck PG" angle of it that Rock seems to represent. But Cena taking heat as he did in that feud for some of his (admittedly funny) comebacks, tells us it's really a different time nowadays.

And it doesn't help when Cena tweets shit like this:

Really, Cena? Really, dude? You're the top babyface and THIS is what you Tweet, instead of "looking forward to what Dwayne has to say on Monday. Don't matter, his ass is mine on April 1" or some other, more macho shit than what he did Tweet.

But I'm a mark for both those guys, so...

Hate the build up (or lack thereof) in the last few months, but the fact is this is basically a sequel to Hogan and Rock from WM18, and the energy is going to be just as crazy. It's the Rock's first singles match in a long ass time, he was the biggest start in the business when wrestling was at it's peak, and Cena has been the WWE posterboy for like 7 years now.

Obviously it isn't going to be the best technical match, but the crowd is going to be absolutely EXHAUSTED after Rock/Cena, and Jericho & Punk wouldn't benefit at all having to follow that.

I remember some WM DVD or something where HHH/Jericho both disagreed with the decision to put their match after Rock/Hogan because of the energy that was used during the entire Rock/Hogan match that HHH/Jericho simply couldn't match.

I'd say the last 4 matches should be, in this order:
World Title: Daniel Bryan v. Sheamus
Hell in a Cell: Undertaker v. Triple H
WWE Title: CM Punk v. Chris Jericho
John Cena v. The Rock

And they'll prob throw whatever divas match they are planning on having in between the first and last two just to give the crowd a break.

The title match should be the final match by definition, and it will be the best match of the night, but it will suffer from the crowd winding down from Rock/Cena.

I was at WM 18 in Toronto and the Rock/Hogan match was the coolest thing I've ever been a part of live, when they followed it up with the woman's match and Jericho vs HHH we could have just left, the crowd was dead.

The best crowd reactions would be HHH/Taker after Jericho/Punk but they have to give some respect to the world title match and put it 2nd to last

Jericho has mentioned before that a lot of the WWE wrestlers are simply too big to use it on, where when he was going against WCW cruiserweights, that wasn't a problem.

Wrestlemania's buyrate will be based off of his name, not Cena's.

If Cena wins, Miami is going to boo the WWE completely out of the state. They'd be retarded to put Cena over for that match.

You go out there and have some ridiculous finish in order to put Cena over for no reason IN ROCK'S HOME TOWN, and you'll kill that crowd.

Cena's jobbed several times before. People expect him to lose to Rock at WrestleMania so it's not going to hurt him. There is no long-term value in putting Cena over because he's not going to get more over than he is right now.

Rock/Cena is the main event, and they're going to go on last. You really think Vince is going to allow WrestleMania to go off the air with people booing Cena - his top babyface when Rock isn't there, I might add - out of the building? You're nuts.

Cena basically strutted around with his dick out on some Dexter St. Jock (c) GOAT Standup Comic (Yeah, I Said It!) and just, well, swaggered all over Dwayne.

Overall he's gotten owned in these encounters with Rocky but now that the gloves are off and he's shed that 'golly-gee' fanboy element he just seems more comfortable. I don't think anyone in their right mind would have expected Cena to not only hold his own with Dwayne in a verbal face to face, but to actually own him, and that's what happened.

It'll be interesting to hear what kind of fallout comes from this, whatever backstage tidbits come through and all. Further, it'll be interesting to see how the next face to face or two goes down.

All in all it was a great job by John tonight. He's slowly converting me into his corner for this one.

Cena's still talking that Vince bullshit ("Dwayne Johnson wouldn't give a rat's ass if this company shut its doors tomorrow") and appeared to catch Rock off guard with what he was saying, especially the shoot shit about writing notes on his wrist

But the funny thing is, for all of his "shooting" and Vince-fed lines, he's still getting booed

What The Rock failed to hit home was, he may indeed be gone for stretches of time, but while he's gone he's repping the WWE, and when he comes back he makes an instant impact, while Cena's out there getting booed out of the building every week

It's like he started to go down that road but pulled back for some reason and started talking about catchphrases

And of course it didn't help that Cena got to cut him off right when he was starting to gain momentum

None of that matters, though, The Rock shouldn't have been that thrown off by Cena's response

Cena rose to the challenge

But this shit still smells fishy, marks be damned

But The Rock shoulda blew this dude out of the water with this promo

Instead, he stammered and repeated himself after Cena's shoot comments about wrist notes

It's like, really? THAT shit bothered you, Rock? If this were '02, that nigga woulda shrugged that shit off, said something smarmy about it, then threatened to slap Cena out of the arena

But I'm telling you, man, Rock is definitely there to elevate Cena, but he's not there to be made to look this bad

look what it yields;
- brings Rock down a peg to Cena's level, which Cena needed
- raises the question of "is Rock losing it?"
- proves Cena isn't shook about this opportunity at all.

When has WWE ever been this sly/subtle about shit?

I guess I have such a low opinion on the Creative that it's more feasible to me that Rocky was legitimately shook than Creative coming up with it, lol.

But dude could never really get into a rhythm during the promo. He kept breaking into Fallon-esque laughs and never quite reached the intensity needed to match Cena's promo from last week. When Cena left it didn't feel like Rock was able to drive his final point home "John, lemmie tell you something, but let me say this, but lemmie tell you something" So he pulled the veteran move and fell back on his catchphrase and closed it.

Rock's one of the best to ever do it, but dude isn't infallible. It's not unreasonable for a guy months removed from live TV to Poppa Doc himself in the middle of the ring.

In response to Reply # 216

I've never seen a wrestler have notes written on their hand, let alone so blatant and in big black marker. There's no way that the first person I can ever remember having to do that was The Rock, and definitely no way that production wouldn't have done all they could to show him from a different angle, especially after the first glimpse.

They wanted us to see that

We'll see what direction WWE spins it when they recap the segment. So far on the website they haven't really been pushing that agenda, but if it isn't a work, they'll make it a work.

but i came to say that cenas promo was abt as dope a promo as ive ever heard him give.
i actually felt bad for rock.
im team cena, have been for a while.
the rocks shtick is boring to be honest.
and i love him.
but he kinda was wearing thin on me by the end of mania last yr.
me and my friends at the georgia dome expecting something to happen, and nothing.
next night he sets up the match at wm28.

it was lame.
rock is all talk.
and its worn thin.

anyway, that shit tonight tho makes me think either Vince is gonna bury the rock for good, and rock doesnt realize it.
or cena is gonna lose and turn heel immediately.

In response to Reply # 222

Road to Wrestlemania, The Rock on the show for the first time in awhile.....and a 3.1? Sad.

His promo was not very good either:...not gonna bring anyone back off the hype of that or anything. I was bored, sad to say. His comeback promo last year was way better. Hopefully things pick up in the coming weeks. If this angle doesn't get the casual fan interested and draw new viewers in, what will?

And just as an aside, that Jericho-Punk promo was great. Classic way to build interest in a big match right there. Jericho is damn near the GOAT at this shit now, it's just too bad a lot of his best material came post 2008, in an era with not a lot of viewers. They can talk about HHH-Taker being a battle of the last two left, but Jericho is really the last one left who has actually had something to offer in recent years. He's the only one who I can watch now and still gives that old school wrestling superstar vibe off.

...their hardon for ratings just baffles me.

I could write a 10,000 word essay on the dozens of reasons the WWE is out of touch with the public in 2012, but when I got to ratings it would seem too obvious a topic. I wouldn't even know where to begin.

227. "Ratings matter because of sponsors"
In response to Reply # 226

I'm with you that ratings are no longer a fair judge of what people are into or watching since you can access anything at anytime through a ton of different ways.

Sponsors however care about the Nielsen number because it is the only way to guarantee their commercials are being shown to viewers who don't change the channel. And since the most money comes from them, they still get catered to.

they really are. I guarantee in Cena merch alone they probably break 100 milli, and I have no basis for that other than my eyeballs.

229. "Well yes, but USA determines what to put on the air"
In response to Reply # 228

I'm not saying Raw is close to being pulled, but let's say WWE gets to a point where they openly say, yes TV ratings arent as important as they once were due to DVR, youtube etc...

Then ratings continue to fall and sponsors stop wanting to pay such a high price to advertise on a show nobody is watching live. The next step is USA saying: " we want our sponsorship money and we can make more of that with Monk reruns b/c their old fanbases don't use the internet"

It's tough situation because the TV network is really the one stuck in archaic ways of thinking, but they still control what gets put on the air so WWE still needs to pull in ratings that please them.

In response to Reply # 228

So there goes that theory.

And considering due to the Attitude Era and all of the negative connotations for pro wrestling that WWE only draws half of the sponsorship revenue for a channel that gets half of it's ratings, you better believe they care about ratings. If WWE was to somehow drop to a 2.0 consistently, USA would probably dump them. That campaign that the Media Research Center did a few years back did more damage to WWE and pro wrestling as a whole than a lot of people know.

2011 was the first year that WWE legitimately lost money for a year since pre-Attitude Era. Sure; they'll survive, and they have plenty of money, but business is clearly down.

See, WWE is a publicly traded company, which means all of their business is out in front street:
