>like, 100 million people could have told you that Trey Lance, >Will Levis, etc are NOT QB1 guys and never could be. > >i TRULY don't understand it. like, something about it almost >feels rigged/planned except i can't figure out why anyone >would do it. > >the first time i ever saw Trey Lance throw i was like "NOPE." >and as fans we don't even have the benefit of seeing these >guys in practice like they do.
The truth is often somewhere in between. But I'm with on SOME of these people being assclowns.
At best, the shit is hard and, at some point, you have to draft somebody, install systems around them, 'give them weapons, and hope they do at least their part to not screw it up: studying the playbook, being likeable to teammates, being coachable, working on weaknesses in the offseasons, and yes, not ackin a fool/drawing negative attention to the franchise.
At worst, they probably overcompensate for their misses AND yes, some of them are straight up idiots and/or hookup hires who don't work hard, understand the game, etcetera. IE: Russell Wilson was 'too small' or whatever and then he played mostly well for like a decade until last year's absurdity. From there, Several other 'too small' dudes got drafted and trusted to succeed similarly. But oops: no Beast, no Legion of Boom, no Pete, less *stuff that Russ has going for himself*, and you end up with Baker, Johnny, and others.
Other examples: Lamar Jackson, Pat Mahomes, Jalen Hurts, and...on the other end of the situation? Josh Rosen, Mitch Trubisky, etcetera. And hell, what is a team supposed to do with a Watson? A Cousins? A Dak?
And even with the 'good calls', there was hella doubters. Josh Allen. Cam. Herbert.
AND look what it took for Stafford to win a SB and people generally considered him to be awesome from the jump.
