"Bad basketball writer still waiting on Harrison Barnes to become a star"

I've never seen a role player have so much cover run for him. I wish Gerald Henderson coulda got drafted by a team that knew what they were doing and he coulda been the 5th best starter on a title team and I could act stupid pretending he was actually a STAR.

I WISH!

Dirk and Wes throwing shade his way seemed like the most interesting part of this "story." Although, I did love how the writer made a big thing about Harrison guarding the 3 and Wes Matthews being all excited he could guard SGs and then the next sentence is that Barnes was most effective as a small ball 4.

It's a really bad article though. Completely ignores the reality of the last six years. Nobody expects Barnes to be a star, let alone replace Dirk. You should be happy nobody wrote this about Gerald; sets up unreal expectations for Harrison.

Most harmful in terms of fewest win shares per minute per dollar. Applies to all players who play enough minutes.

His only real competition is going to be Rondo.

aka Jeff Green @ 15 million. I doubt he offers much of anything to that team.

I also wouldn't be stunned to see Evan Turner regress in Portland.

Jeff Green's inability to step up really hampered the Big Three as they got older. He offered nothing and then when everyone moved on, people actually believed (ala with Barnes to Dallas) NOW he'll be better. And then when he proved to be what he is, they'd move the line and say, "Well, nobody expected him to really be great." So frustrating.

His first playoffs with the Big Three actually made me sad. He was so pathetic and lost out there. Him playing basketball is like Jeb Bush running for President - they seem like kids whose dads are making them do it so they're just going through the motions, waiting for it to end.

Where he really stood out imo, especially in the later stages of his career, was his physicality and understanding of body positioning.

Anderson was more of a 2 guard than Barnes but similar athleticism and lack of attack mode to make it big. Anderson's UK teammate Ron Mercer might a better comp.

Still stand by what I said about his contribution to the small ball death squad system. He was a great fit for us guarding the other team's PF and as a rebounder

Dubs tried to fit him in as a pseudo-stretch 4, but he's just way too inconsistent from 3. Not a bad mid range shooter though if given the opportunity to take those shots

but yeah now? He's overpaid and probably going to play out of position

Well, he did but.....

http://board.okayplayer.com/okp.php?az=show_topic&forum=8&topic_id=2548567&mesg_id=2548567&listing_type=search#2548715

Ayo Barnes don't get the money
He still choking, paper chasing
Where max contract candidate's agent plotting wars with Dub nation
Give the dough to Mason
Stiff hip teen couldn't give work to Ohio Bobcats, face it
His brand's faceless
Play this by your hip
Let my words loosen it, you'll love it
I'll fry that ass 'cuz there was no one even there to "Glove" it
Tell him his dough's not here
Tell him he shoot with fear
Harrison was just pretending to be someone above his years
Duke fans is still hating
Talking that Barnes done fell off, no shining
One ring filled with diamonds
Dubs pray "please God let him make one shot in the finals"
What this overrated nerd was supposed to do for Tar Heels
Take 27 three's from behind the line and they're out of alignment
His assignment since game 7 Starks said retirement
Hiding behind Draymond and Thompson
Won't get rich but dies bombin'
This is overeliance
Now add 23 more, that's enough, there shouldn't be more
Jones wave that towel over heads
Barnes game on a free fall
Now that's 50 bricks put up at the same time
Bricky Barnes
Fans start to groan, shoulda watched Dem Thrones
His defender can start to roam
Dem bricks got all in his dome
The man left his jumper and his nuts at home
Jones ran all up on dude from out of bounds
More than McAdoo did last year for Dubs, it counts!
This is that 12th man shit that never affect the outcome
For scrubs that get booted out of low block position on foul shots
Bring back ML Carr
Towel waving was aborted
So Dahntay breathes life back into this episode
Let this man spaz in true Duke image
Fuck it, I'm Dukie V in Duke blue Tees at the eulogy throwing parties for Dahntay
Your box out ain't as hard as mine is
Fuck around and draw that over the back on Draymond
You don't know how hype my double fist pump leg kick combo is
Or how I stand in the corner tugging on my shorts like Longo did
I'm the same man that dunked on Virginia, did pushups of power
The same man that played for Devils now getting champagne showers!
