"can all of you please stop rhyming?"

im sorry friends but it bugs me
i don't want to respond to a lot of your poems because
well
they are not good
they are so elementary and heart less
too much mental and not enough feeling
just random drivel that rhymes
want me to show you?
okay i won't really flow too
ill just rhyme one or two
words together for you
ewww
i feel disgusted with myself for writing that
it has nothing, nothing worth reading at all
so okay.. you can rhyme a couple of words
but what are you truly feeling?
just write it down, don't over think it..
stop butchering art with this methodical approach to nothingness
what are you doing with your lives??? with your heart and your soul?
i don't care how many syllables you can toy in your meaningless plot, see i could have used the word ploy there.. to make a valid point but...
say something.. say something real...
please for the love of god.. just stop rhyming words to rhyme them for rhymes sake..
fucking say something already.
singed,
a jerk.

let's play ping pong ■

For you ...

Temporarily ...

I will "STOP RHYMING"...

I will wite about: This *Season* ... of food, fellowship, & family

Though, for some ... it is a time of sorrow

Being without loved ones ... or being without food ... or fellowship

For some ... This is a time for hiding

Moving deeper into depression

... Or getting deeper into debt ...

Or like those, living under bridges, just looking for a Food Bank handout ... a Goodwill or Salvation Army handout ...

...a warm meal, or a place to lay their head

I will ... TEMPORARILY ... stop rhyming ...

Just 4 U ...

Your request will be honored ... (FOR NOW) --- *Yes Sir*

I does this dillingently,
for every friend locked down between the borders now hustling for cash,
tek said stop rhyming, so i didnt use p,
i cant help it cause my lifestyle reflective of fiends,
educated dreams turned sour by the sundial,
corrupted by exposure to colder nights and colder days,
carry rocks slumped over my back,
jumped over hurdles with stilts if you know what i mean,
its hard not to rhyme if your me,
cause i managed to dabble with the words, and tackle a verse,
yet hold a message constant like C in intergration,
but be this ventilation an art form expression,
i does this cause i can, his my not so flamboyant confession..

this was some of the realest shit i have ever read on here... you are a talented individual.. without question.

>I does this dillingently,

from here
>i cant help it cause my lifestyle reflective of fiends,

to here. was pure emotion. well done. keep it up.. the flow in this is way better than any rhyming words... if its true expression as above.. it is art.. and this is exactly what you accomplished.. sometimes its importat to break out of the mold.. and get into the mothafucking fold. keep it up. first and foremost use your heart. peace fam.

I don't mean to sound like a hater, but you often come off as someone who thinks it's their role to be the judge around here----
Like earning Tek's respect is a gift in itself..

You are talented, which is why I peep your pieces here though
so like I said it's not hate..

but I don't write to impress anyone
and I think alot of people put their hearts out on these boards
(atleast I do)
You make valid points

but I'd still love to see a real freestyle battle with the mc's on this board
face to face, and see who comes out ontop
rhyming or not

Because I know that I'm much liver when I perform live
and alot of cats sit from home riding their high horses not knowing what's really good

It seems to me that this post is at the same time as coming off a lil bit cocky its attention needy---I don't have time to critique other people's work
ultimately I just look for the heart in it
everyone has to start somewhere

meh, im rambling

i know im big headed at times and really.. i get more hate than anything else.. and i didn't think what you wrote was hate but a genuine reaction to what i wrote. .and to me that is a good piece of art.. because it challenged you to reflect.. i guess that's all i really wanted to accomplish.

I agree with those who take offense to this post and the attitude behind it. I considered being the first to express that, but thought better of it. Comes a time to simply...grow up. Be constructive, truly respectful, kind...be an asset who uplifts and inspires, or really, you aren't relevant or useful at all.

You have always seemed to think that being abrasive and provocative makes you special...might you not want to reassess that and show us some growth, some maturity, some evolution that we can respect?

i honestly love it... this is going to sound even more pompous.. but all i really want to do is inspire some kind of emotion in someone.. i know there are some who share the sentiment in my poem and others who share your sentiment.. the truth is somewhere in between.. i don't see what is tact less or not respectful by being honest with people... yes.. the truth is that i do think some of the stuff posted on this board is just an activity of the mind.. i read poems and i wonder.. "who is this written for and why? why are there so many inconceivable sentences and impossible metaphors.. its difficult to respond because most of the time i fail to understand what the person is saying and often it just looks like it was done in order to rhyme some words together...

i think if you are going to write poetry you should respect it enough not to butcher it with cat and hat type philosophy. .and that's what makes me pompous i know that.. but what is an artist without an opinion or some passion? i really am just whatever i am.. and i seem to draw emotional reactions out of people.. and it is not intentional but as soon as im done writing something.. i am aware of the reaction it will produce and yet i am unapologetic because i didn't lie. shrug.... thanks for reading, peace!

now this has merit what u said here if nothing else it has provoked discussion and as it is here alot of work expressed on these boards slip by no reply (yes i meant to rhyme) and the work is often genious yet something like this speaks for itself. i mean even i at times wonder do i write in alien form there are those since i have written here have never responded to my knowledge yet almost expect to have their work hit up...in context learning to have appreciation for your own work no matter what form that is expressed is the ultimate lessom here cause surviving these folk aint easy if you need support. of course we have those that help everyone no matter what and they are priceless.

Exactly why I didnt take it personal though it does aim directly at anyone who rhymes, i saw it as something of shock value, when artists go for album names to rattle societies, that simple. I even showed it in my verse, 'tek said stop rhyming so i didnt use p, i cant help it cause my lifestyle reflective of fiends'.

yeah word this one was all for shock value.
I have a hard time believing that it was unintentional as Bartek asserts...

I think it's pretty obvious that the use of over generalizations from any judgemental stand point can only be for drawing attention and look how everyone worked hard to reply

lol

you guys are ultimately the one that the joke is on

i meant what i wrote. i respect and love poetry and lately.. i have been much more vocal with my opinion on what i don't like about certain art.. or what i call fluff. i didn't write this piece to get attention.. i wrote it to make a point, challenge people, and draw an emotional response about something they are passionate about. this piece worked for these reasons imo.. and that's why i call it art. i made a point that drew an emotional response. it was not done to piss people off and laugh at it.

Not really; there's tons of contradictory statements in your responses saying things about wanting to cause some sort of emotional reaction and then saying that you cause emotional reactions unintentionally, and then you say that you did it intentionally

no ones saying you were out to fuck with people
it's not even that heated in here
but I do think that in a way this is more of a discussion of why then how
as in why are people still peeping this

if you look at it through my eyes you'll see that in most ways I am adding to your perception, while at the same time I see how this topic tends to overgeneralize and I prefer the rugged raw of hitting up a cats poem like wtf you call this poetry rather than saying in an open ended letter some stuff like this

but you see what I'm saying
I could literally quote you again to respond to you saying I'm saying your trying to fuck with people
I'm more just laughing at how intense you are about your effect on people
it was all in the wording in this piece
as intentional/unintentional as it may be what matters more is like:

Do we really need to discuss this, or are you willing to ask questions and build on pieces as they are posted---- I prefer the style of Vet' tactics that I was used to when I started out

If you're wack the board laughs at you, gets at you, whatever
otherwise, if you just dont understand you ask what it's about

Otherwise it's kind of like a vacuum in here
I'm out

but then again, i wouldn't dare tell someone that they are just bad because i can understand how difficult it is for some people to just put words on paper, let alone build up the courage to throw it online.

i mean, it is what it is. i agree that poetry is and emotional beautiful thing that should be taken serious, but time helps mode the writer, not just one style.

i've hit this same diliema in spoken word when cats yell out rhymes and long, long, long converstation as claim it as poetry. dont get me wrong, some of it is nice, but poetry isnt a bunch of punchlines minus the beat. at least that's how i feel.

anyway, i applaud tek for trying to invoke some emotion to subside the tension and absence we have on the boards nowadays. you cant really hate the guy for trying.

I will stop rhyming.
I'm sorry for ruining the rhyming party.
I thought my "mad, bad, sad, had, dad" post was dope, but I guess I was being self-indulgent and mentally-masturbatory.

I know what I'll do! I 'll write a rambling, incoherent, disconnected piece of prose dissing the hard-crafted works of my colleagues... and THEN I'll pretend that it's artsy, and that I was trying to INSPIRE folks, when I really just wanted to PROVOKE folks to post more!

I'll be the bad guy... but shit... folks need a villain to provide balance, right?

Folks will love me! Folks will hate me! Folks will love to hate me! And most importantly, the Freestyle Board will be a community again!

If it takes me to fall on my sword to get you trifflin muthaphuckas to post again, then say hello to the bad guy!

Aw shit! You beat me to THAT as well, BarTek! You're a fuckin genius, BarTek! Are you sure you're not Kanye West in disguise?

I get it BarTek.

Thanks for being bold enough to jam your stick into the hornet's nest. I totally get it.
