"you know, those poet rebels...."

they make me sick...

i look at your clothes
your hair style
your jeans
your kicks and that coooooool t you think noone else has
and i go on
studying the nuances of the expression you know isn't yours
you have been spending too much time with that cool kid at school
that kid that
slangs those sweet words of revolution

you know what schoooooool you came from
sometimes you derivative is a derivative of some cognitive @#$@^^#@
who do you really think you are is what i want to know
i could list a whole bunch of revolutionaries
and none of them would match the ferocity of your brand name
what do revolutionaries wear anyway?

anyways, i made my point
and you're probably thinking
is he talking about me? or rather... us?
no..
for the love of you, i am not
you are my hope.. free poets... always be free
and forget the trends. and the way you think you are supposed to speak into the mic.
and do you. fuck they rules. fuck they scripts. fuck they scores.
and.
fuck they.
schools.

peace

I want to stay here.

It's a commentary on ultimately becoming what you despise... Revolution has become a brand name...

Yup, but it's worthwhile and beneficial in the end... as it helps you devise tangible ways to create change... btw, I spent 5 years in South Africa, love the country...

most poets i know were NERDS in school.

and some of them now try to cover it up with the Conscious Poet Gear (TM), available at all the Cool Kid Shops...because Che Guarava and Marvin Gaye aren't just iconic, they're DOPE on your tee.

And then some of us are like "fuck it" and watch zombie movies and read comics and write because we want to, not because it makes us cooler.

Revenge of the Nerds, baby, it's the New Conscious.

i respect and love that, but... what do you think about the concept of rebellion being sold to the masses as a way to.. fit in? i guess the merit of seeing che on a t is to go learn about him, but sometimes i think it has become more of a status symbol than anything that really draws from the intent in che's action... thanks for reading, welcome back.. peace

that's partially what i mean about some of these Poets...I don't think they're wearing the face of Che or whoever to raise awareness. I think they do it to raise their hipness factor.

I guess point being--nice drop, as it obviously got me all riled up (heh).

"You Sensitive Bastard", Rob Sturma's latest book of poems, is available directly from the author. It's a pretty book with a real ISBN number and everything.
