i tend to visit poetry/lyricist boards as a means to hopefully get sparked to write something, and i'm sure many (if not) most of you are just like me in that regard
and occasionally someone will post up like a general "cypher" thread or something free-flow non-specific...but
i'm wondering if maybe we could come up with some sort of constant feature of this board that will regularly present specific challenges and exercises to spark us
i know we did that topic tournament once, but while its a great bonus, its not a regular thing and eliminates folks round by round, so people can't constantly just circulate with it
but i don't really like the vibe there. very snobbish and restricting (for instance, they will delete any poetry with improper grammar LOL)
i like the vibe here
so i'm making this thread so we can come together and brainstorm some kind of way to feature this spark-generation as a constant.
i'll start: my first idea is maybe have a weekly anchored "challenge", and everyone comes and drops their version. we could leave the judging to figure skating and appreciate all or we could rate each other on some creative okayscale, but the goal would just be to provide spark anyway. every week, someone is chosen (randomly??) to provide next week's anchored challenge.
that's just the first thing that came to mind. would love to hear what you guys and gals think.

youre right about that site, hard to breath in there, and your idea is totally decent. how bout "what's foul and why".
Not tryin ya best just settlin' comin up wit reasons someone else is so much betta than believin what ya told instead of reapin' what ya sewed we're all so much better than that but we're constantly measurin' like havin' somethin' shiny could eliminate darkness like lovin' ya own people makes you less than heartless if only your own people are safe from you and even they aint really safe from you aint nuthin u can undo only new actions mean anything but only if u choose to

...i like that. 1st 2 lines above are some nice imagery, the next 2 lines are unusually insightful - you don't hear that point made very often
ok so, before we start dropping challenges though, we need to establish a concrete/permanent concept of how this feature will run/work (co-signed by mods)

the feature is called "Weekly Special"
thread title: "Weekly Special: name of special"
inside the post will be a description of the challenge, including the name of whomever came up with it (unless they ask to remain anonymous).
the Weekly Specials will change over the weekends.
to keep up the element of surprise, i'm thinking concepts could be PMed to me or one of the other head honchos, which brings me to:
I'd love to get at least 1 or 2 cats to start out being my partners in facilitating this.
also, we could have a second thread (whether this one is anchored or not would be left to the wisdom of the mods) where everyone can some in and drop any number of concepts/challenges they'd like to see someone try. and then folks can drop their poetic responses right there. we could call that thread "The Idea Exchange"
