"A Prayer"

Peel away the hard layers of my heart
and write on them the deeds that hardened it

leave it renewed and clean
like an open wound

take away the lump in my throat
so that i can speak true feelings
and cry real tears

instill love and fear in my being
so that i can live once again

Amen
