I guess the best days are behind us Only old photographs, letters and yearbooks are all we have to remind us Decade old VHS tapes rewinds us... Back to when summers crayon ink was nice and neat / the time when it was wrong to cheat A flashback when things weren't left so incomplete Growing and knowing is bitter sweet Doodling on loose leaf sheets I reflect on these cold streets That didn't seem so bad walking through 'em as a lad We didn't have much, but we were glad My thoughts go deeper than waves in the ocean Hold this load of emotions Within my skin In actuality....it's no difference between now and then Only perception My birds eye view helps me keep the mighty pen on point & cue Makin it "do what it do" at this profession Forward progression is the direction this ship is headed Even though my mind stays "locked" like a head that dreaded Look forward Joe...
