If you come from this land You are automatically grounded
This place we were raised in Cultivated our imaginations Brought our intuition into fruition
Yet she worries me We eat her habitats so hurriedly
And if you must make a comparison Are you more a Tecumseh Or a Henry Harrison?

This will be part of a cover story in a local weekly paper here in Indianapolis called intake (www.intakeweekly.com) where five writers were asked to answer the question "What is Indiana?" in twenty to fifty words (short!). Our words were then sent to different graphic design firms here in town, where they will do full page layouts of the work to be published. I won't get to see it 'til it hits the stands on Nov. 30th, but I'll give a direct link in this post.
Now it's your turn. Write about your state in fifty words or less. Put the state's (or province or whatever they got where you're at) in the subject line. Let's see how many places we can get.
"I've come to realise that I never loved Hip-Hop as a whole, just a particular era that happened at the same time as I was actively checking actively for new music."

Congratulations!

So the story came out and it was a cover story, and it actually turned out pretty dope. Has a circulation of 75,000-100,000.
I'm going to contact the designer, Amy Mcadams, and try to do a collaborative illustrated poetry book project with her. If you follow the www.intakeweekly.com link, for the next week you can find the work in one of the three stories scrolling on that main box. It's the one with the pic of the hands typing. The resolution is kind of booty, but you can zoom.
