Martin Luther King said let freedom ring.
So tell me where does this freedom ring?
From the top of welfare offices dispensing hush money to the masses?
From schools where our little brothers and sisters are undereducated in overcrowded classes?
Or maybe through run down street corners but every day a government official passes?
It can’t ring from a White House bent on oppression covered up with barely legal “Terrorist Investigations”?
How far have we advanced as a nation that still practices discrimination and legal segregations?
It looks to me freedom still hangs its head low.
From the sight of people that try their hardest to make it out the ghetto.
And hard-line Republicans that instead of giving a helping hand have all but let go.
From a government more concerned with whether I deserve the right to marry whomever I love than with finding realistic ways to rid my neighborhood of crime and drugs.
A government so slow to respond when Katrina happened because a hurricane can’t be construed into terrorists attacking…
So can someone please tell me where exactly does freedom ring?
