As we all know, this place pretty much sucks lately. Its been dead for some time, and a far cry from what it once was.....but as live it moves in waves.... this is not the 1st slow/dull period this board has seen... but it has gone long enough and its time to bring this place back.

So.... what can we do to turn this place around?

I plan to start by returning....(I took a hiatus from this place, it was more depressing than anything)


Suggestions? What can we do? What can I as a Mod do?

To be honest. It was already sputtering but when she stopped posting; alot of that positive energy subsided. A couple people still contribute that I read, like Mindful or the_best_part...Empro or Zin. But for the most part I think errybody prolly just takin a summer vacay. I think another Freestyle Photo post would do wonders though. The catch is, only Freestyle fees can post up, and it has to be pictures of their feet. If you got ugly feet however, nevermind. Sike, lol. Unless yall wanna do that. And there ain't been no e-beef either. Which provided plenty entertainment and got people chimin in and postin. Bleh, this dead period shall pass. All it is, is ebb and flow.

but the constant references to photo's absence is pretty much a direct diss to those of us that are still around.

but its all good. there's plenty of activity on this board, just not much interaction. peeps post up but comments/reads are low. posting pics are cool, but id like to see some literature floating around, yanno, some 'freestyles' and such. maybe it is just the season. ay, are some writers seasonal?

In no way shape or form did that come off as disrespect to any poster. It simply means that Photo brought a certain quality to the board. She consistently upped EVERYBODY post, gave suggestions and comments, and welcomed newcomers. Even if they was hot garbage. She always didn't get along with everybody, no, but that's just real life. Can't please everybody. It is what it is. When she stopped posting, the board lost a certain feel to it. I'm just bein real. Agree or disagree, it's whatever. Because that don't mean excelent work still ain't bein put on here. And no I ain't bein confrontational, so don't hit me with the sasafrass rebuttal. Or we will have problems. lol Jokes my nig.

This places moves in cycles and people do have life outside of the boards. This slow ass period shall pass like it always does and it seems some familiar faces, or maybe just familiar faces to me have dropped some pieces of late.

A while back. I came back as a new screen name this time... But the reason I started lookin for other boards was cuz Freestyle was juss... Man, a years ago I would embrace that poetic ish. I still respect it, but I ain't feelin it. And I dunno who it was but sum1 posted sumthin bout "If you're weak why you an MC?" n people started attackin him. I agree n KNOW he was tryna start ish up, but you/we/Freestyle couldn't handle a challenge...

Freestyle juss don't appeal 2a me that much, besides tha "Welcome" atmosphere. But I think quality might have 2a do with it 2. There's juss no flash, 2 me.

I like the idea of some battles. Nothing inspires people like other people (imo). By the way, I'm new here. Hello. Just stopped by to get a few things off my mind (I will try and avoid negative styles, but I always have more to say when my emotions are pushed to the limit, ya know? I don't want to be responsible for KnowOne walking away). Maybe I arrived at a good time and can be witness to this revolution that's about to begin.

I have no complaints about this board.

Moving towards positive change is admirable, maybe even neccessary, but I wouldn't "Pimp my Ride" just yet. We still got some pretty good mileage left. I suggest that everyone just be themselves and contribute as they see fit. I've never been one for forcing the issue.

As far as pieces go, I've been writing more blog work so the creative pen hasn't flowed in a minute. I come through, up pieces, read work but I'm always open to ideas you all have for us. This board is ours ya'll. If it lulls it's because we're not sharing with each other. We're not building the community up as much. There are a lot of new writers here, but not a lot of them are posting. They hit up the welcome thread, but no posts...

The Veterans are here, as well as the new writers. We should be getting to know each other...


With that said (I hope you're cool with this K) I have read the comments and *cracks knuckles* as of May 2008, the Artists of The Month will return. There's a rule this time (lol), Know One and I will choose the artist. We will let you know a week in advance via inbox, (so check ya boxes). You can add as many pieces to your thread as you want. Please comment, whether a critique, a shoutout or an "it moved me" blurb. People love to share, but love to hear from those who have read at the same time.

There will be a battle tourney also starting in may. Inbox either Know One or me so we can have the names.

We need 12 emcees!!! We will bracket them (like NCAA) each week for the month of May we will thread one "regional battle (4 emcees giong at it) each week we will have two winners.

In june, the first week will feature the winners of round 1 going at it. Second week, second round etc. July we will have the semis and finals! So yeah... step ya game up! Winners will be chosen from the board so no playing favorites.

If you are a photog freestyler, inbox Me. If I have enough artists willing, I will thread a photog showcase. Poets/emcees can respond in those threads with comments, critiques, or pieces evoked from the feeling the photos give off. I'm going to post this reply again and anchor it so folk can see.

The irony is that the issues we had 2 years ago on this board with heads sleepin' and having lazy eyes (non~responsive/non~participatory) -- were beginning to repeat itself with the same history ...

There were promises & motivational incentives made -- (like New Year's Resolutions) -- So I wanted folks to recognize and see the NEED for refocusing and re~Energizing the board.
