I didn't see another post about it. But if there is one, I really don't care.
Honestly, this may be one of my favorite movies of all time. IDGAF if it's my Bay Area bias, but it's true. This is right up there for me with Goodfellas, Godfather, the O.G. Star Wars movies, and Midnight Run.
It was awesome seeing it in the theater. I saw it at the legendary Grand Lake Theater (featured prominently in the film), on screen #4 (one of the smaller side screens), on a Saturday night. That was the perfect setting. I should have snuck in a bottle of Boone's Farm or E&J on some old school shit. And even after weeks of being out, there was still a decent-sized audience. It's definitely a crowd-pleasing flick.
However, since it got zero distribution and made zero money, I'm aware that it'll be basically impossible to find in a theater outside of the Bay. Fortunately, it's also the type of movie that plays great watching it at 1 a.m. on a Friday when you're stoned. Which is why I already ordered it on Blu-Ray (which is packaged to look like a VHS tape).
For those of you who don't want to go that route, I believe it's available on VOD through Amazon or Apple TV. Trust, you've spent $10 on worse shit.
For those who care about the plot, it's four inter-connected short stories, all taking place in 1987 right before and immediately after Game 4 of the Warriors/Lakers west conference semi-finals.
There's definitely quite a few "What the fuck am I watching?" scenes, but it still kicks all type of ass. This will end up a cult favorite for years out here. And everyone else should enjoy it. Especially if you want to root for the underdog.
20 out 10. A++++++++++++++++++++++++ -----------------
