5. "Enjoyable, but a bit of a letdown compared to the first two" In response to Reply # 0
Didn’t really see the value in hiding the villain’s face/adding in the Night Stalker element when it was pretty clear who the villain was imo. In fact, would have preferred more dialogue with that character. The big insane speech at the end felt like such a weird tone shift.
Third act was a mess, but Mia and Kevin Bacon kept this entertaining throughout. Hope Ti West ends the series here.
After rewatching the first 2 in theaters before this one released (hadn’t seen X on the big screen prior) X is my favorite now, with Pearl a close second. I love how both are slashers that wait quite a while before giving you the kills, animals notwithstanding. Also the most tense and uncomfortable scene (Pearl getting in bed with Maxine) doesn’t even involve violence. Pretty impressive.
