Literally. Took my breath away multiple times while watching it.
instantly my favorite from Ava.
her Direction here deserves EVERY award.
The deft & gentle & strong & sure & artistic hand at the crafting of the storytelling here left me in awe...its so engaging and moving and, yes, entertaining as a theatrical experience. Thats an impressive feat imo, considering the denseness & context of the source content that inspired it.
Dont even get me started on all of the acting performances within. lawd!

So well written and directed and acted.
Its probably the most important film of the last decade (as is the book). It should be required viewing in schools and universities.
It made me want to buy the hard copy of the book...especially in light of how physical books have been likened to 'contraband' in certain places. Like i want to have these words present in the physical world and not just read them online...

yeah...i think it should indeed be shown in schools, universities, libraries, churches, etc...wherEVER....for all of the obvious reasons.
Im still Astonished at how much knowledge & history this film contained, yet how AMAZINGLY entertaining & riveting the narrative delivering it all was. For that feat, it really deserves ALL the awards for Direction, Screenplay Adaption, Acting...etc. Imo its a legit masterpiece.

...really, its worth it imo... And, yeah, to be honest, i personally just want it to do well. Not because i have any vested interest in it (i dont, lol, im just some dude), but i just think that its one of those kinda films that EVERYONE should see once at some point.
Yeah, i know it will likely be 'streaming' again at some point, and yes i HOPE it gets a 'nice physical release on disc' at some point too (can a brother dream of a Criterion 'Origin' release?)...BUT, both of those scenarios aside, 'Origin' is a GORGEOUS film, and is really worthy of being seen on a big theater screen. Its a special one imo.

I am loving how this movie is displaying the depths of grief in a Black womans attempt to get to the intellectual and emotional core of dehumanization.
