"Three Thousand Years of Longing (George Miller, 2022)"

I loved this!

A parable on the concept of love and human nature itself as told through a fairy tale as only George Miller could.

Glad he gets to make things like this in-between Mad Max movies.

Idris Elba and Tilda Swinton kill this.

Hope to catch this again in Dolby Atmos as the sound design is amazing.

Everyone is gonna hate this. And I understand as this is NOT gonna be everyone's cup of tea.

When it's just Elba and Swinton telling stories, and us seeing the stories as they're told? Could've watched that forever. Elba in particular is doing really interesting stuff to make this genie character real.

I liked it notably less once they left the hotel. Like, I get what he's going for, and it definitely feels novelistic and thoughtful (even if it's not exactly how the book ends or whatever, I've no clue on that front)... but it just can't match how awesome everything in the hotel is. So it feels like a relative letdown.

But yeah, Miller's incapable of making a boring movie.

I was expecting more in the fantasy realm, but overall i thought it was very well done.
