"Thirteen Lives (Ron Howard, 2022, Amazon Prime)"

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R068Si4eb3Y

i'm not big on amazon prime but this has got to be one of the best flicks to come out of there.

ron howard still got it.

colin farrell, viggo mortensen, and the rest of the cast acted their ass off.

i didn't realize the scale and complexity of the operation to rescue the boys and their coach.

i remember when elon musk (being the attention whore he is) said he was gonna fly a mini submarine down there and everyone basically told him to stfu because it wouldnt fit lol. elon musk called one of the divers who criticized his plan a pedophile lol. (thankfully none of that shit is in the movie lol).

anyway...definitely worth a watch. heavy and suspenseful in a way only a true movie maker like ron howard could effectively carry out.

He needs to stay away from movies that require any sort of edginess, like Star Wars, but i loved this movie and Cinderella Man & Beautiful Mind are two of my all time favorites. He makes a great sappy entertaining film. This was really good.

Even though it's a long movie, the storytelling is very tightly crafted. Not a moment that I can recall thinking "they probably added that for dramatic purposes." Not that they didn't add things for dramatic purposes, but if so it didn't stick out like a sore thumb. No speeches, no one depicted as outright villainous or even an obstructing naysayer to give the movie a bad guy to root against.

I'm embarrassed I followed this story so lackadaisically when it was happening, but it made for a more thrilling viewing experience.

Trying to think of all his movies, but might be my favorite Ron Howard movie. Okay, I just checked and yeah, probably beats out Cinderella Man and Apollo 13.

It's a National Geographic documentary. You can find it on Disney+ and some of the other streaming service apps.

"Oh geez..."

At least those creatures from The Descent didn't ever show up. Or the cave sharks from some movie I fast forwarded through on Hulu a while back.

i wish someone warned me about getting claustrophobic watching this shit. But I cant imagine a 6 hour dive in the open water, let alone in that shit. Really good watch.
