"The Old Man (Hulu)"

Hulu got one, I’m all in after one ep.

Bridges letting it be known Neesons (c) ain’t the only old head out here. Lithgow good…

*spoiler*

Direction good too (that first intruder scene!).

The action is great and the way they're painting Dan Chase/Johnny, the old man is not to be fucked with.

It feels written really well which helps the acting just that much more. I'm compelled by these two men and their connection/conflict. The stuff with Bridge's wife/daughter and Lithgow and his own daughter, you just see the pain in these two men.

All the acting is superb.

when she jumped on the phone, i was like that's Maeby's voice lol.

i thought about it before but blew it off. there was also a point where i thought Lithgow was gonna be next to her. like if he had been talking to Bridges, and had to put her on the phone because Bridges was pretending Lithgow was Emily.

I'm appreaciting the simplicity of this show. with episode 2 i was kind of questioning how much of this is reality and how much is in his head. i don't think they're going that route which is a good thing.

I was to busy being engaged in the conversations. though with the reveal, is that really his daughter? I'm thinking its not and that's why the Afghan dude is after him. He wants to know where his wife and child are.

i think its definitely on the table that maybe she took off with him when she was preggers with Karzai's kid, and Bridges raised her as his own. It would make more sense than this just being over he ran off with my wife

the only thing that may throw it off is her age, she seems like they ran first then started a family but who knows.

also, she seemingly had some relationship with Harper's son???

>the only thing that may throw it off is her age, she seems

Naw the Age would be on point depending on when they fled Afghanistan. The Soviets pulled out from 1988-89 so her age would line up for the most part. The mom could've been in the first tri when they left. So it's completely plausible.

>also, she seemingly had some relationship with Harper's
>son???
>
Well, Harper explained the relationship with her. He got her out of some trouble when she first started in the FBI and from there he brought her under his wing. So I wouldn't be surprised that she had a close relationship with Harper's family. To be honest it's probably all a part of her learning about her dad and his history. It's a great way to keep tabs on harper and make sure they're never found.

This is a slow burn and the pacing is trying to tell us a bigger picture. It'll all come together in Morroco with some big bang and then a nice neat ending.

I'm just enjoying this because it's good tv.

pretty much snoozeville since they fled from zoes crib.

all of the afghanistan scenes are uninteresting.

id much rather just hear people talk briefly about what happened over there then watching the full flashbacks.

they shit away so much dope action for slow monotonous plot development. and the dogs smh. basically abandoned the best aspects of the show that everyone was talking about.

one more episode to go. im honestly not even that motivated to watch it outside of just wanting to finish the season.

Zoey being anywhere near the real action is so completely and obviously ridiculous. Truly should have been a single episode guest.

Angela/Emily/Maeby/whatever is a complete drag and her big entitlement energy (along with anyone near her going along with it) is completely nonsensical. Like, ruins-my-suspension-of-disbelief absurd.

Had a spark when it started but now it's just garbage.

just for that weak ass car chase scene.

the previews before this episode and the original trailer made those scenes of him shooting out the jeep seem like they were about to be lit. dude unloaded like 4 shots total and ended the whole thing lol.

they even threw in some flashbacks and a meaningless dream sequence for good measure to add to the monotony.

did they switch writers during the pandemic or something? this was setting up to be arguably the best show running right now. then went in an almost entirely different direction/style.

and i think we all saw that 'twist' coming from a mile away. at least when they started mentioning the plane passenger seating manifest.

They stated they almost didn't finish the show. They probably had to pivot somewhat, but I still think this series wasn't supposed to be some action shit.

It's a good spy drama with some action, not geriatric John Wick. You want the rough action, I'd suggest watching the Terminal List.

i can't lie, it's a bit of a let down though.

the flashbacks were mehh to me, it just felt like a lesser show whenever they went back.
Bridges with his dogs even in mundane moments was infinitely more fun to watch than Bridges and Brenneman, who felt like just an extended version of Edie from Heat.
All the reveals were obvious, even though i don't think they were trying to make them anything shocking.

it was definitely enough to give s2 a shot. I'd like to see what they can do without the limitations.
