"Snowfall FX (Season 5)"
Thu Feb-24-22 09:34 AM by JiggysMyDayJob

Aka what dumb shit is Franklin going to do now.

Let's GO!

That Len Bias intro was something, gotta say how they're bringing all this real life stuff together. Growing up in South Central during the entire crack era and watching this show has been a painful but entertaining trip down memory lane. Now we're really getting into the meat with C.R.A.S.H. units and gang warfare.

So far I hope my dude Leon makes and I think this might be the end of Louie and Jerome's story though.

Teddy's ass, man that dude is on a mission and Franklin knows he can't do shit about Alton getting bodied by dude.

But still interesting first to episodes.

RIP to Rob, caught a body last season and everything. If not for him Franklin wouldn't even be in the game. You could tell taking out Rob even affected Peaches.

Also where in the hell did Franklin's new girl come from, we gotta get answers on this time jump. I don't like her, she doesn't fit whom I'd expect Franklin to settle down with.

Lastly, Teddy man...that boy is either for his broken cause or trying to stay in the game to keep himself alive. That disguise he was wearing when he met Grady was silly as fuck tho.

I take it Franklin wasn't planning to kill Rob until Thad dropped the "Just have your CIA guy fix it".
At that point, franklin knew Rob's not only a junkie out here running his mouth out, but running his mouth to guys like Thad.
In addition to him turning into a fiend, and he saw what happened to Melanie. I think he was serious about rehabbing him but that quick piece of intel put him over the edge.

Sometimes I forget how dumb Franklin was the first couple seasons, which is when i assume he told Rob about Reed.

Yeah i don't like this addition either. It's not shocking or anything since some time has passed, but it feels kinda shoehorned, and she feels like she's a 30 something in how she carries herself. But i would push back that maybe she does fit who Franklin wants to believe he's becoming. He's on that Stringer Bell right now.
Leon has a much better grasp on reality and who he is right now than Franklin

Grady out here partying and skimming but it's funny how Teddy is the "responsible" one given what his mission is.

I like the addition of the CRASH cop

Yea he was going to clean him up at first but once homie dropped the Reed shit it was a wrap. I would've expected him to dead the fiend than Rob though. He could've got Rob cleaned up I believe and put Thad away. I mean he still don't know who Rob was running his mouth too.

Frankling was really dumb the first couple season and he's still is in someway because at a certain point folks in your organization gonna be look at you like "This dude might kill me any day". That's what I got from Peaches. I just think there was another way, but Frankin is on monster shit right now.

>Yeah i don't like this addition either. It's not shocking or

So I'm not alone thinking his girl looks like she 30 something. Thank god, but still you letting her know about the game but keeping sly on the Real Estate. I don't get it.

Leon's always been better at knowing who he is and what is going on. He's never really lived in a fantasy about what could be, he's alway been about what it is. Back in S3 when he told him that Melanie was lost to the pipe and Franklin tried to say it was different than Wanda. Leon will forever be a G, I'm sure he's going to die but he'll die on his feet knowing who he is.

>Grady out here partying and skimming but it's funny how Teddy
>is the "responsible" one given what his mission is.

I liked the little of Grady we got and in all seriousness him skimming is light compared to the shit Teddy had been doing. Teddy was just mad cause Grady made the quip about his fine ass wife. He doesn't like hearing the truth about himself, just like when his dad called after his brother died.

I mean how bad was Grady if Gustavo even liked him. Teddy is just a broken dude evil dude hiding behind the mission as a way to be who he is.

>I like the addition of the CRASH cop
He's going to be interesting, I like the actor so I hope he plays this well. I am curious to see how crooked he'll be and if this is the start of some Rampart like stuff from the police angle

Yeah, as soon as Rob said that and then Franklin gave him that look, I knew he was dead. Plus him being on the rock absolutely sealed it.

I actually thought Franklin was going to have Peaches kill him when they stopped to piss and give Rob a gun. But it was broad daylight and the highway was right there.

i thought the same at first but if that was the case they could have just killed him before. During that stop, they still needed him to find Thad.

The fact that he insisted on Rob pulling the trigger made me think his days were numbered but I missed Thad saying that and Franklin's reaction.

I don't think he was dumb, he was just green as fuck. When they first pulled over for Rob to practice shooting, I recalled how inexperienced he and Lee were when they had to shoot that big dude and how far they've come.

I'm a bit disappointed that Franklin hasn't tried getting intel from the time he first met "Reed." Teddy has pretty much always had a lot of leeway but I always figured he was in "if shit goes sideways we do NOT know you." It's the illusion he's created that green Franklin definitely would buy in to, but over time, I'd have thought the chessplayer Franklin would have done his homework on him.

It SEEMS like he's at that point, but it's also at a time when Teddy will see it coming...

Teddy gotta go, dude is exactly what Grady called him. He's a true believer for a lost cause. Franklin gotta dead him or something cause he's going to find out he killed Alton and the way Teddy is acting he's back to his season 1/2 dangerous levels.

Leon was smart keeping Wanda away, I wish he would've just said, leave the state and I'll set you up anywhere you want. She's obviously on the good path but its hard.

Cissy is out here trying to play checkers when Teddy plays chess; I'm not sure her plan will work out for her.

Jerome, my man, you're going to have to make a choice now between Louie and Franklin.

It was nice seeing Leon get militant; I not sure if that's going to make him change from his gangster ways.

I'm also loving sage Javi; my man knows the secret to make it in this dirty world they're all living. Hopefully, someone listens.

And fuck that CRASH unit cop. He has to go down.

i'm with Cissy, she rubs me the wrong way but idk if she's some kind of fed. unless she's not actually preggers that's some pretty deep cover lol. Mostly i feel like, did we really need to give Franklin a Skylar White?

>Cissy is out here trying to play checkers when Teddy plays
>chess; I'm not sure her plan will work out for her.

Who's this hitter she hired? And who could she hire possibly skilled enough for Teddy?

>Jerome, my man, you're going to have to make a choice now between >Louie and Franklin.

Jerome was pretty into that mix tape lol

it is but he's talking all this uplift my people shit, and he still sells rock, but he draws the line at going to dinner?

I'm glad Cissy kind of talked sense into him since Avi couldn't. Talk about playing checkers. You're gonna go to war (toe to toe) with the LAPD? pretty obvious how that's gonna play out.

>And fuck that CRASH unit cop. He has to go down.

dude's a good villain.

It does feel like she's the Skylar of this shit now, but at the same time acting like she's with the shits. It just doesn't seem right, I threw out DEA because it's all I could think of. But something about her just isn't right.

>Who's this hitter she hired? And who could she hire possibly
>skilled enough for Teddy?
I dunno, I figured it was a contact from Cuba or something. I mean how skilled does he have to be if the hitter just goes in blasting.

But based on the convo with the dude I figured he was a hitter she's getting to take out Teddy. Unless he's part of an exit plan she's putting together for Franklin.

>Jerome was pretty into that mix tape lol
Those raps were ass, but I'd rather enjoy Jerome turning into a Suge or Top Dawg type character. Moving from the crack game to the rap game.

>it is but he's talking all this uplift my people shit, and he
>still sells rock, but he draws the line at going to dinner?
I've run into so many Leon's though, they'll be militant as shit but still about that life. It's like a 5% that still pushes crack in the hood.

>I'm glad Cissy kind of talked sense into him since Avi

Cissy really feels like the mom he wish he could've had so her words have weight vs Avi who he see's is in the game like him.

Great villain and the actor plays it well. I just hate the character because fuck the CRASH unit and what it did to the hood for 20 plus years. I'm still trying to understand his ties to Louie, because it seemed like in the last episode he might have been from where she came from or something.

i think it's more that Teddy is always a step ahead. he probably already has eyes on Cissy.

Also, i think they are kind of setting us up with big reveal that Alton isn't dead. It seems kind of obvious and i hope I'm wrong. Mainly because it would make zero sense if he's still alive.

Ahh i didn't even see that, even though it was right there. I was trying to figure out why he kept playing it. But makes sense for Jammin Jerome to become Big U.

I remember them well, man. I don't really have any crazy stories other than they were assholes 100% of the time. their favorite thing to tell us was that they considered 3 or more people together a gang lol.

I'm still trying to understand his

any theories on who this was?

Peaches is the obvious choice. He called in sick ala Paulie in the godfather, but could it be Franklin's girl, Skylar Black?

I swear someone said the same thing on there. I doubt it's Peaches, I think he got the HIV so he may be going away soon. I'm pretty sure I know who it is because there was a leak prior to the start of the season. I just need to wait til the next ep to confirm, but it's someone that's on the inside but not really on the inside.

I'll take him in anything fr, he's still Dewey Cox's dad to me. But you're right about the one hold out on the all-Mexican block. Reminds me of old Frog Town and Highland Park in the '90s.

I’ve thought this since near the beginning of the season. He was sick during the first two episodes (constantly complaining about his “allergies”) and then I think it was last episode where he was talking to Franklin about being sick when they were at the stash house (Franklin then refuses to give him dap).

Plus, I this ep the nurse made as allusion to HIV (“Can’t be too careful around blood”), so it won’t seem completely out of left field when Jerome confronts him next episode.

we got a trojan horse sending shooters at the Saints and Franklin tryna make a journey back home. Very on the nose but ok.

I wasn't mad at the episode but I can do without all the whimsy of being thrown in a tiger cage

The "trying to get home" part is the Odyssey, not the Iliad tho. That part bugged me.

I thought in general it effectively follows the premise of how quickly shit can go sour in the drug game. But I also definitely could have done without the tiger.

This the same show where Jerome beat the breaks off Franklin and he kept getting up.

But his father hit him in the back of the neck and he was knocked out for a whole 2 hours lol.

I though last season was borderline Power-ish. This season IMO is already way better than the last one. But oddly enough, throwing in a random tiger seems on brand for this show.

Man, that was too funny, the CGI is what killed me. First Oso kicks the gate and Raylan's daddy gets eaten up. This followed by Franklin grabbing the keys, which I was like ok that was an easy way to write yourself out of a corner. But then, he goes back and the tiger just so happens to want to dine on ese instead of him?! like he only likes white and brown meat.

>I like the addition of Kevs big bro as the new big bad and all

Yea that was the big reveal I was talking about from the last episode. He seems like a bigger threat to the Saint crew. I mean Skully had the same beef but he's a loon so it wasn't as scary, Kane is more calculated and you can tell he's an OG by all the old heads around him.

Still, I can't believe that Peaches was in on it, he gotta have HIV. I just can't justify how a man that just 4 episodes ago said "I'd rather be alive than rich." I still think Kane has someone on the inside at Louie's club that's overhearing stuff.

I think Franklin's girl is going to leave him in the end, I thought she would end up being Fed or dead, but I think she's just going to leave cause she's not trying to be about that life anymore with a baby.

Jerome coming through with the comedic lines once again, "Teach ya man some squabbles!"

Avi, man I love Avi more and more each season. The dude is a true soldier like he said and keeps dropping knowledge bombs that no one wants to listen to. I hope he makes it to the end of the series alive.

That Persian doctor wants in on the action with Teddy which I feel is going to lead to some real trouble. She's crazy and got the hots for Teddy, will be interesting to see how he navigates that.

Peaches is too obvious at this point and Kane kind of chuckled at Franklin thinking he had it figured out, like fuck it, let this dummy kill one of his best guys who ain't even the mole.

I don't think it's just someone out of the club because that's wayy too much info knowing where everyone was. I thought Franklin's girl made a comment about one of the drivers that hit his radar for a second, but looks like that was more about her leaving.

I mean this season isn't, especially after how good last season was with the Franklin vs Manboy vs Skully thing. It's like after season 3 of SOA, everything just got even more cartoonish. I mean most of the FX shows like this with the exception of The Bridge and Mr. Inbetween get to cartoonish levels at some point.

>Peaches is too obvious at this point and Kane kind of chuckled

Yea I did pick that up and by the preview, for the next episode it looked like Jerome busted into a crack house and maybe he finds Peaches there. either way, it'll be interesting to see who's giving out info.

Yea, I still think she leaves or something happens to her. I mean even with her background she's a lawyer so it's obvious she's been trying to be on the straight and narrow. But she could stay and next season we get her Scammer mom coming back to rip them off.

Jerome once again with the line of the week "Niiga I AM THE GAME!"

Teddy working on an exit strategy with the crazy Persian chick.

Franklin needs a Will Smith slap after talking to his mom like that.

Louie is about to start a war between her and Franklin and from the looks of it Jerome going to end up dead by the season's end.

MVP of the episode was Leon speaking with Kane. Btw Devaughn Nixon is everywhere all of the sudden and killing it.

Louie will make it, if the characters are patterned after real people then Louie is supposed to be Jermeker Thompson then Jerome is going to die. This sets up the last season as a Franklin vs Louie season with her more than likely going to the Colombians for her connect.

Usually when someone talks about how they're trying to get out of the game, that means they're dead sooner rather than later.

I imagine Louie paying the crooked cop to kill Norm Nixon is going to go sideways and eventually end up with Jerome dying.

..This might be the 1st ep of the show without a homicide. At the same time, quite possibly the heaviest dialogue so far.

Skulls is the MVP this episode getting everyone drugged up. Don’t eat them chocolate strawberries ever!

The convo between young and old Franklin, whew. Bodies,Bodies, Bodies….

Jerome is def gone after this.

Louie really messed up with that bitches hit on Kane, now he’s going to be after her and possibly Franklin after Veronique came to visit before.

Shouts to Oso and Avi I with the swag suits.

I’m not sure if Teddy is looking to keep Franklin under his thumb or trying to put together his exit plan after this episode. But I am loving this crazy ass Iranian chick.

I’ll probably come back and comment a little later today.

I know this is supposed to be the Tony Soprano fever dream episode, but to me it was just a filler episode. The last 10 minutes we got the death kiss from Louie and some movement with Teddy and Franklin. The rest of that shit I had in on in the background for the most part.

Don't know why somebody as scary as Veronique decides to have a sit down with Kane out of nowhere. If she does wind up being the police it's not gonna shock anybody watching the show.

I wasn't all that moved by Franklin's war within himself. I ain't saying it was a bad performance, but I don't think it was some must see shit either.

And still not buying Kane as an actual threat. If he dies next episode, I don't see how it'll affect business outside of making the Saint crew argue

I'm glad they wrapping up after the 6th season cause imo it's been downhill since S3

and i know they were tripping balls but I'm kind of averse to these dream state episodes. Sopranos is my favorite show ever, and Test Dream is my least favorite episode.

i didn't get Franklin's girl randomly going Skylar White and going to meet with Kane either.

I do like Kane as a character, if for no other reason than Nixon is doing a great job

What i'm a bit confused about is who is Cissy's guy? She referenced KGB, which jives with her being in Cuba, but didn't know if it was just the acid talking. The DEA guy from previous seasons was in the van and it looked more official than just some off the books/revenge for his partner thing.

but yeah i wasn't feeling the whole franklin arguing with himself stuff

..if not, I guess I can understand your gripes with the ep, but even then... ehhh.

The dialogue for this ep was necessary, if only to establish the break each character is currently making in the overall story arc. If its a matter of production preference, cool.

• Franklin has been at war with himself since ep 1. Avi's convo with him at the wedding was brief, but very necessary moving forward (trust me).
• Sissy's story is classically obvious when it comes to this genre. The Spooks are circling and everything's falling into place (if you know your general history of the crack game, you already know how it ends. The entertainment is all about how/when.
• V going directly to Kane shows you who she truly is. While some people would credit her for being bold/fearless, you know the truth is coming. Snakes in the grass.
• Kane's introduction was clumsy, but only because they failed to even mention his existence in previous seasons (esp for a character credited for "raising" Franklin & Leon in the game. (Ironically, Power got that part right with Kanan).
• Louis/Jerome's departure was always looming. Jerome no longer has the desire, which clearly compromises his ability to think straight and keep his head in the game. Louis made a mistake using a cop for a hit, but that's exactly how shit fell apart in the 80s (hindsight is a muthafucka). The worst part is that she didn't even share that with Jerome.
• Leon appears to be the only member of the crew that's somewhat paying attention to the truth. The game is evolving faster than any of them realize.
• Teddy & Franklin are the bad guys of this story, with Teddy clearly being the more ruthless of the two. The difference is that we've always known Teddy's crazy-ass motives. Franklin doesn't want to admit it, but he's in love with the game and the perception of power he believes it affords him. Teddy is the only person with a true exit plan, but even HE isn't gonna use it.
• Oso is likely the most beloved character on the show at this point (with good reason). His patience and ability to stay out of the fray might be the only reason he survives any of this (but I doubt it).

i didn't say it was inconsequential. i said i wasn't crazy about it. mafamatics called if filler. I don't think it's filler, I just wasn't feeling the device.

Things def moved forward, but outside of Franklin's call to Teddy, everything could have happened anyway.
but no we didn't literally need to see frankin arguing with franklin lol

but to answer your question, right before the first time i was gonna drop acid still in high school, my best friend, who was extreme about everything, and had done it a few times took 2 (possibly 3) tabs in a few hours and lost his shit. i spent all night babysitting this fool, we went to a party and had to leave after 10 minutes because he said everyone is melting, dude was in car with me crying talking about fuck, you're melting, man lol. i still make fun of him for that shit. we spent hours driving around looking for this older hippie dude we knew because we thought he could fix it lol.

i know it was a matter of him just taking to much but it spooked me enough that i never tried it. but i'm not big on shit i can't control so i don't really fuck with psychedelics.

I was okay overall with the episode. Some of worked, and some of it didn't. Franklin's internal/external struggle was so-so. Cissy freaking out was so-so. Leon and Avi bonding was good. Louie and Leon expression true love was good. Soundtrack was great. The DEA showing up to tape everything was out of the blue, but not unexpected. Regardless if the operation was called off, Franklin and his crew aren't operating under the radar anymore, so someone is going to stake out a wedding, on some Godfather Part 1 shit.

I kept thinking that if I was at the wedding, I would have escaped like Wanda. I'm also allergic to chocolate.

Franklin's girl showing up to talk to Norm Nixon was... weird. Unless there's something bigger going on. I'm pretty sure the cop's hit is going to go wrong. And then all hell breaks loose.

i chalked up S4 to covid limitations, it's still highly watchable, but there was a time where this show was getting way better than i ever would have expected. Now it's about back at 'meets expectations'

So these guys Cissy hired are KGB, but also the DEA is watching them? I thought there was a connection, but it seems to be separate.

I LOVE Avi but if he's not dead it's gonna be pretty ridiculous.

Kane being the one to get away was pretty predictable, but the fallout with the crash cop, or even bringing him into the fold, is kinda cool. even though it happened in like 20 minutes

Jammin Jerome is still the frontrunner to die, but now they seem to be setting up Leon for a big fall.

I'm mad they didn't really give Oso a story this season

I'm still not a fan of Skylar Black on this show

i dunno. they lost a step

The Cissy/KGB stuff is my least favorite storyline of the show. They've barely done anything with it, but I'm sure it's still going to end up "important." I imagine it's the way that Saint gets pulled back in, just when he's ready to walk away.

>I LOVE Avi but if he's not dead it's gonna be pretty
>ridiculous.

Yeah, he should be dead. Damn shame. He became a great character.

>Jammin Jerome is still the frontrunner to die, but now they
>seem to be setting up Leon for a big fall.

Still has to be Jerome. They gotta show Louie having to sacrifice something in order to be in top. I can see Leon and Wanda walking away and coming back fully anti-drug game next season.

>I'm mad they didn't really give Oso a story this season

Look, if we're being real, they haven't given Oso a full season's worth of material since Season 2. I do think they're setting up him siding with Saint rather than Teddy, or at least bouncing on Teddy. Saint saved his life this season, while Teddy ran away on him. And he knows how unstable Teddy has become.

>I'm still not a fan of Skylar Black on this show

I just don't get her purpose as she's written. I don't think she's playing Saint, because she talks too damn much about being a grifter's daughter.

>i dunno. they lost a step

Again, probably. It's better than season 1, which was inconsistent as hell. Probably at the level of Season 2, which it was very watchable genre TV.

Sounds about right. I'm cringing and bracing for a big reveal that Alton isn't dead. I sincerely hope i'm wrong because this would put us firmly in SOA territory.

Ha this is true. Great point about Teddy running and Franklin riding with him. I didn't consider it.

Yeah, she's terribly written. She's starting to remind me of Axe's wife on Billions going on in every scene about her scrappy working class roots.
I assume her scammer past is gonna save them somehow in the finale but still..

It's the show i always expected, which is mid level good, entertaining, solid acting, LA shit, etc.. After s3 it felt it was turning a corner, and maybe even sneaking its way into that upper tier. but this ain't that, which is fine, i guess

C'mon, man. We know this is coming. Last scene in the finale next week.

>What book did he want Franklin to read?

Franz Fanon's "Wretched of the Earth." If you don't know, Fanon was an Algerian French radical. The book, which was published right before he died in the early 1960s, is about the nature of colonization, and endorsed the idea of violent revolution by the colonized against the colonizers. So basically the type of thing Leon has been getting into all season.

>Ha this is true. Great point about Teddy running and Franklin
>riding with him. I didn't consider it.

Especially since he knows Franklin had the opportunity to just bounce on him after he got those guys killed by the Tigers, but decided to come back.

Yeah, I was happy enough where it was at during season 2. But Season 3, especially the back half, made me think it was turning into something special. And then it wasn't. As you alluded to, I'm willing to blame this on COVID and then it never got back on the right track.

I'm surprised my prediction about Jerome was off, but he's probably a goner next season.

RIP to Avi. I had hoped he would somehow make it through, but it's the KGB; there's no way they were letting an ex Mossad turn gun runner for the CIA go.

So I'm guessing Veronique's international con-artist mom is coming into play. I think they're going to try to get that money that Teddy stole back, which seems impossible unless her mom is some Ocean's 8-level scammer.

Leon and Wanda took that trip to Africa Nas, and T-Boz tried in Belly. Guess they come back to a thoroughly devastating hood with some real gang warfare popping off.

Franklin saying fuck it and rolling with Black Diamond and Dallas to raid all of Louie and Jerome's spots was some thug shit. He took the bread, then went to Kane and dropped that line leaving them fucked. I'm still trying to understand the full play unless it's they all gotta come to him to survive.

Speaking of Louie and Unc, Louie thought she had it locked and didn't realize how much of a monster Franklin is. Jerome is stupid for going along with all of this, and it's def going to get him killed.

So I was confused by Teddy's play. He takes all of Franklin's cash, which he was going to do if Franklin quit or not, then he is going to use it to fund another CIA program. But since he's no longer CIA, why do that to keep himself in the game? I get the dedication, but to me, it seemed like he was setting up to bounce with Parissa's nutty but sexy self. Now she's missing; he knows something is up, but does he think he will get the agencies' help since he's a contractor. It wouldn't be easier to "cut him loose." Disavow the whole thing?

I'm done with Cissy; she got my man Avi killed.

Oso getting hemmed up by that DEA agent and had all that cash on him. I take it he goes down, keeps quiet, and ends up taking the wrap for killing that other DEA agent and running the drugs. It seems like that DEA agent never let go of the case. It sucks because I wanted him, Leon, and Wanda to make it out clean.

Let's see what this last season sets up.

I just figured he dropped a dime so Kane could go to war and they would lose without any money or dope to fund their side. But even still Louie and Jerome can't do shit, all they got is Buckley and the promise of other crooked cops. Which they can't pay for.

>Still don't know why the writers thought it was a good idea

That scene still doesn't make sense to me. If it would've to have lead to a connection with something else fine. But it just seemed like a filler scene.
>If Cissy think she can manage the KGB she goofy as shit
She all the way goofy and out of her depth messing with El Chapo the KGB agent. She basically gonna get Franklin sent to jail now, it's not like those guys are going to go "Well we got all the info we need, lets just keep Franklin's name out of it when we leak it to the press."
