"Apocalypse Now: The Final Cut"

Francis Ford Coppola remastered the fuck outta this. The picture and sound in IMAX was incredible.

I wish he cut the French Plantation shit though. It still kills the momentum of the film and is a bit heavy handed with the colonialism and colonization of war.

The original 35MM theatrical version with the end credits showing the destruction of Kurtz's compound.

The film in the original 70mm version just ends - it's a cowardly way to end the film.

Francis said that he had footage of them destroying and blowing up the sets. Hle thought that footage would be cool Todo credits over. He then pulled it once everyone thought that Willard destroyed the compound.

Yup, Willard should have destroyed the compound and the 35mm brought that to the movie.

It was just cool footage of sets being destroyed.

That was the retcon reason from Coppola.

Who do you trust, me - or the director?

The plantation was a momentum killer.

The bunny helicopter crash was gross and played off their forced prostitution as a joke. Ha ha, they're airheads!

The surfboard heist was interesting, because it more explicitly made the point that Duvall's character was a jackass, whereas he comes across as some kind of eccentric badass in the original cut. But still superfluous.

As a big fan of the movie, it's very interesting to see, but yeah, the original cut is the better film.

I check for: Serengeti, Zeroh, Open Mike Eagle, Jeremiah Jae, Moka Only.
