Shiv's been loyal to Logan, IDK I saw everyone on reddit saying obviously this was another setup but sheeeeesh

That whole scene felt way too real, I really hope for her sanity's sake that he's not playing her lmao

she's clearly the Roy fit to take the reigns. I could see him pulling the rug like he did with Kendal, but it won't be in favor of one of his fuck up sons

As father and son they are closer (nothing like an accidental death to pull family together). As business Kendall is a dead man walking and everyone knows it.

And yeah, Shiv is screwed. Logan could hold the idea of taking over the company so Shiv could put her political aspirations on hold and screw over the presidential nominee.

Was the whole thing impulsive? a reaction to Gil chiding her for her Purell comments, and her just thinking on the spot "fuck you, hypocrite"?

OR did she plan to blow things up with Gil before she got in the car and made the Purrel comment because she knew he'd react?

Yeah, i fell for it too. He's playing her, and she seems aware of it but she's still chasing the light. I'd say she's better of with Gil if i thought Gil would win but Connor probably has a better chance at pres

That she'd definitely been sorta subconsciously planning it at the same time, if that makes sense. In other words it was gonna happen, whether it was right then or some other time in the not-so-distant future.

>Yeah, i fell for it too. He's playing her, and she seems aware
>of it but she's still chasing the light.

That's what was so frustrating/shocking about her dropping Gil in that moment. Obviously she wore her excitement on her face about being tapped for heir to the throne every time she walked away from a conversation w/Logan about it. But I still thought she was too smart to throw all her eggs in that basket right away. But maybe *she* is playing a long con game, too, and we're just not privy to it yet.

>I'd say she's better
>of with Gil if i thought Gil would win but Connor probably has

Hahaha prolly true but it still wouldn't hurt to align yourself with a movement gaining that much steam. But I guess billions is more enticing ... #merikkka

Yeah, you know she doesn't care anything about that shit lol. She rocked with Gil because she thought he could win. And douchebag affair guy convinced her he could win and she was still into him at the time. AND as a fuck you to her dad by picking his polar opposite. Now that she at least wants to believe things with her dad are changing, and seeing how easily Gil can get sucked in, she's asking herself why. especially if she had one foot out the door like you said, so he's set off by his self righteousness about the joke

Everything with Tom and Greg, Everything with Tom and the Fox news lady. Really all things Tom

Jeremy Strong is absolutely crushing it. Kendall is this whipped dog/ruthless henchman. It's so awkward and cringy when he half-ass tries to be relatable. I legit didn't see that Vaulter (gawker) move coming.

Shiv's affair guy. We're only a few weeks after last season. He's treating it like it was a few weeks ago, Shiv is treating it like it was last year when the show was last on.

Roman, Connor... such terrible people. all of them

This show does such a damn good job of making these people so incredibly hateable.

I get why hes with Shiv but its hard to see why shes with him. I guess the plan was for him to run Waystar and since he knows she can run him , she could kinda Tywin Lannister it because she knew her dad would never give it to her directly. Now Logan threw that curve ball

Man, that was all kinds of fucked up.

Then the next day he goes to "Sorry it got so fruity."

Have we seen the person who supposedly talked to the biographer, but then died? I thought for sure it was going to come out that it was Tom.

Speaking of which, I am starting to feel bad for Tom. He's a gaping asshole like everyone else, but no one respects him at all, especially not Shiv. And it's fucked up that she's using him to try to get Logan to do what she wants while she gets to sit above it all. And she makes sure they're in an "open relationship" where the dynamic is set up that she gets to fuck around. I doubt she'd afford him the same slack.

And oh yeah, Connor is a fucking imbecille.

by not diming out Greg which seemed like an easy way to score points with Logan. That and straight up schooling Greg on why he shouldn't trust anyone really made me look at Tom as not 100% terrible. He's def not a *good* person, but it's a good display of what happens to someone ambitious mixed with the Roys. Frank is another.

>Have we seen the person who supposedly talked to the
>biographer, but then died? I thought for sure it was going to

For some reason I didn't even consider that Tom had also talked. It's still a possibility that he did, along with several others like Geri or even some of Logan's goons.

I think Shiv is unaware that she's also an awful person. Like, even Roman knows he's a terrible guy and just rolls with it. I mean, she floated the open relationship thing literally on their wedding night.

>And oh yeah, Connor is a fucking imbecille.

I wonder how far this presidential storyline will go. Wila who is somewhat aware that Connor is a ridiculous person, said she thought his video was pretty good. And she's not necessarily presented as a dumb person but she could be kind of an avatar for your run of the mill not really engaged American. Don't want to make this about Trump but kind of a mutual thing where the so-called elites and Connor have a mutual disrepsect and the sect of the population could find a dummy like Connor speaking out against them refreshing. Especially if Logan pulls of taking over what I assume is supposed to be the New York Times, or at least respected in the same light.

He's nailed pretty much everything in the series, in fact. But that's the type of scene/reaction that's gotta be really tough to pull off believably and he nailed it.

Yea that scene when he came home was sorta heartwrenching even tho like you said, he's a fantastic piece of shit just like the whole of them. But between this scene, and his taking cover for Greg, I kinda begrudgingly respect him a lot more after this episode. There's a human heart in there somewhere.

Isn't Mo the guy who Logan visited last season? Or they offered his wife some perks if she stepped in to help with the takeover from Logan? I can vaguely recall Kendall or someone visiting a dying guy or his wife for something like that.

Tom is cool. He's just naive and has no street sense at all. Kinda dude who gets by due to virtue of his education and connections (to Shiv) but can't survive on his own. I genuinely felt for dude when Shiv alluded to what she had done while he was in Hungary.

he's thought of as a loser and a failure but we forget how close he was to actually pulling off that coup

he continues to be fascinating to watch.

I legit thought Roman and Geri was gonna happen. We still don't know what Roman's sexual hang up is.

It looks like there is some weird tension there. She is always looking to take care of him. Wasn't it stated, during the first season, that she was his godmother or something?

Maybe Roman's like Ivar The Boneless (From Viking's). Ivar can't get it up. He was born that way.

Edit:
And yeah! Kendall, despite his current sheepishness, is playing his hand pretty deftly right now.

Yes he does. The inyourface snitching was kind of incredible, now that you mention it. I didn't really even consider how ballsy it was for him to do that so boldly in the moment, but now that you mention it I'm kinda blown away.

I'm interested to see where his story goes because I feel like they've hardly even really dealt with his trauma related to killing that kid. Though I guess it could be argued that all of his coldblooded maneuvering is exactly that: dealing with that trauma.

Haha yea - I thought the same thing re: Roman & Geri.

That line from Tabitha was ice cold ! Wonder if they're gonna address his hangups head on at any point this season or leave it ambiguous.

The typewriting is kind of tongue in cheek, but really, that's the kind of stuff I imagine you can't possibly put in a script. The actor just has to bring it. Awesome.

for a lot of the reasons you just mentioned. probably the funniest episode ever mixed with one of the most heartbreaking and human with the Kendal stuff.

Tom's interview of Ravenhead.

Tom and Greg just all things Tom and Greg

Tom George Costanzaing down the hallway "Executives coming through!" then worrying about the social status of his panic room

I guess we're getting to the bottom of Roman's "thing". he's on some Chuck Rhodes humiliation shit, mixed in with mommy issues.

Everything with Roman and his new homie from management training. (wtf does "I'm intellectually promiscuous but culturally conservative" mean?? lol. That guy was great though. i hope we get more of him and Roman

Romans's part in the training video. too fucking funny

Connor's eulogy. Really everything with Connor and Wila was gold

Kendall shitting the bed.

Should've stuck to her guns to avoid falling into asshole Logan's trap.

Can someone explain to me the ending there ? I thought the whole deal was torpedoed when they left the Pierce's ... and it looked like Gerri told him "no" again on the chopper.

Then suddenly, it was done by the time they landed ? Did I miss something ?

That was such a smart, human moment. Sure Shiv can play it cool and cold with the best of them, but she'd spent weeks being promised the job, being told how much the Pierces liked her, being conflicted over leading a company she fundamentally disagrees with and worried that Logan was secretly just playing her against Kendall or some other invisible man.

So she sees the dinner as a moment of relative candor, feels like the deal is going south specifically because Logan won't announce an heir, thinks she can help by letting Nan know there very much is a plan (and she's right, to be fair) and just blurts it out in a desperate bid to make her dream a reality and throw all that weight off her shoulders.

The rough part is that everybody in the room was shocked, but only Roman and Logan seemed against it in any way, and both for vague or nepotistic reasons. So for the consequences of her power play to be so potentially dire for her (and to see how shook she was afterward) is why this show is doing huge, huge work right now.

I really think the world ought to wake up to the fact they're out there looking for the next Game of Thrones and, sure, nobody's probably getting beheaded on this show, but from the score (seriously, that music) to the stakes, there's no show walking such a fine line between absurd comedy and defeating drama. Everybody should be up on this!

An interesting little nugget during dinner was when they showed the servers hustling away in the kitchen, only for Nan Pierce to come in and grab the bird without so much as a thank you. And then she walks out and presents the food as if she'd done the cooking. The camerawork was there subtly masterful as they briefly showed the look on the main servant's face in the doorway while all this was going on.

I liked the implication there: that filthy rich people, even those with "good" politics, are all pieces of shit on some level.

That was so perfectly done. and Nan speaking to her before dinner talking about "Rosa, why don't you ever join us? you work so hard", and you can tell Nan is thinking to herself look how down to earth and kind I am, I talk to Rosa like she's an actual person.

Yeah, I walked away having a lower opinion of the Pierces than the Roys because of the pretension ("thank you for visiting our weird little home"). The Roys at least have some level of self-awareness that they're just obscenely wealthy dicks. Nan's only real apprehension for literally selling the news, is price and ego

Legit LOL'd.

Another great ep.

I will say though that I'm a little confused by Marcia thus far this season. Either (a) they're setting us up for some surprise move by her later in the season/series, or (b) they're doing a rush/poor job fleshing out her character. Cause if there's no bigger storyline coming for her, then her outburst at dinner in ep5 seems wildly out of character/out of place.

I mean I think we'd all agree that she's clearly in it for the money w/Logan, primarily. But that being the case, she'd know better than to torpedo such an important dinner like last week's. The kids' messiness at dinner was expected and on-brand. But Marcia, to this point in the series, has seemed more calculated and disciplined than to pull some shit like that.

Especially when in the very next episode she's smiling slyly at Logan as he rubs her face, talking about "if I'm with someone I'm *with* them," and chastising Shiv for doing "too much" @ the panel discussion. That just seems lazy on the part of the writers if they don't have larger plans for her later on.

That's only a minor gripe though. This show is fantastic.

will reveal itself in time. I found it pretty confusing too though, like if we missed something. Only thing I can think of is it seems she's feeling sidelined, while all his dumb kids were given assignments on which Pierce to work, her assignment was smile and look supportive. I assume she considers herself far above some trophy wife. She nursed him back to health. She propped him up last season for that speaking thing. I remember how territorial she was in not letting Shiv see Logan when he was sick. Or maybe since her and Shiv dont like each other maybe her annger OS rooted there.

Of course Nan was impressed Logan would marry someone from Lebanon. Just made me also remember the one lady at the dinner party commenting howTom/Shiv naming their dog Mondale was a good sign

She *definitely* doesn't like Shiv. Probably because she realizes Shiv is likely the chief competition for inheriting the empire.

(this is kind of a tangentially related aside, by the way)

... but I struggle to understand why these folks are all fighting so hard to actually *take over*. This family are billionaires probably multiple times over. Were I a member of the family I'd undoubtedly be perfectly content w/inheriting what would probably be hundreds of millions of dollars and avoiding all this bullshit, and going on my merry way.

And this is "tangentially related" because I struggle with this in a lot of instances where rich assholes stand to either chill the fuck out and inherit several million dollars or ... fight their asses off for like, a couple extra million dollars.

Seems like a lot of stress for what amounts to the exact same quality of life relative to your wealthy/ability to do whateverthefuck you want.

On a further tangent, a girl i went to school with is dating this wealthy dude and they've been travelling all over the world for the past month and she's been posting a lot of pics on facebook. It looks like she's having a blast and more power tow her and all, but dude was tagged so I clicked on his facebook page last week, and it's mostly pics of him on jets and helocopters and world travelling, mixed with rants on how he doesn't understand why people should depend on the government to give them handouts and other pompous liberterian drivel. the whole thing kinda reminded me of the Romney 47% thing.

She grew up in east la and never had shit, and she's not all that political but will occasionally post lefty or feminist comments, so I'm kinda wondering if she will wind up repeating some of his talking points

I don't really have a point. this just popped in my head because we were talking about rich people lol

And again I'll never understand it, hence why I'll probably never be that kind of rich. Cause I've never cared about title/status, just freedom/comfort to do what I want. That's what motivates me more than status. I guess money plays into that freedom a little bit, just based on the society/world we live in, but I wouldn't say "money" is the motivating factor, either.

LOL. That's fucking obnoxious. I obviously don't know how dude made his money but one way or the other it's easy for him to say that no one should depend on handouts, from where he sits.

Between Shiv's setup via Rhea and Kendall meant to suffer in the home of the man he couldn't save, Logan's backhand to Roman might have been the kindest thing he's done to one of his children.

It will be interesting if the Roy Kids enlist Marcia.

proved Rhea right by walking right into that shit. It's downright sad how easily she got played. We have to assume Rhea is anticipating Shiv striking back so Shiv should know this going in, get out of her feelings and be smart about her next move. You're right that Marcia could def come into play.

Kendall brought Naomi around which Logan wasn't crazy about, then he brought up that Rhea could be playing him, so bringing him along to meet the family of the guy he killed was to remind him of his place? Make sure he stays somewhat broken?

Kendall and his mom.. fuck that was brutal.

Logan had that good BDE this episode putting all the kids in check. His mom curving him may have been worse than Logan rubbing his node in the accidental deathing of the kid. It was soooooo painful to watch.

Shiv getting played was bound to happen. She been fucking up the last few episodes trying to get that spot Logan 'promised' her. The question is does she believe she got played by Rhea or Logan? Don't feel sorry for her either way, as if she had been even partially sensible she would have known any thought of going to PGE, either seriously or in jest, would be a horrible idea, especially since the idea came from Rhea, who just got fired from there. Not as smart as she thinks is correct.

At this point I'm all for a Roman/Jerry team-up. Never gonna happen, but at this point it's the best option out of a bunch of crap. The getback of Rhea from Shiv should be fun to watch, but I don't see it working as well for Shiv in the end.

I can't call it. I could see her thinking this is all Rhea, and it mght be supported by Kendall telling her he thinks Rhea is playing him, but she also knows her dad is stringing her along and this is a great out for him.

Yeah, she got exposed and hung out. She has to know now how dumb she was to fall for this thing. Rhea just appears, starts fucking her dad (who's been avoiding her), calls her to a lunch meeting and dangles the CEO job she got fired from in her face, and her radar doesn't smell a rat? I love how every episode they're in a new place and how there's always so much going on

Did Shiv purposely push Rhea into this coming firestorm?

Kendal falling in love and literally shipping her home for being basic in front of his dad

Did Roman legit as Geri to marry him? What he asking?

All thing Connor. Lol wow.

She was on mission all episode to sink Rhea's ship, with or without any help. She even tried pimping out Tom (further showing how little of a shit she cares about his feelings or what happens to him). Letting the Rhea nomination go through just before the story breaks and have her deal with it is the perfect get back. The only thing that could backfire is if Rhea handles the corporate backlash well and holds onto the job (though this is the kind of thing that demands a job sacrifice, with the CEO's head on the chopping block).

Brian Cox played that perfectly. He knows he's screwed and in for a serious fight, but his boy finally became a killer (after being pressured all season)

Even just with Tom, there are so many possible shifts in power depending on how Shiv decides to move in the off season. I'm worried we've seen the last of Tom and Greg on good terms whatever else goes down, which'll be a loss.

It's clear that Kendall and Greg had some pretty meaningful off-screen conversations, you have to wonder if Ken brought Shiv into the fold all the way back in Logan's office in episode 3 or 4? It'd be a bit of a made-for-TV contrivance but I'd allow it.

Roman got the COO job and Ken endorsed it, and now there are real stakes involved - is Roman going to pick a side here, or continue waffling like he did in the first season? His behavior this episode made him seem like the first of the kids to have crossed the rubicon - or at least come close - to understanding just how unsupportive they are of each other, but will he be able to turn that newfound self-awareness on Logan?

It'd be great if season 3 could start, oh, tomorrow.

which may be why she fought so hard for Ken to take the fall and not Tom. I mean she cares about Tom, but choosing to protect him is a clear sign of weakness to her dad. I can only see her making that play if she knew it was a step to get Logan out the picture. I think she is confident enough to feel like she can out smart Ken if need be once Logan is out.

even though they mapped it, I didn't see it until he said a few words, then "oh shit" kicked in. Logan's smirk reminded me a bit of this https://youtu.be/R12V9oq3aRM

Or something equivalent. Maybe admit to the murder. I dunno. They just played up the suicide angle so much this year-- it was a great way to set up the choice he made, kill or be killed. Kept me from seeing it coming until the pause before he said it.

Prior to the episode, I was speculating Kendall's s2 fate with a friend of mine and like you, guessed suicide and/or some kind of admission of guilt to someone about the car accident.

But by the time we got to him approaching the podium, neither of those two things crossed my mind and I was certain he was about to blow the whole thing up.

it sounds bleak to watch morally deformed elites cannibalize each other, but they've really fleshed out the characters and relationships in a beautiful, trainwreck kind-of-way.

Logan's sly appreciation of being ambushed on national TV -- by the same son who was late to his own boardroom coup a year ago -- was the perfect ending note.

if they go for the ending in S3, this could be an all-time series.

Watchmen is/was brilliant, and I'm in the camp that Hope's it gets a full series. For now I view it as the limited series it's been presented as.

I lived the fuck out of the first season and couldn't wait for this one. I missed a couple reps early, got stuck on other things and just decided to dive back in down the road.

I binged both seasons, all the way through, over the last week. I love the fact that I enjoy listening to shows as much as watching them, I'll say that.

This was as superb second season as any, fleshing out their world while building on the major stories from the first. I love that they used the cruise so effectively, turning what could have been merely a great Greg/Tom sideshow into a disruptive, game changing force, all the way to the bitter(sweet!) End.

Greg is out here on some Varys shit, lying in wait and taking a a shot at kingmaker.

Everyone kills their roles, but Cox and Strong are the backbone. Watching Kendall just eat shit while serving as Logan's attack dog/right hand was something to behold, and the last couple of scenes were a perfect bookend to last seasons finale.

Here's hoping this team makes good for another few seasons, because this shit has an early claim to a seat at the big table, with Sopranos and GoT.
