I thought this was gonna be the season where hes smart but now he's just overconfident.
I will say this ep is probably the best hes looked so far. I like how he flipped it on scummy landlord and his Andre set up was kinda right
But trolling Andre in the first place over his daughter was beyond dumb, and I don't know why Leon's ex is still breathing, especially seeing that He's executing heads for talking back.
He needs to listen to his dad more
And of COURSE Stacy runs Inglewood. I cant be mad at the choice lol

>I thought this was gonna be the season where hes smart but >now he's just overconfident. Nope, we might as well call this show "What Franklin do some dumb shit."
>I will say this ep is probably the best hes looked so far. I >like how he flipped it on scummy landlord and his Andre set up >was kinda right Yea best by far, I was surprised the landlord story would come back but I liked how they ended it. His Andre setup was nice, but as you said early he's overconfident and has no woke up a sleeping beast. Guess we about to find out what stick up kid Andre was like now.
>But trolling Andre in the first place over his daughter was >beyond dumb, and I don't know why Leon's ex is still >breathing, especially seeing that He's executing heads for >talking back. Leon's weak spot is he doesn't know how to separate business and personal shit. That's going to be his downfall in the end. Though I think he's wise enough to know not to fuck with that Inglewood shit.
>He needs to listen to his dad more Nope Franklin still thinks he's the man and doesn't understand the knowledge an old head is trying to lay on you. Shit, his uncle was trying to tell him after that beat down by LAPD to let this shit go.
>And of COURSE Stacy runs Inglewood. I can't be mad at the >choice lol That was an excellent choice, as soon as he showed up I was like "STACY!!" That shit in the apartment was wild. Manboy tried to warn em' and Leon saw that shit first hand. Leon's a gangster but he ain't about that wildlife.
I feel like the message this season is going to be everyone around Franklin trying to get out that life and instead of getting dragged in deeper.
I also feel bad for Teddy, he's going to end up in some deep shit and the CIA is going to hang him out to dry, including his ex. My man in the jungle was trying to warn him but he's so in love and caught up in his cause that he's blind to what's being done to him.

Lol yeah, Manboy had to tell Leon, that little pitbull shit you're on ain't gonna fly up here
Seems clear they're setting up some kind of riff between Leon and Franklin, but i doubt they split
> I feel like the message this season is going to be everyone >around Franklin trying to get out that life and instead of >getting dragged in deeper.
It seemed in episode 1 they were setting up Andre's daughter to get strung out. Now I think they're setting her up to skip college to join the police academy.
>I also feel bad for Teddy, he's going to end up in some deep >shit and the CIA is going to hang him out to dry, including >his ex. My man in the jungle was trying to warn him but he's >so in love and caught up in his cause that he's blind to >what's being done to him.
Man, i always find myself feeling sorry for Teddy, but then I remember his role in this whole thing lol

Best episode of the season, possibly best of the show. As perfect a representation of the hell of crack use as I've ever seen portrayed on TV or the films. Seeing Mel and Wanda was some heartbreaking shit, especially since they're essentially "before" and "after." And Franklin's brief into the crack house was as disturbing as anything this side of "Jungle Fever."
The other stuff was solid enough too, especially Oso tossing ol' boy out the window. And nothing good is going to come of Reed's baby mama trying to get him out of the game.
8. "Ha. I can def. see that." In response to Reply # 5
>this in the sense that it was kind of surreal break from the >main stories even thought its relevant. this drugged up >horror/adventure
This was disturbing in a whole other type of way.
>i felt bad for Andre
Me too. He was right that the life of his daughter doesn't have anything to do with him, but the girl was right that his actions against Franklin and the desire to put dope on the table have unintended consequences.
>she gave that Kate from Godfather smile when he said he was >considering it. She's gonna wind up compost.
Yep. He's dissolving her in acid by the season finale.
6. "That was a rough episode to watch" In response to Reply # 4
Just watching that cycle go down in what appeared to be less than 24 hrs.
I felt bad for Andre, but at the same time, he brought some of it on himself the way he's been handling his beef with Franklin. He never took the time to be straight up and open with Mel about his feelings on Franklin and his actions as an officer had an impact on Mel which leads her to try the pipe.
Leon being the voice of reason and truth the episode was great. Franklin may be the brains but Leon has heart and that street knowledge that Franklin doesn't. But I do have to say Franklin let out some of his inner gangster while searching for Mel.
Oso has been solid too and that window toss was WWE status.
Teddy, well Teddy's just as dumb as Franklin. He's going to have to dead his ex or she's going to dead/jail him and take the Op over. She's more about the CIA than Teddy and he still doesn't see it.

>Just watching that cycle go down in what appeared to be less >than 24 hrs.
Showed how quick things can go from a seemingly idyllic time smoking rock and roller-skating to music to "Bitch, you're going to need to come up off that necklace" once the crack is gone. Also shows how thin the line is between Mel and Wanda.
>I felt bad for Andre, but at the same time, he brought some of >it on himself the way he's been handling his beef with >Franklin. See, I don't blame Andre here. I feel like the show did a good job of showing how Mel smoking crack didn't directly have anything to do with Franklin or Andre. She was just partying before heading off to school, got peer-pressured by a guy she liked, and bang, now she's willing to spend all her money on rocks.
>Leon being the voice of reason and truth the episode was >great. Franklin may be the brains but Leon has heart and that >street knowledge that Franklin doesn't. But I do have to say >Franklin let out some of his inner gangster while searching >for Mel.
Agree on both counts.
>Oso has been solid too and that window toss was WWE status.
I damn near yelled when they showed dude nose-diving out the window.

Franklin shouldn't have trolled Andre the way he did, and Andre (though understandable) shouldn't have made his fucking with Franklin's people so personal.

strategy. i guess it's just straight sabotage on different fronts?
she has to know she was putting him in harm's way, so it frustrated the fuck out of me when after all that she came back to "hey we can go away together". I kinda hate that this show is making me side with the guy who's flooding the hood with crack.
I guess Teddy can't exactly disappear her if the agency sent her. Lin from Sons of Anarchy tried to warn him about her tho
Who shot at Avi? The people he owes saw he was trying to bounce?
Franklin seems fucked. Avi is fucked. Melanie is fucked. Teddy, even if he salvages this is ultimately fucked.

Yea she's basically going across the board to take Teddy out the picture

Dude she's playing him, I don't think she wants him back at this point. Maybe in season 1 but now she's about the Opp and he's in the way of the opp being successful and he's too exposed if shit goes bad. But she did get Andre fucked up
>I guess Teddy can't exactly disappear her if the agency sent >her. Lin from Sons of Anarchy tried to warn him about her tho Teddy might be able to disappear her. Get her hanging with those Colombians and get her lit off of some pure? I'm sure accidents can happen...

>Franklin seems fucked. Avi is fucked. Melanie is fucked. >Teddy, even if he salvages this is ultimately fucked.
Franklin is fucked but he finally did some season 1 G shit. Avi is mos def fucked on all fronts, though I think Franklin should've been easier on him about lending him the money. He is/was a valuable resource.
Mel? Man, I'm shedding tears cause that was a beautiful smart black woman taken down by crack. Now her daddy gone too, shiiiit I've seen that story play out in real life one too many times.
Teddy is fucked for sure, at this point he might as well crossover fully.

>Will Saint be paralyzed from here on out?
Huh, I hadn't thought of that. It seemed she kept shooting in the upper body, but who knows.
But I do figure that htis is where Manboy and crazy-ass Skully make their move. After herbing Man-Boy's crew all season, Leon might be dead. Though I think it's more likely that Jerome's time might be up (all the talk about whether he should've gotten out of the game). Saint's gotta lose some of the people that have been protecting him. Who knows if Teddy cuts him loose and makes a new deal.
I'm hoping there'll be more of Oso next season. He's been kind of in the background since he shot the DEA agent. Now it looks like they've turned him into a much taller El Chopo.
Edit: Oh, and it figures Andre's partner wasn't shit. Shouldn't have been surprised about that. But the "You work for me now!" stuff is going to turn into 20 tons of bullshit.
15. "this was really the return of dumb Franklin" In response to Reply # 14
Why the fuck did he show up at the funeral? He no longer needed the alibi. He and Andre were known rivals. Much of this goes back to Melanie. Why the fuck is he chasing Melanie trying to act like the caring friend. Fucking idiot
>>Will Saint be paralyzed from here on out? > >Huh, I hadn't thought of that. It seemed she kept shooting in >the upper body, but who knows.
I thought the 3rd shot hit his lower back but I could be wrong

Yeah. The only people capable of stepping in in his absence are Louie or his dad

Yeah his girl will probably return too. Maybe next week even.

Yeah the 'one of the good ones" was our first tip off. They turned him into the loyal friend, topped it off with the adopted black son, then pulled it back

Man I hope not
>Huh, I hadn't thought of that. It seemed she kept shooting in >the upper body, but who knows.
Naw, look like a lower-body shot, maybe the kidney or something
>But I do figure that htis is where Manboy and crazy-ass Skully >make their move. After herbing Man-Boy's crew all season, Leon >might be dead. From the preview, it looks like Jerome does end up in some trouble in Inglewood. Probably going after crazy-ass Skully (Stacey). Don't think Leon will get killed, but it may start up the Blood and Crip warfare since it's obvious Man-Boy's a piru and Leon been crip'n since day one.

I'm rooting for Oso, he's tired of getting fucked over by everyone. It looks like Teddy's all in for it and getting high on his own supply, so...

Of course, he ain't shit! That dude is CRASH unit, most infamous crooked cops from LAPD.

Yet, we still see the constant challenges that young black men face (in the hood and everywhere else in this world).
"..Just remember: if you're failing this class, don't beat yourself up too much. In another reality, you're teaching it..."
"..So, who are you, in one of these parallel universes?.."
This dialogue sets the tone for what can only be described as an episode full of poetic justice.
Boyz N The Hood Higher Learning
Sprinkled throughout this season finale were some cinematic reinterpretations of John Singleton's best work (along with a glimpse of a young Singleton in the making). The score was damn-near a eulogy.

I'm pretty sure that was in actuality John Singleton's kid. I'd heard he was supposed to be in this season.

That was a great episode of TV.
I originally thought the entire episode was going to be the "alternate universe," and it was going to end with Saint dying, on some "Jacob's Ladder" shit. I was fine that it wasn't.
But still did a great job in showing how the system is set-up for guys like Franklin to never get their fair shot. Even if he had done the "right" thing, he would gotten fucked and ended up right back in the neighborhood.
Great look at the possible "alternate" lives, and the character call-backs to previous seasons. I was surprised that Kevin didn't show up.
The "Strange Fruit" montage was really powerful as well. You can't tell the story of crack in Los Angeles without gang warfare, and now that's on and popping. That would made a great final scene of the episode/season/series as well.
But, yeah, they pulled it all together in that final scene, where Saint learns the solution from his dream/vision and figures out that he needs to use the CIA/government as much as the CIA/government is using him.
Can't wait until Season 4. Everything is set up lovely. And hopefully we'll get more Oso.
24. "they really turned a corner this season" In response to Reply # 22
this show is starting to live up to its potential. this second half of the season is miles better than its ever been
Alternate reality was kind of like a Kevin Finnerty mixed with It's a Wonderful Life, but I love how they looped it back to Franklin getting pushed back into the hood and mixed up with the CIA.
Nice use of him just straight up telling Teddy he knows who he is.

So I watched the very first 2 episodes of this series, then I kinda just lost interest and never looked back..
But then, on a lark, I decided to watch the season 3 finale, and I was blown away. At first, I didn't realize it was an alternate timeline type of thing because I had been so out of the mix I had no idea what's been going on with the characters.. but by the time they got to the end, I realized they were on some other shit with this show now.
Looks like I got some catching up to do before season 4.
