New show on Amazon Prime by NWR (Drive, Only God Forgives, Neon Demon) starring Miles Teller. All 10 episodes are up. Anyone else on this? Watched the first ep and loved it.

This shit is...something else. I've never seen anything operate at this pace, and that's not a complaint. It feels like NWR is painting pictures with some of these tracking shots.
I couldn't consciously recommend this to anyone, just because of the patience it takes to get through it. I'm constantly hitting the 'skip 10 seconds' button on the Apple remote to get through these eps. But I am enjoying it, and I think others here would as well.

Not sure I could recommend it to someone, maybe if they were a of a NWR. But even then would have to let them know, it will test your patience and while some stunning visual moments and great score, can’t say will be rewarded for said patience. I did the same, I was hitting that 10 second skip a lot.

and missed nothing from a narrative perspective.
There's barely enough story to justify a full-length film and Refn, contrary to what he steadfastly believes, has nothing interesting to say about literally anything. He's that film student who just discovered Lynch but has the deep pockets of a streaming service to back his nonsense, self-important student film.
Refn's effectively the rapist pornographer brother reducing his actors to live dolls that he poses for maximum cool and minimal dramatic effect before doing something horrible to them.

tapping out after the first episode. That performance from the Baldwin brother was enough for me to want to give this show the Heisman, and the sad thing is that I'm sure he did a bang up job given the material he was provided.
I do wonder how this dude manages to get top level actors, actresses, and movie studios to believe in his vision, because I sure a hell don't see it.

Lol I'm confused. Is it inherently a bad thing if a film/show isn't narrative-driven? With that logic everyone could've skipped about 10 episodes of Twin Peaks the Return.
the main storyline chugged on perfectly fine without it. I had no questions because there were no gaps in the narrative nor was I confused. There was never a need to go back and watch them

“It’s like a book,” he said. ‘If you go into a bookstore and find a book, you’re not going to take a book and read the first page. You’re gonna take a book and you’re going to browse through it, somewhere, and you’re going to read a piece of it. ‘Oh, this is interesting. I’ll buy this book.’ If you buy anything, you browse through it, and very rarely do you start at page one.”
