""Love, Death & Robots" (Netflix)..."

anyone check this out?

https://www.imdb.com/title/tt9561862/

we've watched several so far and are digging them quite a bit. Easy to digest (anthology type of series, each episode is its own thing not related to the previous or following, ala like the twighlight zone format.) wide range of styles, but so far most have been rather creative and very well produced. definitely worth a look...

have you listened to
her stuff?

I've watched most of them. Helping Hand and the last one are the ones that sort of set things apart for me.

I really really enjoyed it. I've been trying to tell people about it, and no one has sat down and watched it.

The animation is so incredible and the short run times make them really easy to roll through. The different styles used in each one are really top notch.

Its a great watch.

i think it does the best job at capturing the spirit where both the art and story were tight

some of them felt like pilots

Zima Blue, Helping Hand, The Witness, Yogurt, Fish Night, Good Hunting. those felt like definite one-offs which i liked better

I'd watch a Three Robots show tho. I really liked seeing some french animation in there with Sucker of Souls. Take out the cursing and Blindspot would be a dope show if you have the same budget. Suits looked like it would be a dope movie or game.

I had trouble with the more realistic rendered ones cause they all looked kinda out-dated and they didn't really add anything artistically to the stories despite the stories being solid. Shape-shifters was dope, but it looked so ugly.

Beyond was predictable, but still really cool. I should pause it to take in the scope of the captured ships.

I liked so much of the Motion capture stuff.

The Secret War is one of my favorites the animation is beautiful.

Helping Hand was such an extreme moment, I thought they executed it so well. I liked the look of space and everything.

3 Robots was cool, but nothing I loved. Witness was weird, but I liked the animation style. Alternate History was a good idea, didn't love the animation. Lucky 13 was dope to me, it felt like a cut scene from a really high end video game which I am completely ok with. I also really love Samira Wiley.

Overall I just enjoyed the differences in all of them and that they could tell so many different stories.

shit that the normal person i don't think would notice

the fact that the Witness was fairly stylized and had the most realistic, lifelike acting, but wasn't rotoscoped or motion captured is fucking insane to me. Most of the more realistic ones had pretty stiff acting and weird physics. Lucky 13 was really good animation-wise.

It also had some really complicated angles but you could pause it at any frame and everything could be read clear as day. Just super small but professional shit that wasn't in all of them.

I didn't look at them from that perspective.

For the lay as someone who just looks at stuff like "this is pretty" how can you sort of describe which ones you didn't like in terms of animation.

Here is my ranking (some SPOILERS included):

--THE BEST--
1) The Day the Yogurt Took Over -- clever and original premise, fun, Pixarish. I really loved this one.

2) Beyond the Aquila Drift -- very cool, Matrixy yet still thought-provoking. Probably the "best" episode but I gave the nod to Yogurt for originality.

3) Lucky 13 -- I really liked this one. She was a badass, the emotional attachment to her ship was cool, and the ending was dope.

4) Sonnie's Edge -- the series starts off strong! Very violent/graphic, but I think it landed on badass rather than gratuitous.

5) Three Robots -- clever, fun, "cute."

--SOLID--
6) Blind Spot -- not much to it story-wise, but a lot of fun. Reminiscent of late 80s / early 90s cartoons.

7) Suits -- same as Blind Spot. The mechs are cool.

8) The Witness -- probably ranked too low (should probably be 5ish), but something about it bugged me. Still, a cool idea and very well-executed.

9) Ice Age -- cool and original premise. Fun

10) Shape Shifters -- visually kinda weird, but solid overall.

11) The Secret War -- also visually weird but nonetheless solid. Cooler idea than Shapeshifters but had less impact.

--OKAY--
12) The Sucker of Souls -- I liked this one fine overall, but didn't like the ending... I guess it's good if it left me wanting more, though.

13) Helping Hand -- pretty cool, but I feel like the "malfunction in space" plot has been done a lot. Still, they executed it well.

14) Alternate Histories -- I wanted to like this one, but it got tiresome.

15) Good Hunting -- I really liked the first half of this, but then it went in another direction; I wasn't feeling the Steampunk.

16) The Dump -- entertaining, but one of my least favorite.

17) Zima Blue -- meh. Pretentious and weird. I did like the ending though.

18) Fish Night -- wtf. My least favorite.

was divisive

its basically about how when met with new and somewhat dangerous experiences, the old meet it with wonder and caution, while the young meet it with curiosity and recklessness.

I like the idea of "ghosts of aquatic life" and I was actually enjoying the episode, but the ending made no sense to me. Your point is cool though.
