Dope concept, but how can they get away with that? I mean they straight jacked the superman character.

If the Superman like character is the bad guy, who is the protagonist? A fake Lex Luther? This is like a Zach Snyder dream picture, with a conflict just as poorly planned as Bats versus Supes. If Superman was a sociopath, who could stop him? Is Green Lantern gonna come in the third act to help out? LOL.

That's an awfully smug response.

Your inability to grasp how these questions can be answered doesn't mean they can't or won't be answered in an interesting way.

Sure there is a long shot chance that a filmmaker can make a seemingly unworkable premise work, but they usually don’t and poorly executed premises aren’t what I pay to see. Maybe that’s what you dig. In that case, you go see it. I won’t. Nothing weird there, other than you caring what film I want to see or not.

And there’s nothing “smug” about asking questions. And since seeing a movie is an investment in time and money, I skip films that appear to have an unworkable premise.

If you saw the film, feel free to answer my questions. If you didn’t, why are you hung up about me not seeing it?

Not a bomb due to the low production budget. Forgot Blumhouse makes movies way cheaper than most studios. Still 28 mill ain’t anything to write home about and means basically no one saw this thing in a theater.

Sure I see the anti-Superman schtick.

But really this doesn't seem that different from any other horror movie.

Like another poster said, maybe it could work if the protagonist turns out to be some Lex Luthor-ish character. I doubt it, though.

I'd be pleasantly surprised if the movie went all the way as far as subverting the superhero film--like a superior version of Unbreakable/Split/Glass. But I'm guessing that beyond the premise it's just another forgettable horror movie.

they said "so what if superman was intended to be evil"

and stopped thinking there.

it's *just* a horror movie with not-superman as the bad, all things about superman apply to him

if you like gore it has some that's effectively done

not so much 'what if a superhero was evil?' (aka the basic premise of a supervillain lol) but more along the lines of 'what if a killer/slasher had super powers?'.

some pretty gratuitous/unnecessary gore.

and a lot of the mom screaming (which kind of becomes an unintentional joke in itself).

i wasnt expecting graphic novel level layers and complexity but i was expecting a lil more with james gunn attached.

this would have made a decent netflix drop. not really worth leaving the crib for imo.

The timeframe we're dealing with was REALLY short, but I appreciate it. There's no one to stop this kid, he will rule the world.

I was thoroughly entertained.

Good scares, and even some bursting gore. Here for it.

The small amount of story and lack of I guess thematic vision helps the story be told in a tight way.

I think we assume that if there are super powers involved it has to be a global scale, but in reality some kids would just simply rule their experience.

I'll reiterate that its WAY more enjoyable at home
