I took it as kind of a throwback to the pre-Die Hard era action hero. Silent but deadly dude with a dark, violent past just wants to be left to himself. Obviously shit goes down and he's gotta lock n' load one mo gin.
John Wick was about the same, only better.
It seems like a weird role for Denzel to take up again. Unless this is just a pay check for him, or he's not really getting any good scripts right now.
i haven't seen the 1st one, but went to this anyways and dug it.
like others have said, you can see the twist coming miles away, but other than that i dug the whole thing...denzel is great in this kinda thing, and the direction was solid...

Denzel can do this stuff in his sleep, but he still does it well.
There barely was a plot, and whatever "twists" it had could be seen coming 2,000 miles away. But the top quality action washed most of those "shortcomings" away.

I normally don't pay to see action flicks in the theater. However, I made an exception and checked this one out after my wife and I re-watched the first one on Saturday night.
Nothing more to add that differs much from what was already said before this response.
It was dope entertainment that I didn't expect much from.
I'm not mad at Denzel if this type of work, for him, is simply a money-grab.

This one felt unfocused and disjointed. The fact that a great moment from the trailer didn't make it in and they used an a completely alternate take of another hints at why. They could have cut the elderly Jewish guy's story entirely and lost absolutely nothing.
Pedro Pascal was a pretty milquetoast villain and was far less interesting/menacing than the original's Teddy. And when you've got someone as magnetic as Denzel and a character as intelligent and unflappable as his Robert McCall a forgettable, amoral coward/sell out family man isn't really going to cut it as your big bad.
It was ok and certainly watchable because of Denzel and some serviceable set pieces. But even with my issues w/ the first film, I still thought it was ultimately better/more enjoyable. I'd still definitely watch both on TNT whenever they were on, if I still had TNT.

A lot of you players ain't okay.
We would have been better off with an okaycivics board instead of an okayactivist board

The dialogue at the apt & restaurant are my favorite moments of the series
Also don't think they should've given away the early death in the trailer
