I gave it a heavy go at the house as the midgets were home for an extended weekend.
Didn't hold their attention, wasn't much better with mine...outside of NPH doing some good acting work, I don't have much more positive to say about it.

I love the books* - never got to see the movie but my kids were nonplussed by it. Reviews say this is generally pretty spot on tone-wise, only complaint I saw was that Count Olaf wasn't quite dastardly enough.
Gonna give us a good solid couple weekend watches with the kids at the least.
*we listened to the original 13 on audiobooks; Tim Curry kills it on most of them and Daniel Handler's not too bad on the others. Plus, the Gothic Archies soundtrack tunes... and we read out loud the related 'All The Wrong Questions' book, and The Beatrice Letters... fun fun fun stuff.

Kids are excited. My oldest kept stopping it to interrupt with factoids he'd just gleaned from a reading of The Unauthorized Biography. My daughter renamed one of her stuffed animals Klaus before bed.
Only real complaint is that the white faces women don't literally have white faces.

She is 5 and we just finished watching the first two eps. The exposition and narration were a little confusing for her, but ultimately she got the gist.
They have some advantage in that the older two are familiar with the source material, and for the younger one, we've talked about it enough that he at least has the idea and the names, and the visual humor (ESP Sunny gnawing on things) helps keep him involved.

I think they've nailed the tone, kind of gothic-noir just like the books. I've always read the books in a kind of deadpan voice so I'm pretty pleased with Warburton's narration, though it feels very slightly rushed.
Easter eggs are great, particularly the inclusions from The Unauthorized Autobiography - G and J and Zombies in the Snow. Feels like it sort of ties the whole universe together a little tighter.
