his first feature film. Cleveland native. USC grad.

takes place in Cleveland

reps Afro_Latinos hoard

seen it tonight

it's dope. feels like a contemporary version of Fresh, not as good, missed a couple of notes, but I fuxs with it.

IMO better than Dope and possibly Dear, White People

Erykah needs more acting work, even tho she was given a little stereotypical role, she popped off the screen

no idea's original, nothing new under the sun, etc etc

i get that

but this trailer hits a lot of the exact, EXACT same notes as 'dope'

racially diverse group of lower-middle-class 90's culture obsessed 'good kids' inadvertently stumble upon large cache of party drugs, go into business, eventually confronted by 'real gangstas', learn valuable life lesson.

it's nasir, so i'll support, but my expectations aren't that high.

it is a capital mistake to theorize before one has data. insensibly one begins to twist facts to suit theories, instead of theories to suit facts. - sherlock holmes

at all

1. this is not a comedy
2. this is not an exploration of ALT-Blackness: i'm not like those niggas
3. there is no pursuit of the high yellow sky gawdess love interest
4. they aint into nostalgic 90s anything. they are a collective of poor, Afro-Latinos who like to skate and are dealing with some fucked up situs, especially the lead Cisco
5. the cinematograhpy is much better than that of Dope's
6. the ending is hella bleak if you interpret it as i did...

yes, the caper is essentially the same, as in what you stated "nothing new under the sun", and Caple makes some bad choices, in particular with the villain(s) and... nvm i won't spoil, but this is a good movie

great no, but good

i really loved the mom, and how the film came full circle concerning how much environment keeps poor youth trapped.
